- Mars And Venus Chardonnay 2011 Product #26449 (In Stock)
-
-
A very nice value Chardonnay that comfortably over-delivers vs. its modest price tag. No oak here, just bushels of clean, crisp, Chardonnay apple and stone fruit with a hint of caramelized pineapple. Juicy and clean, this is a mid-weight white that's just perfect for parties or weeknight sipping.
- El Cortijillo Blanco Verdejo 2012 Product #27229 (In Stock)
-
-
Here's a screaming value white wine from the Spanish land of La Mancha. It's 100% Verdejo - a grape that, at it's best, is kind of a cross between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Bright, fresh, aromas of ripe peach, fresh grass, and mineral notes lead to a juicy mouthful of fresh apricot, peach, and citrus fruit with a touch of fruit blossom and mint for complexity. Round and zesty in the middle and clean and bright on the finish where the apricot and papaya flavors linger nicely. A mouthwatering, refreshing, white to drink on any warm day and a great match for summer salads and grilled white meats or fish.
- Chabert Chardonnay Vin De Pays D'oc 2011 Product #25874 (In Stock)
-
-
Another fine vintage – that makes 3 out of 3! – for our best-selling Chardonnay ever! As in the past, this all stainless steel (no oak!) beauty comes from a pretty vineyard deep in the South of France. And, as in the past, you’ll find plenty of yellow apple and peach pit fruit flavors and aromas with accents of lemon zest, pear skin, and just a touch of chalky mineral. The wine is just a touch richer and rounder this year than last, with a note of candied pear in the middle and pretty peach blossom and golden apple on the soft, easy, finish. A wine sure to appeal to both "Old World" and "New World" palates, and a fantastic value.
- Petite Roucas Sauvignon Blanc 2011 Product #27241 (In Stock)
-
-
Not exactly what you'd expect from the South of France, this is pure, refreshing, Sauvignon deliciousness. Mellow aromas of fresh cut citrus and green melon with just a hint of grass. Then big and fruity flavors of melon, apple and lime course across your palate with bright acids and juicy freshness. Round and easy in the middle for effortless sipping but then clean and zippy at the end. Yummy.
- Gatao Vinho Verde NV Product #17328 (In Stock)
-
-
The Gatão is one of the most emblematic wines of the Vinhos Verdes Region. Young and fruity. Smooth, delicate, and fresh; a fun medium-dry wine meant to be enjoyed on the in the dog days of summer.
- Bricco Dei Tati Cortese Piemonte 2011 Product #26560 (In Stock)
-
-
Cortese is best known as the grape of Gavi, but it's grown seldom as interesting as this! This wine is surprisingly complex on the nose, although we struggled to put it to words. Think of smelling an herbal infusion with lemon, honey, and lavender on a sunny day. (Fanciful, but it's the best I could do!) In the mouth the wine is clean and crisp with notes of lemon, bees wax, and fresh herbs complicated by something hard to describe but vaguely grapefruity. finishes clean and fresh with just a hint of green apple. this is going to be our "go to" for picnics, cold seafood salads, and simple chicken dishes. A whole lotta wine for the money.
- Recanati Chardonnay Galilee 2011 Product #27004 (In Stock)
-
-
Proof that "Kosher" and "Delicious" aren't contradictions at all! This is a classic Chardonnay that straddles New World and Old World styles with a creamy texture, ripe orchard fruit and pineapple, and just the right touch of spicy oak and fresh butter on the end. From a prime vineyard in northern Galilee, it's Kosher for Passover, but more than delicious enough to enjoy all year long.
- Villa Dria Gascogne Blanc Colombard Sauvignon 2012 Product #27154 (In Stock)
-
-
The motto here is “Gascony seen by a feminine point of view.” Other than the fact that the estate is led by women, I’m not sure what that really means, but this is a heck of a delicious white for summer sipping. The blend is 80% Colombard – the main white grape in Gascony – for bright acidity and round texture and 20% Sauvignon Blanc for a big burst of fruit and touch of fresh hay. The fruit flavors coat your palate with ripe green melon, golden apple, and orange/tangerine flavors set off by lemony acids, a dash of minerality, and a whiff of fresh cut grass. A great summer sipper that delivers Sauvignon Blanc-like flavors that have been softened and tamed by the Colombard. Yummy.
