- Baracchi O'lillo Toscana 2012 Product #27943 (In Stock)
Fruit comes from three different vineyards: San Martino at 300 meters (where the winery is located), Gabbiano (closer to Montepulciano and excellent for Syrah and Cabernet), and Montanare (where Sangiovese and Merlot grow on hills fought over by Romans and Carthaginians during the Punic Wars). The grapes are hand harvested and given gentle fermentations in neutral oak vats before aging in tank and bottling early to preserve fresh fruit and vibrant acids.
The Wine Spectator review seems spot on to us, although we’d note that this really delicious now for the gobs of primary fruit and touch of licorice and spice flavors. A rare deal on a truly “Super” Tuscan red that will just get better and better with time.
"Round, vibrant and juicy, packing plenty of cherry, raspberry and spice flavors. Broad-shouldered and powerful, this remains focused on the fruit. Shows fine length, echoing cherry, spice and mineral notes. Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Best from 2016 through 2025."Wine Spectator 92 points
