Early Mountain Rose 2014 Product #29539 (In Stock)
Early Mountain Rose 2014 Early Mountain Rose 2014

A Virginia rose made from Merlot and Malbec that's delicious and a great value? We were pleasantly surprised, too! Lots of ripe strawberry aromas and a hint of rose here on the nose. On the palate, there's plenty of fruit flavor, but nice juicy acidity keeps things from being cloying. Further proof they're doing something right at Early Mountain!

Annefield Vineyards Chardonnay Virginia 2012 Product #28956 (In Stock)
Annefield Vineyards Chardonnay Virginia 2012 Annefield Vineyards Chardonnay Virginia 2012

Honestly, too much Virginia Chardonnay tries too hard.  Annefield has dropped the pretension and turned out a creamy, rich, Chardonnay that's actually fun to drink!  Apple, stone fruit, and a little grilled pineapple sit at the core with accents of honeysuckle, caramel, and sour apple candy.  There's a touch of minerality and fine acidity for support and a good dose of buttery luxury, too.  Ripe fruit and all used oak help, and the price is a steal for Chardonnay this joyful - especially from Virginia!

Early Mountain Red Vine 2012 Product #28829 (In Stock)
Early Mountain Red Vine 2012 Early Mountain Red Vine 2012

Jean Case and husband Steve (of AOL fame) launched Early Mountain to showcase the best of Virginia wines.  With Paul Hobbs consulting, they're off to a great start!  This "field blend" of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon offers up exotic aromas of coffee, jasmine, dark fruit and spice.  Dark chocolate drapes over the red and black fruit on the palate before tangy cherry and cranberry comes up on the finish.  A fine drinker and excellent Virginia value!

Barboursville Viognier Reserve 2013 Product #29147 (In Stock)
Barboursville Viognier Reserve 2013 Barboursville Viognier Reserve 2013

A fine follow-up to the Wine Enthusiast 89 point 2012.  Last year's review seems on point again! "Vibrant scents of peach and nectarine lead the nose, and a touch of white flower adds a sense of elegance. Broad and expansive on the palate, this Viognier demonstrates a striking balance between its flavor concentration and flesh, and its acidity lends it spine and verve."

Glen Manor Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Product #29677 (In Stock)
Glen Manor Sauvignon Blanc 2014 Glen Manor Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Another terrific release of what many think is the very best Sauvignon Blanc made in Virginia.  The 2014 delivers a wonderful balance between crisp acidity and ripe fruit, with opening aromas of fresh herbs and grass, some white grapefruit, and a hint of herb.  The flavors add notes of slate and smoke to the bright citrus fruit and sail on through a juicy, mouthwatering, finish.

Thibaut Janisson Blanc De Blancs Brut NV Product #19763 (In Stock)
Thibaut Janisson Blanc De Blancs Brut NV Thibaut Janisson Blanc De Blancs Brut NV

Thiabaut Janisson is a joint venture between Champagne’s Manuel Janisson and globe-trotting winemaker Claude Thibaut.  After earning his winemaking degree from the University of Reims in the heart of France’s Champagne region, Claude worked with wineries in France, Australia and California before being recruited by Kluge Estate in Virginia in 2003.  He launched his own label in 2007, and the results have been nothing short of outstanding.

The TJ Blanc de Chardonnay is - as the name suggests - 100% Chardonnay grown in the Monticello region around Charlottesville.  The wine shows a lovely bready/yeasty nose, fine bubbles, and a crisp texture with hints of baked apple and bread flavors.  Certainly the best Virginia fizz we’ve tasted, and one of the best Virginia wines period.

"Brilliant lemon color with a refined nose, reminiscent of white Burgundy. Racy mineral laden attack with beautifully delineated flavors of melon and nicely integrated oak on a refined and understated, elegant palate. Made by the master winemaker, Claude Thibaut."i-Wine Review 91 points

One of Virginia's most decorated winemakers, Jeff White, tries something new - a "Right Bank" style Bordeaux blend to complement the former Governor's Cup winning "Left Bank" Hodder Hill.  It's a blend of 57% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Franc and 14% Cabernet Sauvignon from the outstanding 2012 harvest.  Plenty of rich, plummy, blackcurrant and berry fruit to go with notes of crushed herb, smoke and bitter chocolate.  Drink it now with lamb or rich beef or age it for a few years for more complexity.