- De Angelis Falerio Doc Bianco 2012 Product #27161 (In Stock)
-
-
The Falerio DOC sits at the southern end of Marche, on Italy's Adriatic coast just East of Umbria. The relatively new DOC was created in 1975 to promote the region's two best white wine grapes-Passerina and Pecorino-while continuing to allow use of the ubiquitous Trebbiano.
This 2012 Falerio is a fresh, young, wine with all of the refreshing, spritzy qualities of the 2011, but with an extra notch of richness. The aromas are like sniffing limes and peaches at the beach-plenty of green and orchard fruit aromas with a saline note of the sea in the background. On the palate, there's loads of ripe, creamy peach and nectarine fruit with a spritz of key lime juice and seltzer followed by a chalky, salty, mineral-driven, finish. There's a lot of creamy richness here that will please fans of unoaked Chardonnays, but the zesty acidity and mineral element make this super fresh and mouthwatering. Brilliant with a garlicky scampi and seafood but pretty darn fun to just drink at a party or with friends over antipasti. Staggering value.
- Martinez Lacuesta Blanco Rioja 2012 Product #27182 (In Stock)
-
-
This is 100% Viura grown in selected sites across Rioja. The ripe grapes are pressed and the juice goes into all new barrels - a mixture of French and American oak and acacia - to ferment and rest for 3 months. After that, the wine moves into stainless steel to complete its maturation, retaining freshness and verve to go along with the light oak influence.
The 2012 is a lot like the 2011 but a tad richer and deeper. Give it a sniff, and you'll be rewarded with pretty springtime aromas of peach, pineapple, and almond blossom. Take a sip and you'll discover a round, creamy, textured wine that's bursting with zesty fruit and juicy acids. After you swallow, you'll notice the fresh flavors lingering nicely as a hint of honey and bitter almond emerge at the end. Almost too easy to drink by itself for refreshment and fun, you'll love how this enhances warm weather favorites like fresh fish, grilled mushrooms, or marinated chicken. - Villa San Martino Pinot Grigio 2011 Product #26860 (In Stock)
-
-
It’s hard to get excited about most Pinot Grigio at this price, but this crisp and lemony example from Fruili made us sit up and take notice. Pretty aromas of stone fruit, lemon zest, and a touch of mineral. In the mouth, fresh and bright with juicy flavors of cut apple, peach, lime and lemon and a mouthwatering, juicy, finish. Clean, bright, very refreshing - and great value!
- Stellenryck Sauvignon Blanc 2013 Product #27272 (In Stock)
-
-
We made a conscious decision to really dig into South Africa recently, and great values like this crisp beauty are exactly why. A lighter take on Sauvignon Blanc than New Zealand's grapefruit bombs, Stellenryck's delivers citrusy refreshment, with aromas of lemon, lime zest, and a hint of herbaceousness. On the palate it's got plenty of zippy Sauvignon character, but is first and foremost thirst quenching. Stock up for parties, light spring dishes, and warm evenings on the deck.
- Reina De Castilla Sauvignon Blanc 2011 Product #26948 (In Stock)
-
-
This lovely Spanish Sauvignon Blanc bursts from the glass with bold aromas of peach, apricot, passion fruit, and mango. In the mouth, it's at once bright and round and packed with orchard fruit, citrus, and green pineapple fruit and just the right dash of herb. Showy, but easygoing and very sippable, there's enough fruit here for New Zealand SB fans in a more relaxed, easy, package.
- Josephine Dubois Bourgogne Blanc 2011 Product #27232 (In Stock)
-
-
At their best, 2011 white Burgundies hint at 2008's vibrant minerality but deliver softer, more easy to enjoy now, pleasure. That's the case here. A fine, honest, bottle of Chardonnay with notes of green apple, chalk, limes kin and toasted nuts. Clean and fresh from start to finish - a little Chablis-like, actually - with good length and a touch of saline mineral on the mouthwatering finish. Very classy Bourgogne, especially at this price!
