Elk Cove Pinot Noir Willamette 2013 375ml Product #31045 (In Stock)
Elk Cove Pinot Noir Willamette 2013 375ml Elk Cove Pinot Noir Willamette 2013 375ml

Nice richness here to go with Oregon's classic elegance.  Pretty and delicious for salmon or even beef.

"All five vineyards contribute to this widely available blend. It's on the chunky side, with blocky black cherry and a frame of milk chocolate from aging 10 months in French oak. There's a dash of spice as it races through the finish."Wine Enthusiast 89 points

Vista Hills Pinot Gris Treehouse Estate 2014 Product #29500 (In Stock)
Vista Hills Pinot Gris Treehouse Estate 2014 Vista Hills Pinot Gris Treehouse Estate 2014

On opening, aromas of golden delicious apple, apple skin, nectarine, Myer lemon peel and waxy white flower.  On the palate, the fruit turns spicier with pear, apple, and honeydew melon at the center and a hint of nuttiness.   The finish pops with bright, vibrant, acidity that lifts the green pear, Acacia flower, and lime pith flavors across a long, dry, finish.  Leaves your mouth watering and green melon and spice flavors lingering.  Drinks like a cross between Pinot Blanc – crisp, bright, green apple-laced – and bone dry Riesling – aromatic, a touch floral, and full of juicy acids.

Give it a few more months – or even a short decant now – and the wine opens beautifully.  The fruit get richer, and riper, picking up a more golden hue and a hint of hazelnut without losing the floral and Myer lemon accents.  The texture gets fleshier and finish more broad and rich, too, but the bright green apple acids and touch of lime zest bitterness keep things fresh and very drinkable. At all times, it’s a delicious match for everything from ham to salmon to seafood to salads or more.  Or just for  sipping on a pretty Spring afternoon.

Grochau Cellars Pinot Noir Willamette 2012 Product #30007 (In Stock)
Grochau Cellars Pinot Noir Willamette 2012 Grochau Cellars Pinot Noir Willamette 2012

John Grochau sources fruit for this multi-vineyard Pinot Noir from organic and sustainably farmed vineyards up and down Willamette Valley.  In 2012 he made under 1,000 cases with about 30% whole cluster and around one-quarter new oak.

At first very spicy on the nose with notes of cinnamon, cardamom, and coriander weaving in and out of the black cherry and raspberry fruit, getting more sauve and integrated with a little air.  The texture is simply beautiful, with a pure, silky, mouthfeel, fine length, and long, supple, dusty tannins at the end.  The Bing cherry, raspberry and very ripe strawberry fruit flavors are nicely complicated by accents of sweet spice and fresh earth that linger nicely on the juicy, spicy, finish.  Delicious right now, better next year, and delicious through 2019 or so.

"Brilliant red. Red berries, fresh rose and smoky Indian spices on the pungent nose. Chewy and sharply focused, displaying good lift and spine to its ripe cherry and raspberry flavors, with a peppery element emerging with air. Turns sweeter on the finish, which features dusty tannins and a touch of cola."  Vinous (Reynolds) 90 points

Biggio Hamina Pinot Noir Chehalem Mt 2013 Product #30925 (In Stock)
Biggio Hamina Pinot Noir Chehalem Mt 2013 Biggio Hamina Pinot Noir Chehalem Mt 2013

How does a $40 Willamette Pinot that earned a fine 91 point rating in 2012 end up available too you from half-off?  It’s a long story, but the conclusion is simple:  this is the Oregon Pinot Noir buying opportunity of the year and one of the best Pinot deals we’ve brought you ever!  From a tiny, 2 acre, vineyard at 800 feet elevation in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountain region, this blends a range of Pinot clones all grown on volcanic Jory soils.

It's a great example of the elegant, pure, and very refreshing wines that represent the best of Oregon’s 2013 harvest.  You'll find a lovely perfume of crushed raspberry, fresh strawberry, and red pie cherry fruit with hints of lavender and spice.  Pure, vibrant, and silky on the palate, the ripe and tangy cherry/berry fruit takes center stage with subtle accents of spice and smoked stone.  The smoky notes are a hallmark of Willamette Valley's volcanic Jory soils and gain depth and intensity with time in the glass.  The perfumed fruit and smoke finish sales on over juicy acids and fine tannins.  Light (12.8% abv) and fresh enough to just enjoy on its own but with enough structure to sing with salmon and fish, mushrooms or white meats from the grill.

Purple Hands Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2014 Product #30515 (In Stock)
Purple Hands Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2014 Purple Hands Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2014

Cody Wright - Ken Wright's son - is making a name for himself after working at Argyle, Ken Wright, and ROCO in the Willamette  Valley as well as abroad.  His 2014 blend of 6 vineyard sites from across the region is a beauty.  Rich and deeply textured, it pumps out generous blue/black fruit with accents of dusty mineral and smoke.  Ripe and broad, but not at all heavy, it's delicious already with plenty of near-term potential.

Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir Dundee Hills 2014 Product #31088 (In Stock)
Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir Dundee Hills 2014 Arterberry Maresh Pinot Noir Dundee Hills 2014

6 cases available.  Jim Maresh’s focus is on single vineyard Pinot Noir, so in most years, he sells off any barrels or lots that don’t make it into the final single vineyard cuvee.  In excellent years, though, that wine is just too good to part with, so he supplements it with fruit from neighbors and bottles this wine:  the Dundee Hills cuvee.  You’ll get a great introduction to the Arterberry Maresh style here, with fine concentration and excellent purity – in a wine that is, as Wine Advocate says, “probably the bargain of the vintage."

"The 2014 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills is a blend of Maresh, Juliard, Weber, Gehrts and Folie Hill vineyards. It has a fresh and vibrant bouquet with red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, touches of blood orange with fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin - a mixture here of red and black fruit, meaty in style with a Pommard-like finish that lingers in the mouth. For $25, it's probably the bargain of the vintage."Wine Advocate 90 points
