This is yet another in a long line of fantastic Sauvignon Blancs from the good folks at Honig. This blend of 96% Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Muscat and 3% Semillon has lovely aromas of orange blossom and grapefruit are accompanied by lemon, melon, peach and nectarine flavors that are ripe, juicy and refreshing. Medium bodied with a crisp, refreshing, slightly minerally finish. Just delicious stuff!

This is yet another in a long line of fantastic Sauvignon Blancs from the good folks at Honig. A blend of 96% Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Muscat and 3% Semillon, this gets two separate fermentations - one whole cluster pressed and another destemmed with a little time on the skins. The wine is fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve its fresh fruit flavors and aromas. Aromas of orange blossom and grapefruit are accompanied by lemon, melon, peach and nectarine flavors that are ripe, juicy and refreshing. Medium bodied with a crisp, refreshing, slightly minerally finish. Just delicious stuff!

A consistent winner in the "value Cab" category for a few years now, the 2011 Educated Guess is even richer and more full of unctuous blackcurrant, vanilla, milk chocolate, and spice character than usual. A blend of 100% Napa fruit (mainly Rutherford and St. Helena this year) with a good dose of French and American Oak, this is classic Napa steak or sipping Cabernet with a creamy texture and just enough fine tannin to hold its shape.

A delicoius, distinctive, Chardonnay from Piero Antinori's Napa Valley project. As always, showing off a certain European class and finesse, this year's release also packs in a denseity and power not often seen from wines in this part of the Valley. Satisfying on its own and great with grilled chicken or rich seafood.
“Antica’s 2011 Chardonnay is laced with lemon peel, white flowers, spices and crushed rocks. In this vintage, the estate’s Chardonnay is especially rich and powerful, largely because the irregular flowering lowered yields by 50%. This is an unusual Chardonnay that is bright in its aromas and flavors but fairly broad-shouldered in style. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016.”Wine Advocate 92 points

Ladera is best known as a Howell Mountain Cab specialists, but we prefer the Napa Valley designate which includes a dash of Petit Verdot and Syrah. As the Advocate suggests, the 2009 is for drinking now - but how is that bad?!

Perhaps our favorite Zinfandel producer, the almost off-the-grid guys at Green & Red up on the high eastern slopes of Napa. Red soils (clay and iron) with sparkling green flecks (malachite) give the winery it's name. As always, this single-vineyard Zin is plenty ripe, but with uncommon balance, grace and class. Dark cherry and raspberry fruit get accents of fresh bay leaf, clove, and cracked pepper. Long and zesty on the finish, this works equally well with grilled vegetables or big hunks of meat.
