Adelaida Zinfandel Paso Robles 2012 Product #29617 (In Stock)
Adelaida Zinfandel Paso Robles 2012 Adelaida Zinfandel Paso Robles 2012

As Wine Advocate says, this is "A winery that flies under the radar, Adelaida Cellars consistently produces classy, balanced and fruit filled wines that show the best of the region. They’re always well-made and highly drinkable."  The 2012 is a big, boisterous, juicy Zin with loads of briary fruit - blackberry, boysenberry, red raspberry - that coat your palate from front to back and side to side.  There's enough acidity for lift, just a touch of warmth, and enough fine tannin to handle rich food. Genuinely delicious Paso Zin.

Alexander Valley Gewurztraminer Mendocino 2014 Product #29940 (In Stock)
Alexander Valley Gewurztraminer Mendocino 2014 Alexander Valley Gewurztraminer Mendocino 2014

A delightful, very aromatic, treat from a winery better known for Cabernet and Zinfandel.  From a tiny vineyard in Medocino, this serves up extravagant aromas of white fruit, lychee fruit, ginger, and baking spice.  On the palate, it's rich and loaded with grapefruit and pear flavors to go with the gingery spice and then turns very dry, even crisp, on the finish with ginger and rose petal notes lingering behind.  Fun stuff and a terrific value.  Try it!

Almirez Toro 2012 Product #29786 (In Stock)
Almirez Toro 2012 Almirez Toro 2012

A blockbuster Toro Tempranillo that remains remarkably fresh.

"Opaque purple. Smoky blueberry and cherry compote aromas pick up a peppery nuance with air, along with a subtle mocha quality. Fleshy and seamless on the palate, offering sweet, concentrated black and blue fruit flavors and a touch of lavender pastille. Spreads out nicely on the juicy, penetrating finish, which is framed by silky, slow-building tannins."  Vinous 92 points

"The 2012 Almirez (a 1,000-case cuvée of 100% Tinta de Toro) was aged 14 months in French oak. This sensational wine comes from vines planted between 1949 and 1999. Yields were a conservative 1.8 tons of fruit per acre. An inky/purple color is followed by aromas of camphor, ground pepper, blackberries and cassis. This full-bodied, Northern Rhône Valley-like Spanish red exhibits meaty/lard notes, terrific density and purity, and a finish that lasts nearly 40 seconds. It should drink nicely for a decade or more."Wine Advocate 93 points

"A polished texture conceals the solid structure in this muscular red, which offers currant and blackberry flavors that show notes of espresso and tar. Gamy and savory accents lend this an austere character, but fresh acidity maintains liveliness. Best from 2016 through 2024."Wine Spectator 90 points

Alonso Del Yerro Ribera Del Duero 2010 Product #29716 (In Stock)
Alonso Del Yerro Ribera Del Duero 2010 Alonso Del Yerro Ribera Del Duero 2010

Rich and frankly flashy but with enough structure to pair up with steak or lamb nicely.

"The 2010 Crianza is a selection of Tempranillo grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 10-15 months in a combination of new (15%) and used French oak barrels. The nose is very expressive, fresh, with a mixture of red and black fruit, developing complexity and absorbing the oak. The palate is medium to full-bodied with clean, delineated flavors. This is a superb value for money. Drink now-2020."Wine Advocate 93 points

Andre Brunel Grenache VDP 2012 Product #29394 (In Stock)
Andre Brunel Grenache VDP 2012 Andre Brunel Grenache VDP 2012

Here’s a big mouthful of easy-to-love Rhone red wine at a very attractive price. Brunel purchases Grenache (90%) and Carignan from vineyards to the North of Orange (mostly Cotes du Rhone, some outside the region).  The grapes are fully destemmed and raised in tank to let all of the juicy, ripe, fruit shine through.  Classic Rhone red aromas of ripe strawberries and dark raspberries jump from the glass and lead to soft, wide-open, flavors of red raspberry, cherry, and a touch of “garigue” – the resinous note similar to the wild rosemary and thyme that grow here.  Clean and juicy on the fruit-filled finish, this is easy to enjoy solo and will handle a wide range of foods at table.  Just delicious and pretty irresistible at the price!

A fine value in rich Mendoza Cabernet!

"Cut from the same cloth [as the Malbec] in terms of its silkiness and opulence is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was also aged in equal parts neutral tanks and oak for seven months. It exhibits lots of plump black currant fruit interwoven with licorice, cedarwood, tobacco leaf and spice box. Round, generous and medium to full-bodied without a hard edge to be found, it should drink nicely for 3-4 years."Wine Advocate 89 points

A big Malbec that stays poised and focused, with half the wine raised in tank for freshness.

