Alessandro Veglio Nebbiolo Langhe 2010 Product #28925 (In Stock)
Alessandro Veglio Nebbiolo Langhe 2010 Alessandro Veglio Nebbiolo Langhe 2010

This up-and-coming young winemaker took full advantage of the great 2010 harvest to craft a delicious Nebbiolo from just outside of Barolo. The aromas are classic Barolo - cherry, strawberry, fresh earth, truffle and a touch of rose.  The flavors stay classic, too, but the texture is really remarkable - silky, pure, and luxurious like a fine red Burgundy.  Long on the palate and the fruit-filled finish where cherry, licorice, and rose petal flavors linger nicely.

Ampelos Cellars Pinot Noir Sta Rita Hills 2013 Product #29023 (In Stock)
Ampelos Cellars Pinot Noir Sta Rita Hills 2013 Ampelos Cellars Pinot Noir Sta Rita Hills 2013

These guys are best known as a vineyard source for other top Sta. Rita Hills winemakers (e.g. Greg Brewer), but they make a tiny amount of wine on their own as well.  This is a terrific example with more structure and focus than you often find in such ripe, Sta. Rita Hills Pinot.  Fresh Pinot aromas of red berries, wildflowers, and spice open the show and lead to a focused mouthful of cherry, redcurrant, and raspberry fruit with accents of warm spice, earth, and cola.  Gets a little more smoky with air, but stays focused and fresh through the supple, sweetly fruited, finish.  Delicious now - but gone soon, because only 600 cases made!

Andre Brunel Grenache VDP 2012 Product #29394 (In Stock)
Andre Brunel Grenache VDP 2012 Andre Brunel Grenache VDP 2012

Here’s a big mouthful of easy-to-love Rhone red wine at a very attractive price. Brunel purchases Grenache (90%) and Carignan from vineyards to the North of Orange (mostly Cotes du Rhone, some outside the region).  The grapes are fully destemmed and raised in tank to let all of the juicy, ripe, fruit shine through.  Classic Rhone red aromas of ripe strawberries and dark raspberries jump from the glass and lead to soft, wide-open, flavors of red raspberry, cherry, and a touch of “garigue” – the resinous note similar to the wild rosemary and thyme that grow here.  Clean and juicy on the fruit-filled finish, this is easy to enjoy solo and will handle a wide range of foods at table.  Just delicious and pretty irresistible at the price!

Angulo Innocenti Malbec La Consulta 2012 Product #28301 (In Stock)
Angulo Innocenti Malbec La Consulta 2012 Angulo Innocenti Malbec La Consulta 2012

A big Malbec that stays poised and focused, with half the wine raised in tank for freshness.

"The opaque purple-colored 2012 Malbec is a big (14.5% natural alcohol), 1,800-case cuvee that spent time in both neutral tanks (50%) and oak (50%). It reveals some spicy oak notes along with a big, sweet kiss of blackberry and black raspberry fruit as well as hints of camphor and white flowers. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium to full-bodied, lush, opulent Malbec to enjoy over the next 4-5 years, perhaps longer."Wine Advocate 91 points

Annabella Pinot Noir Carneros 2012 Product #28495 (In Stock)
Annabella Pinot Noir Carneros 2012 Annabella Pinot Noir Carneros 2012

We loved Michael Pozzan's 2007 Annabella Pinot Noir Carneros, but haven't been as enthused by subsequent releases - until now!  In what will go down as a great Pinot Noir vintage, this roars back into form with loads of black berry and dark strawberry fruit framed in rich, earthy, spice.  The texture is pure Carneros - nicely plush, but not heavy or over the top - and there's just enough oak for interest and clove spice without drying out the lush fruit.  A winning Pinot value.

Annefield Vineyards Chardonnay Virginia 2012 Product #28956 (In Stock)
Annefield Vineyards Chardonnay Virginia 2012 Annefield Vineyards Chardonnay Virginia 2012

Honestly, too much Virginia Chardonnay tries too hard.  Annefield has dropped the pretension and turned out a creamy, rich, Chardonnay that's actually fun to drink!  Apple, stone fruit, and a little grilled pineapple sit at the core with accents of honeysuckle, caramel, and sour apple candy.  There's a touch of minerality and fine acidity for support and a good dose of buttery luxury, too.  Ripe fruit and all used oak help, and the price is a steal for Chardonnay this joyful - especially from Virginia!

