Hedges CMS Red 2011 Product #27560 (In Stock)
Hedges CMS Red 2011 Hedges CMS Red 2011

Washington state winery has its roots in Old-World winemaking, eschews scores, and is all about showcasing the potential of the terroir in Washington. Devoid of flash, pretention, or inflated prices, this winery represents the kind of honest winemaking and independent spirit that we love to support.  It doesn't hurt that the wine's delicious!

In 2011, the CMS is once again a blend of Cabernet and Merlot with a dash of Syrah. You'll find plenty of dark fruit, earth, and baking spices on the nose. On the palate the fruit flavors are even richer and more satisfying than last year, but the structure and juicy acidity keeps it all in balance. A screaming value that's fabulous for a grilled steak or a big, juicy burger!

Hedges CMS White 2012 Product #28247 (In Stock)
Hedges CMS White 2012 Hedges CMS White 2012

Labeled "Sauvignon Blanc," but more interesting than that due to 22% Chardonnay and 2% Marsanne in the blend.  Exuberant aromas of pear, grapefruit peel, and wet straw with hints of custard and just-snapped asparagus.  It's crisp and mouth-tingling on entry then big and rich as it fills your mouth with flavors of tangy citrus, kiwi, green apple, and more.  The sweet fruit pumps on through the long finish were more acidity wells up to make your mouth water and pulls you back for sip after sip.  Great sipper and will work beautifully with seafood or green salads.

Independent Producers (Hedges) Merlot 2012 Product #28249 (In Stock)
Independent Producers (Hedges) Merlot 2012 Independent Producers (Hedges) Merlot 2012

House of Independent Producers is Christophe Hedges' project to showcase some of the most exciting independently-owned vineyards in Washington's Columbia Valley.  The 2012 HIP Merlot comes from Bacchus Vineyard, and it's one of that all to rare breed - a domestic Merlot that tastes like, well, Merlot!  Roasted cherries, blackberry, toast and dashes of tar, vanilla, and cocoa powder show in the generous aromas.  In the mouth, it's rich but not heavy, soft but not flabby, and bursting with dark cherry and sweet plum flavors with accents of cocoa powder and a hint of tobacco.  The soft tannins provide enough support to match this with grilled beef, but stay soft and supple enough to enjoy on its own.

Hedges Red Mountain Red 2011 Hedges Red Mountain Red 2011

A simply magnificent bottle of Washington State red wine that shows off the quality of the Columbia Valley's best vineyards and the magic of blending grapes and sites.  In 2011, the Red Mountain blend is 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 16% Syrah, 4% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Franc, all aged in a mixture of new and used French, American and Hungarian oak.  Wonderfully ripe aromas of cassis, cherry, plum, smoke and spice lead to precise, nicely delineated, flavors of dark red fruits, toast, cut flowers, meat, and more.  Biodynamically grown and perfectly ripe at 13.5% abv (vs. 14.5+% for most other reds of this quality from Washington), it's fascinating now and even better with a little time in cellar.  Bravo!