"A terrific chardonnay with mouthwatering acidity and impeccable balance, this is an excellent wine for casual meals." 2 Stars Dave McIntyre, Washington Post - Ponga Sauvignon Blanc 2011 Product #25573 (In Stock)
-
-
Allan Scott makes this cheerful (and cheap!) Sauvignon Blanc for a local distributor, and it's one of those unexpected winners that punch well above their weight. Generous and fresh aromas of orange blossom, tangerine, and pink grapefruit lead to a zippy, crisp, mouthful of melon and citrus fruit with just a touch of fresh cut grass. Fun and very tasty.
- La Cappuccina Soave 2011 Product #25931 (In Stock)
-
-
My original notes say, "crisp and refreshing, but not watery," which sums things up nicely! La Cappuccina's Soave opens with fresh, lemony citrus flavors that make your mouth water, making it a great aperitif wine. Aromas of lemon peel, fresh almonds, and white flowers make you reach for another sip. It finishes with a pleasing saline note, almost a brininess on the palate, that makes it a wonderfully versatile food wine.
I could imagine sipping this with everything from Thai-inspired shrimp to a big entrée salad with grilled chicken (for those of us who haven't thrown in the towel on our New Year's Resolutions yet). It would also sing with a dish with richer, bolder flavors, like pasta with a creamy sauce or some salty, just-melting cheese. This is also the perfect white to keep knocking around in the refrigerator for those times when you want a glass of wine while you're getting dinner started and unwinding from the day. Put on some nice music and your favorite fuzzy slipper socks (OK, maybe that part is just me) and let all those emails and meetings recede into the background. - Cadastres Picpoul De Pinet 2011 Product #25970 (In Stock)
-
-
This 100% estate grown Picpoul de Pinet clearly demonstrates just how under-rated this variety is. You’ll find pretty aromas of white flowers, lemon/lime citrus, and anise/fennel notes to start. Then a crisp, minerally, texture with tart granny smith apple, green melon, and lemon/lime flavors and a clean, dry, finish. This is just a great all-around daily white, with enough flavor and body to shine by itself at a party and enough complexity and depth to pair well with freshwater fish and lighter poultry dishes. Tremendous value!
- Arnaud De Villeneuve Muscat Sec 2011 Product #26153 (In Stock)
-
-
If you think Muscat is just a grapey, often sweet, wine suitable for making into Moscato, well, think again! The 2011 Arnaud de Villeneuve Muscat Sec is a bone dry but wildly flamboyant wine from France’s Languedoc Roussillon region. Extravagant aromas of white grape, tropical flowers, ginger and spice burst out of the glass. In the mouth there’s an explosion of spiced citrus, apricot, ginger, and asian five spice flavors with a lovely honeysuckle note emerging in the mid-palate. The wine finishes dry and refreshing with chalky mineral and gingery lime lingering nicely. Yes, this will be fantastic with Asian dishes but it’s so much fun that you’ll need to keep plenty on hand to drink on its own as well. And, a great value to boot!
- Lovisolo Gavi 2011 Product #26666 (In Stock)
-
-
Bright, lemony, and fantastic value. Cool, refreshing aromas of fresh flowers and lemon oil whaft from the glass. Soft and round in the mouth at first with with plenty of tart green apple, lemon, lime, pink citrus and green melon fruit on display. About halfway back, the acidity comes forward and lifts the fruit up and delivers a bright, mouthwatering, finish.
- Val De Salis Viognier 2011 Product #26790 (In Stock)
-
-
The kind of wine that we hope for out of the South of France - a delicious value that way over-delivers on its modest price. Here's a ripe, friendly, bottle of Viognier that delivers straight ahead peach, orange and honeysuckle aromas and flavors, a creamy texture, and just a dash of mineral on the finish. A nice interplay between sweet, ripe, fruit and tangy acid at the end. To sip or enjoy with salads and lighter dishes.
