- Dom Weinbach Sylvaner Reserve 2013 Product #29085 (In Stock)
If you know Sylvaner at all, it’s probably as an overcropped, sweet and flabby component to bad German wine. But, plant Sylvaner on stony soils, grow it carefully, and keep the yields down, and you’ll get a vibrant wine with crisp fruit and plenty of dusty, leesy, mineral.
This is even better than that. It opens with classic Sylvaner aromas of crisp green apples, fresh rain water, wet river stone, and a touch of white flower. Give it a swirl and a touch of something exotic starts to peak out. Take a sip and you’ll feel the wine explode with loads of sweet apple and peach fruit with delicious grated ginger, smoked stone, and rose petal floral notes. It’s unusually rich and even dense for Sylvaner with an almost Gewürztraminer feel before closing with lightning focus and crisp acidity and minerality on the back. Fun to just sip before the meal, but also rich and powerful enough to enjoy with turkey and all the trimmings. An exciting wine.
- Dom Weinbach Riesling Reserve Personnelle 2013 Product #29084 (In Stock)
Our favorite “basic” Alsace Riesling is even more clean and cut in 2013 than usual. The aromas are very citrusy this year, with lemon drop, lemon balm, and lime zest at the core and subtle accents of warm stone and fresh peach around the edges. “Pure” and “fresh” are the words that keep coming to mind as you taste it, with green peach, tangy apricot, Granny Smith apple and fresh lemon fruit gaining complexity from smoky, salty, mineral notes. The green apple, lemon, and wet stone flavors keep on pumping through the mouthwatering finish. As vibrant and cut as we’ve ever seen here, and an outstanding value.