Anton Bauer Gruner Veltliner Gmork 2013 Product #28636 (In Stock)

Powerful aromas of wet limestone, apple skin and white flowers emerge from the glass.  In the mouth, the wine bursts with gravelly apple and green peach fruit, loads of citrusy acidity and sweet white flowers.  A touch of white pepper emerges on the long, juicy, finish.  Just as fresh and mouthwateringly delicious as the 2011, but even richer, deeper, and more powerful. Great value!

Anton Bauer Riesling Berg 2013 Anton Bauer Riesling Berg 2013

A great introduction to the joys (and stellar value) of Riesling from Austria.  From a stony vineyard, this ultra pure and clean Riesling delivers intense aromas and flavors of ripe peach, lime zest, and fresh apricot with stony mineral notes and brisk, mouth-cleansing, acidity.  A touch of spice on the juicy finish makes this a great choice for Thanksgiving - but once you've tried this bright but easy-drinking white, you'll find yourself reaching for it again and again.

A great version of Austria's own Zweigelt grape that shows like a cross between juicy Gamay and hearty Cotes du Rhone - making it a great food and fun selection.  Loads of juicy cherry and dark berry fruit with accents of fresh earth, spice, lavender, and fragrant flowers.  Mid-weight on the palate and very fresh and clean on the finish, it's more than bold enough to handle big flavors at table but refreshing and fun enough to just sip all by itself.  A delicious value.

Arona Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2014 Arona Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2014

The new release of this certified sustainable New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc once again delivers plenty of Kiwi character with a little extra complexity and focus - possibly from 10% Riesling co-fermented with the Sauvignon!  Juicy, bright, and vivacious with generous flavors of pink grapefruit, passion fruit, lemon, lime, and fresh grass.  There's a nice minerality on the mouthwatering finish.  Generous, but nicely in control, this will be just as at home on the table as it is by itself on the back deck.

Avalon Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 Product #28655 (In Stock)
Avalon Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 Avalon Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Another solid vintage for what must be one of Napa's most consistent "top value" Cabernet Sauvignon's.  Sappy, fruit-forward, aromas of currant, cherry and blackberry lead to a soft, supple, mouthful of plum, currant and dark berry fruit with accents of cedar, fresh herb, and spice.  The plush velvet tannins give support but don't get in the way of enjoying this easygoing Napa red.

Baracchi O'lillo Toscana 2013 Product #29314 (In Stock)
Baracchi O'lillo Toscana 2013 Baracchi O'lillo Toscana 2013

Fruit comes from three different vineyards:  San Martino at 300  meters (where the winery is located), Gabbiano (closer to  Montepulciano and excellent for Syrah and Cabernet), and Montanare (where Sangiovese and Merlot grow on hills fought over by Romans and Carthaginians during the Punic Wars).  The grapes are hand harvested and given gentle fermentations in neutral oak vats before aging in tank and bottling early to preserve fresh fruit and vibrant acids.

As with the 92 point 2012 edition, this is once again a super-steal of a super-Tuscan red.  Broad-shouldered and powerful, it pumps out black cherry, blackberry, and black plum fruit with generous does of warm spice and expensive leather.  The dark fruit and spice fan out on the satisfying, long, finish.

You'll find all of the saline minerality and chiseled cut you'd expect from fine Muscadet here, but also a generous roundness to the texture and a plenty of ripe apple and tangy lime fruit. The Clos de Grans Primos vineyard is a rocky mess of granite, schist and gneiss - no fun to farm, but wonderful for Muscadet's Melon de Bourgogne grape.  Wet stone, lime zest, and thyme notes linger nicely.  Great with shellfish and a joy to drink on its own as well.

The fine 2012s just keep coming!  Powerful but elegant at just 13.6% abv.

"Ripe red berries, anise, potpourri and a hint of woodsmoke on the fragrant nose. Offers pliant black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors braced by tangy acidity and a touch of bitter orange zest. Sappy, penetrating and precise, with a good whack of peppery spices enlivening the long, gently tannic finish.
