Thurston Wolfe Cabernet Sauvignon "the Teacher" 2011 Product #27538 (In Stock)
Thurston Wolfe Cabernet Sauvignon Thurston Wolfe Cabernet Sauvignon

The undisputed “Ugliest Label In the Store” award winner is actually a terrific bottle of Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. As Wine Advocate said, “Thurston Wolfe is an artisanal producer of wines with personality. The production of these wines ranges from 48 cases to 588 cases so interested parties are advised to get on the mailing list.”

The 2011 is 100% Cabernet from three vineyard’s in the famous Horse Heaven Hills region, The Teacher gets 21 months in French, American and Hungarian oak to smooth out any rough edges.  The aromas are big and complex: grilled bread, pencil lead, Asian spice, violets, and loads of dark black fruit.  Then, a big mouthful of ripe black fruits and oak spice in a full bodied, rich, package.  Nicely ripe and firm tannin give support and make this a great choice for anything roasted or grilled.

Efeste Ceidleigh Syrah 2010 Product #26784 (In Stock)
Efeste Ceidleigh Syrah 2010 Efeste Ceidleigh Syrah 2010

Very limited.

"Deep bright ruby. Slightly porty aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, licorice and chocolate, lifted by a violet nuance. Seriously concentrated and chewy, with the high-toned porty character carrying through in the mouth. Large-scaled, solid and sweet, showing a lot of baby fat today. Finishes with huge but ripe tannins. Just this side of over the top."International Wine Cellar 90 points

Andrew Will Cabernet Franc Columbia Valley 2012 Andrew Will Cabernet Franc Columbia Valley 2012

As Wine Advocate has said about previous vintages, "Made by Chris Camarda from his base on Vashon Island just west of Seattle, Andrew Will Cellars delivers classic, elegant wines that show solid typicity and age-worthy profiles."  This Cabernet Franc is a beauty with ripe red currant and berry fruit accented by just a touch of smoke and Cab Franc crushed herb. Medium-bodied and fresh, the fruit carries through to the long finish where grainy tannin provides support.  Great wine for lamb!

Quilceda Creek Red Columbia Valley 2012 Product #28955 (In Stock)
Quilceda Creek Red Columbia Valley 2012 Quilceda Creek Red Columbia Valley 2012

A stunner; perhaps the best ever for this second wine of Washington State's benchmark Cabernet producer.  The CVR Red is made from barrels that didn’t quite fit with the main Cabernet Sauvignon blend.  The quality is very high – anything not “excellent” at Quillceda Creek is sold off in bulk – but these barrels are a tad more forward, open, and fruit-centered than made sense for the main wine.  Of course, those characteristics – plus the much reduced price! – make them a perfect choice for drinking younger at big savings!

“The 2012 CVR Columbia Valley Red Wine is a declassified blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, with splashes of Merlot and Malbec. It offers up plenty of classic Quilceda character with notions of blackberry liqueur, toasted spice, graphite and licorice as well as full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. Already supple and approachable, yet with notable tannin structure, it will deliver the goods on release, and over the following decade or more. Drink 2014-2024.”Wine Advocate 92-94 points
