Ch Damase Bordeaux Superieur 2011 Product #31350 (In Stock)
Ch Damase Bordeaux Superieur 2011 Ch Damase Bordeaux Superieur 2011

Mostly Merlot, with 10% Carmenere and 5% Petit Verdot for color and structure.  Unusually - at least at this price point - the wine ages entirely in new and 1 year-old oak casks for a year.  A richly fruit-filled Bordeaux - cherry, cassis, plum - with sophisticated accents of smoke, cedar, and herb.  Almost California fruit levels with sweet spice, but plenty of Bordeaux class at the end.

Dom De Chevalier Rose De Chevalier 2015 Product #31178 (In Stock)
Dom De Chevalier Rose De Chevalier 2015 Dom De Chevalier Rose De Chevalier 2015

From Bordeaux's famous Dom de Chevalier, this is bled off the vats destined for the main red and bottled fresh and fun.  Big aromas of fresh flowers, ripe red berries and spice lead to a crisp mouthful of crushed cherry and sweet raspberry with a dash of crushed herb.  The flavors really last on the supple finish with a bit of bitter cherry pit adding complexity.  Fantastic with salmon!

Ch Desclau Bordeaux Superieur 2010 Product #30457 (In Stock)
Ch Desclau Bordeaux Superieur 2010 Ch Desclau Bordeaux Superieur 2010

Someday, all the little Bordeaux from the great 2010 harvest will be gone, but until then, the values remain superb.  Here's another, based on 40% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cab Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.  The Verdot really shows her in notes of candied violet and rich chocolate while the Cabernets add cedar, tobacco, currant, and dark cherry notes.  Finishes firm with spice, cedar and currant lingering.  Delicious right now and will improve for another 5 years or so.

No oak but plenty of class in this sizzling white Bordeaux value.  Plenty of lime, mint, stone, lemon zest and more on the nose and palate and a fine, crisp, clean, finish. A touch of ginger adds interest.

"Restrained, with modest peach and lemon curd notes, laced with a hint of thyme. The fresh finish features a light twinge of lemon zest. Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc."Wine Spectator 89-91 points

Petit Guiraud Sauternes 2013 (375ml) Petit Guiraud Sauternes 2013 (375ml)

The second wine from Ch Guiraud, this plays on the contrast between botrytis-tinged sweetness and clean Sauvignon Blanc fruit and acids. Ch La Caze Bellevue Saint Emilion 2012 Ch La Caze Bellevue Saint Emilion 2012

An outstanding St. Emilion that's dead classic in every way other than price.  From 30 year-old vines of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc and aged in all neutral oak, this opens with generous scents of currant, coffee, plum, blackberry, herb and tobacco.  In the mouth, utterly delicious and full of black fruit (berry, cherry, currant) served up with a handful of dark herb.  Plump in the middle and then focused and firm on the finish, you can drink this now with lamb or beef or wait 4-8 years if you'd rather.

Ch Larose Perganson Haut Medoc 2009 Product #30194 (In Stock)
Ch Larose Perganson Haut Medoc 2009 Ch Larose Perganson Haut Medoc 2009

A rare 2009 Bordeaux that delighted both America’s Robert Parker and Britan’s Jancis Robinson on release and has just gotten better since.  It's from 35 year-old vines growing on classic Bordeaux gravel soils just outside Pauillac and St. Julien, aged in tank (15%) and oak (85%) including about 50% new French oak.  The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon (for structure and power), 45% Merlot (for body and fruit) and 5% Petit Verdot (color, perfume), all from sustainably farmed 35 year-old vines.  Both British critic Jancis Robinson (17/20 points) and American Robert Parker (90 points, Sleeper of the Vintage") loved it on release, but it's even better now - as you'll see from James Suckling's just released review. A rich, satisfying, Bordeaux to drink right now with beef and lamb or hold through 2024.

"This is the posh sister to Larose-Trintaudon from vineyards in Arcins. Healthy crimson. Very sophisticated, swish perfume. Tastes as though an enormous amount of attention has been lavished on this wine. Top-quality oak for a start and really concentrated fruit. Lively and ripe. Great balance."  Jancis Robinson 17/20 points

“Complex aromas of blueberries, licorice and walnuts follow through to a full body, round and silky tannins and a fresh finish. Very fine indeed. Drink or hold.”  James Suckling 92 points (October, 2015)

"A sleeper of the vintage and impressive is their cuvee called Larose Perganson, which in 2009 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot. It has the silkiness of its sibling, but is fuller-bodied, with more layers of fruit and glycerin and a heady finish (14.3% alcohol). It is opulent and pure, with loads of cassis, black raspberry and licorice notes backed up with some subtle oak. Drink it over the next decade."Wine Advocate 90 points

Great vintages - like 2010 - deliver great wines up and down the price ladder.  And that's the story here with this iconic Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois.  Sustainably farmed Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%) delivers lively aromas of plum, black cherry, and smoky herb and flavors of ripe currant, cedar, and spice.  Fine acids and soft tannins keep this refreshing and make it equally delicious at table or just to sip.  Outstanding value.

Marquis De Calon St Estephe 2012 Marquis De Calon St Estephe 2012

Another great "second wine" value here, this time from 3rd Growth Saint-Estephe estate Calon Segur. From Calon Segur's famous walled vineyard, this is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot plus Cab Franc and Petit Verdot aged 17 months in 30% new oak. Rich and fleshy with tannins that want decanting or a few years.

"A spicy, meaty red with berry character and hints of mahogany. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a juicy finish. Outstanding second wine for the vintage."  James Suckling 90 points

Dense and powerful but opening nicely.

"Dark, grippy and very tarry, with lots of pebbly tannins driving underneath the layers of boysenberry, steeped fig and blackberry fruit. Ample baker's chocolate and dark tobacco fill in the remaining space. This will need a little cellaring to round into form, but remains a very solid, muscular version. Best from 2015 through 2022."Wine Spectator 91 points
