- Bzikot Bourgogne Blanc 2011 Product #27816 (In Stock)
Here’s the kind of wine that leaves your jaw hanging – a Chardonnay with the minerality and focus of Puligny Montrachet plus the buttery, nutty, richness of a fine Meursault, all at a Bourgogne price! From carefully tended vineyards along the Puligny bench and stretching towards Meursault, Sylvain ferments and ages much of this in tank (for freshness and fruit) and the rest in French oak barrels, about 20% new.
The wine opens with generous aromas of fresh cut green apple, rainwater, cold butter, chalk, mint and citrus peel. With more air, the fruit aromas get more ripe and golden as the toasted nut and French butter notes get more pronounced. In the mouth, positively rich and luscious for a wine made by Bzikot, with deep flavors of hazelnut, golden apple, yellow peach, passion fruit and tangy butter that fill your mouth and coat your palate. Bright acidity and a firm mineral streak keep things fresh as citrus and butter flavors linger on and on. Stupid good, as we like to say.
