- Thorn Clarke Shotfire Quartage 2010 Product #27410 (In Stock)
The name “Quartage” refers to this wines blend of four Bordeaux varietals: 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Cabernet Franc, 12% Malbec, and 12% Merlot. While the Barossa is better known for its blockbuster Shiraz, the loose red soils here can turn out outstanding Cabernet and other Bordeaux grapes – if farmed and treated as carefully as David Clarke does here! It’s a big, intense, wine that’s loaded with classic Barossa black fruit, but with more restraint and complexity than most Shiraz delivers. Pair it with grilled beef or lamb or anything coming out of a smoker and you’ll be very, very, pleased!
“Good purple-crimson; as is so often the case, defies commonly accepted views about the Barossa's ability to produce high quality examples of a Bordeaux blend; there is an invigorating freshness and lightness of touch to this berry-fruited wine that draws it through to a long, lingering finish." James Halliday 94 points
“Pungent aromas of cherry compote, blueberry and licorice, with tobacco and medicinal herb nuances gaining strength with air. Juicy and penetrating, offering intense dark fruit flavors and bright floral and spice qualities. Dusty tannins add grip to a long, spice-dominated finish, which features a subtle vanilla note.”International Wine Cellar 90 points
- Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz 2012 Product #27608 (In Stock)
Big, bad, Boxer is back! As always, this is ultra-ripe Shiraz aged 11 months in American Oak (about 60% new). Opaque purple with garnet highlights, the dark theme continues with aromas of blackberry, black raspberry, coffee and dark chocolate. Generous and lush in the mouth with a big burst of fruit up front and oaky vanilla and spice in the back. Give it a shake now to blow off the carbon dioxide and enjoy with grilled meat.
