- Dom Raphael Sallet Macon-Uchizy 2012 Product #27923 (In Stock)
Here’s a lovely white Burgundy for drinking now at a very, very, nice price. You’ve probably never heard of the little village of Macon-Uchizy, but it’s well known in Burgundy itself. With its east-facing vineyards, Uchizy gives wines of fine ripeness but a touch more perfume and delicacy than is often found in the Macon. And, Raphael Sallet is just the man to capture the region’s potential in a bottle. Sallet is relatively unknown in this country, and you won’t find much about him in the wine press either. That’s because he’s widely respected for quality and value within France and has never had to bother to cultivate a reputation in the US.
Taste the wine, though, and you’ll know just how good Raphael is! Aromas of ripe apple, white peach, apple skin, green pineapple and a touch of hazelnut and crushed chervil with just a touch of salty caramel hiding underneath. Then bright and creamy textured in the mouth with clean apple, white peach, and lemony citrus fruit accented by notes of cultured butter and dried caramel. A note of chalky mineral shows up on the back and continues on the pretty, clean and tasty, lemon/lime and peach skin finish.