"The opaque purple-colored 2012 Malbec is a big (14.5% natural alcohol), 1,800-case cuvee that spent time in both neutral tanks (50%) and oak (50%). It reveals some spicy oak notes along with a big, sweet kiss of blackberry and black raspberry fruit as well as hints of camphor and white flowers. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium to full-bodied, lush, opulent Malbec to enjoy over the next 4-5 years, perhaps longer."Wine Advocate 91 points

Antxiola Txakoli 2014 Antxiola Txakoli 2014

Txakoli is a fresh, zippy style of wine from Spain’s Basque country.  Like Vinho Verde, it’s just slightly fizzy, but not fully sparkling.  But unlike its Portuguese cousin, it’s bone dry, bracingly tart, and very mineral, with aromas of lime skin and something fresh and salty reminiscent of the beach.  This great value Txakoli is a natural match for fresh seafood - or try it with sushi!

Beaulieu Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2012 Product #29924 (In Stock)
Beaulieu Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2012 Beaulieu Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 2012

A fine Rutherford Cabernet should showcase the kind of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and plum fruit generated by warm, sunny, days.  But, it should retain balancing acidity and freshness from the cool night air flowing up from the sea.  It should be rich and offer up spice and smoke accents from fine French oak.  And, it should finish with the fine-grained, cocoa-powder, tannins many call Rutherford dust.  This is a very fine Rutherford Cabernet indeed from Napa’s oldest continuously operating winery and some of the nation’s very best Cabernet vineyards.

"There is no question that Beaulieu Vineyards, an iconic estate in Rutherford that made so many great Cabernet Sauvignons in the fifties, sixties and early seventies, is returning to form. The current group of 2012s showcase that beautiful vintage very nicely. The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford represents a beautiful value with notes of dusty, loamy soil, dark black cherries, black cassis, cedarwood and Christmas fruitcake. Fleshy, round and sexy, it should drink well for 8-10 years."Wine Advocate 89 points

Bedouet Clos Des Grands Primos Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2014 Product #29638 (In Stock)
Bedouet Clos Des Grands Primos Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2014 Bedouet Clos Des Grands Primos Muscadet Sevre Et Maine 2014

Having converted his Clos des Grand Primos vineyard to certified organic farming, Michel Bedouet is delivering on Muscadet’s potential.  The vineyard is a rocky mess of granite, schist and gneiss - no fun to farm, but wonderful for Muscadet's Melon de Bourgogne grape.  The 2014 delivers all the saline minerality and chiseled cut you'd expect from fine Muscade, but also a generous roundness to the texture and a plenty of ripe apple and tangy lemon-lime fruit. You’ll taste the benefits of extended aging on the lees – spent yeast cells left after fermentation – in the wine’s wet stone and chalk minerality, but love how the fresh fruit holds center stage and pumps on through a long finish of lemon, apple, lime zest and fresh thyme.  Sure, it’s a great wine for shellfish, but you’ll love it with almost any summertime dish or simply all on its own.

Billo Priorat Negre 2010 Product #28440 (In Stock)
Billo Priorat Negre 2010 Billo Priorat Negre 2010

Priorat tends to be a massive, intense, and cellar-worthy wine that needs time in cellar or big food to shine.  So, the 2010 Billo Negre is a very special treat – a supple, open, blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, and a little Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers plenty of classic Priorat character in a “drink me now” style.  Generous aromas of black plums, blackberry, warm stones and a touch of savory herb waft from the glass.  In the mouth the fruit turns more Grenache-like with raspberry and red plum joining the cassis and blue/black fruits and a touch of luscious milk chocolate coming up on the end.  It’s full of flavor and nicely concentrated, but stays wonderfully fresh and pure on the dark berry, chocolate, and warm stone finish. The soft, fine-grained, tannins give this more than enough heft to pair with pork tenderloin or lamb loin chops, but it’s pretty darn tasty all by itself, too.  A stellar value from rocky, dry, remote, Priorat.

Bishops Peak Chardonnay Central Coast 2014 Product #29881 (In Stock)

As always, the folks at Talley do a fine job with their "no oak" Bishop's Peak program. More aromatic than many inexpensive Chardonnays, this features aromas of ripe golden apples and pears.  On the palate, no oak and no malolactic fermentation keep it fresh and crisp, with flavors of more tart green apples and a little citrus zest.  A great everyday Chardonnay for light poultry dishes or sipping before a meal.
