We’re warming up for our huge Spring Wine & Gourmet Food Festival with a very nice line-up of wines for the season on Friday, including two excellent wines that are Kosher for Passover.  Join us to sample:

Ch La Roche St Jean Bordeaux Blanc 2012 – Today’s featured wine, every bit as tasty as ever but at a very special re-introductory case price of just $7.98!

Ghiaccio Forte Morellino di Scansano Vigne del Passero 2011 – Tuesday’s featured wine is a rich, seductive, mouthful of ripe Tuscan Sangiovese with just a dash of Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and complexity.  Super value at the best price in the USA!

Recanati Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon – Winery founder Lenny Recanati started this fine young estate in 2000 with the goal of delivering top-quality wines from Israel at excellent value prices.  The winamker trained at UC Davis, the assistant winemaker at Sassicaia, and their experience certainly shows!  Two excellent wines to please any value-seeking wine lover that just happen to be Kosher for Passover.

Broadbent Colheita Madeira 1996 – A stunning, Wine Advocate 93 point, Madeira that delivers layers of toasted nut, caramel, and sweet spice flavors with a bracing, briny, finish.  We may have a few other wines from Bartholomew Broadbent’s Thursday night wine class to share as well – but you’ll need to come by to see!

With spring upon us, we know you need wines to enjoy with ham, lamb, and even chocolate Easter bunnies.  And, we know you’ll want to have some very special foods on hand to share with family and friends (or just nibble happily on your own while watching the NCAA tournament!).  So we’re hosting a huge wine and food festival this Saturday to give your Spring the happy and delicious start it deserves!

Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam – elegant, decadent, triple cream cow’s milk cheese with just a hint of white mushroom.

Ch La Roche St Jean Bordeaux Blanc 2012 – today’s featured wine

Egret Chardonnay California 2011 – creamy and ripe but with nice, bright, acidity and just the right touch of oak

Muller Catoir Muskateller Kabinett Trocken 2011 – a rare, complex, aromatic, and bone-dry Muscat from one of Germany’s great estates

Klemens Weber Burrweiler Altenforst Riesling Halb 2011 (1.0l) – good thing this comes in an extra-large bottle, because it sure does go down easily; a perfect wine for ham and pre-dinner sipping

Noble Hill Mourvedre Rose 2012 – our first new rosé of the season is a dead-ringer for top-notch Bandol, but just happens to be from South Africa; hearty and delicious

Hillinger Secco NV – good gracious, this sparking rosé of Pinot Noir is stunning this year with loads of cranberry and strawberry fruit and a clean, dry, finish.

Red Wines
Ch Thivin Cote De Brouilly 2011 – a crackling, tangy, perfumed bottle of Beaujolais that makes your mouth water (and smile) as it pairs with everything from ham to lamb.

Block Nine Caiden's Vyd Pinot Noir 2011 – a rarity: perfectly ripe California Pinot Noir that’s bursting with honest Pinot aromas and flavors but clocks in at just 13.1% alcohol and <$15 everyday

Ch Husson Chateauneuf Du Pape Les Saumades 2009 – a classic for lamb and grilled meats, this robust Rhone is wide open now and ready to love.
