Netzl Rosanna Rose Carnuntum 2015 Product #30644 (In Stock)
Netzl Rosanna Rose Carnuntum 2015 Netzl Rosanna Rose Carnuntum 2015

Christiana Netzl made Austria's red wine of the year for 2015 (the captivating Cuvee Anna Christina 2013 blend of Blaufrankisch and Cabernet Sauvignon), but that didn't distract her from growing some pretty amazing grapes for rosé! This delicious Provencal taste-alike is a blend of Merlot (for herb and spice) and Austria's own Zweigelt (for juicy fruit and fun!), all harvested and pressed just for rosé.

The Carnuntum region shares Provence's warm days courtesy of the warm breeze blowing in daily from the central Eurasia plain, but gets a nightly dose of cool air from the Danube River to the north.  Hot and cool equals a fine fruit and acid balance here in a wine that pumps out generous cherry, red berry and red plum fruit aromas and flavors with a just right whiff of Merlot's vibrant herb.  Generous flavors of strawberry and watermelon shine on the long, dry, but frankly fruity finish.  Serve up some schnitzel!

Dom De La Mordoree Cotes-du-Rhone Rose La Dame Rousse 2015 Product #30751 (In Stock)
Dom De La Mordoree Cotes-du-Rhone Rose La Dame Rousse 2015 Dom De La Mordoree Cotes-du-Rhone Rose La Dame Rousse 2015

As Josh Reynolds of Vinous said about this wine a few years ago, it "punches far above its weight, but Mordoree consistently excels with its pink wines."  It's a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan and Mourvedre from the winery's properties in Lirac and Cotes du Rhone.  It’s always one of the most highly rated of Cotes du Rhone rosés.  As Wine Advocate said in their 92 point review of the 2011, “it's one of those few rosés that has the ability to instantly transport you to a seaside village, overlooking the Mediterranean, on a gorgeous summer day.”

In 2015, it opens with seductive aromas of ripe strawberries and soft herbs like tarragon, and a musky hint of melon.  Take a sip and this delicious rosé explodes in your mouth like an electrocuted watermelon, with big flavors of strawberry, rose petal, and more pumping on through the juicy, refreshing, finish.  A touch lighter and more vibrant than the Tavel, it’s a fabulous rosé for sipping by itself or to have with bolder summer dishes like barbecued chicken or ribs or salmon on the grill with plenty of char. And that beautiful color, a deep, almost magenta-tinged pink, just adds to the experience.

Dom Du Dragon Grande Cuvee Rose Cotes De Provence 2015 Product #30638 (In Stock)
Dom Du Dragon Grande Cuvee Rose Cotes De Provence 2015 Dom Du Dragon Grande Cuvee Rose Cotes De Provence 2015

The Lienard family tends about 50 acres of vines, growing chalky soils terraced up the sides of the rolling hills.  The blend is classic Provence:  Cinsault, Syrah, Grenache, and a nice dose of Rolle, a white grape also known as Vermentino.  Grapes are grown specifically for rosé and are harvested at the perfect balance of fresh fruit and juicy acidity.  Once in the winery, they are lightly crushed and allowed to pick up a just right touch of pink color and red berry flavor before pressing and finishing fermentation in cool stainless steel tanks.

In the outstanding (if small) 2015 vintage, Dragon Rosé has a touch more body but just as much complexity and refreshing vibrancy as ever.  Zesty aromas and flavors of tangy fruit – strawberry, redcurrant, and blood orange – take center stage with a nice dose of rose petal and classic Provençal herb for complexity.  A squeeze of citrus and dusting of chalky mineral help chase the pretty flavors across your palate and leave your mouth watering on the crisp, spicy, stony dry finish.  A lovely match for everything from grilled salmon to Salade Niçoise and delightful to sip on its own.

Ch Les Valentines Rose Cotes De Provence 2015 Product #30664 (In Stock)
Ch Les Valentines Rose Cotes De Provence 2015 Ch Les Valentines Rose Cotes De Provence 2015

Simply the best rosé we’ll offer this year, this is the kind of rosé that will delight fans and convert pink wine skeptics – and, in this year, it will show you just why we’re all so excited about France’s magnificent 2015 vintage.  Valentine is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault from 30 year-old vines in certified organic vineyards just a few miles inland from Saint Tropez that offers both classic Provençal freshness and enough heft and body for amazing versatility at table.

The color of this wine is a showstopper – such a delicate, shimmering, pale pink that it’s hard to believe there could be any weight or flavor at all.  Give it a sniff, though, and you’ll start to smile as you enjoy the generous aromas of spring strawberries, cherries, tangerine, spice and Provençal herb.  Take a sip, and your eyes will widen as this pale pink beauty fills your mouth with a rich, creamy, textured explosion of ripe currant, cherry, and lemon/lime fruit with savory accents of white pepper and crushed herb.  And, as the dry, mineral-laced, finish makes your mouth water, you’ll do the only reasonable thing – grab the glass for yet another sip.  Enjoy this all summer, but be sure to get enough to drink with Thanksgiving turkey and enjoy all winter long.

Dom Du Tix Rose Les Restanques 2015 Product #30799 (In Stock)
Dom Du Tix Rose Les Restanques 2015 Dom Du Tix Rose Les Restanques 2015

The name “les Restanques” honors the old stone walls running up and down Mount Ventoux that create terraces where the Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah that make up this stunning pink wine soak up warm sunshine in the day and then chill down quickly as cold air flows down the mountainside at night.

Pour it, and you’ll think, “THIS is what Provencal rose is supposed to look like!” – a brilliantly clear and shimmeringly pale rose petal pink.  It’s a bit floral on the generous nose, too - peach blossom and just-opened rose flower with peach skin, strawberry and herb all weave in and out here.  On the palate it's vivid and fresh and bursting with zesty flavors of strawberry, tart cherry, peach and crushed flowers lifted by a seltzery minerality and bright acids.  You'll find a bit of extra breadth and amplitude from the warm 2015 vintage but love the dry, mouthwatering, finish that leaves peach, strawberry and crushed stone minerality – recalling the “Restanques” themselves! – lingering on.

Dom De La Mordoree Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2015 Product #30752 (In Stock)
Dom De La Mordoree Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2015 Dom De La Mordoree Tavel Rose La Dame Rousse 2015

As Robert Parker said, “If you haven't discovered, Mordorée continues to make some of the finest dry Rosés available anywhere in the world.”  And this, their flagship Tavel, is simply one of the finest pink wines you’ll be able to find anywhere this season.  The magic starts with 40 year-old plantings of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre - the black grapes for color - and 5% each of Clairette and Bourboulenc - the white grapes for vivacity and freshness.  After harvest, the grapes are crushed and allowed to soak in their juice for 3-4 days to extract flavor and aroma and also a rich, dark, salmon color.

Like any great Tavel, this is more deep, intense, and seriously red wine-like than most rosés you’ve experienced.  Big aromas of ripe strawberries, roses, orange blossom and creamy framboise jump from the glass.  On the palate, its rich, mouthfilling, and creamy in texture with intense berry and floral flavors lifted by a pop of bright acidity and chalky mineral on the long, dry, lipsmacking, finish.  A serious rosé for a contemplative glass of wine on the back deck while the sun sets, or to wow your guests at your next warm-weather dinner party. And don’t forget to put away a few bottles for the holidays, because this is the answer to the age-old question of what to serve at Thanksgiving this year or for 2 or 3 years to come!
