Villa Jolanda Holiday Italian Sparkling Wine Product #22525 (In Stock)
Villa Jolanda Holiday Italian Sparkling Wine Villa Jolanda Holiday Italian Sparkling Wine

A festive wine deserves a festive package!  Villa Jolanda sparkler is made from 100% Prosecco grapes grown in the hills north of Treviso.  Grapes are hand-harvested, chilled in the vineyard, and given a low-temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruit.  The wine features lovely aromas of white flowers, orchard fruits, and a touch of mineral.  Lightly sparkling with very pretty, small, bubbles, the wine is full of flavor - peach, ripe apple, lemon zest, and a nice mineral streak.  Fruity and crisp, the wine finishes with a touch of mineral and yellow apple.  A fantastic wine to keep on hand for everyday celebrations or to stock up on for Holiday parties.  Delicious!

Di Lenardo Pinot Grigio Friuli 2013 Product #28571 (In Stock)
Di Lenardo Pinot Grigio Friuli 2013 Di Lenardo Pinot Grigio Friuli 2013

If you think Pinot Grigio is a neutral, flavorless, watery wine – well, you just haven’t tried the new release of this long-time customer favorite!  It’s wonderfully aromatic, with notes of crisp pear, fresh apple, white flower blossom and a touch of spice jumping from the glass.  The texture is as light, crisp, and refreshing as ever, but the flavors are bold and satisfying with notes of spicy pear, juicy green apple, tangy apricot, and just a hint of almond.  The fruit flavors keep on pumping through the long, mouthwatering, finish where the pear juice and citrus flavors linger. A great all-purpose summer white to enjoy on its own or with everything from shellfish to grilled chicken.

Di Lenardo Chardonnay Friuli 2013 Product #28628 (In Stock)
Di Lenardo Chardonnay Friuli 2013 Di Lenardo Chardonnay Friuli 2013

It’s a little surprising that the grape least associated with Friuli – Chardonnay – should deliver one of the most exciting wines in this line-up.  But, then, this isn’t “just” Chardonnay.  When Massimo Di Lendardo took over his family estate in 1987, he launched a massive replanting effort to increase vine density and focus on the very best clones for his Friuli vineyards.  For this wine, that meant the “Chardonnay Musque” clone, a mutation that retains all of Chardonnay’s body and crisp fruit but adds a layer of floral and pit fruit aromatics.

It’s been a winning choice, with Di Lenardo Chardonnay earning 89-91 points from Wine Spectator each year for the past five!  And, the review for the 90 point 2012 fits well here:  “A stony undertow and well-meshed acidity frames the flavors of yellow apple, apricot, anise, slivered almond and honeycomb in this bright and balanced version. A crowd-pleaser.” This is no-oak, 100% fun, Chardonnay that will sing with a wide range of food or delight while sipping at sunset.

Gini Soave Classico 2011 Product #27613 (In Stock)
Gini Soave Classico 2011 Gini Soave Classico 2011

The 2010 "basic" Soave from the region's most dependable top-quality estate is gentle in the mouth with yellow fruit and a touch of nutty anise that grows on the expansive finish.  There's a floral note present this vintage, but more than enough bright, apple and lemon, acidity to keep things fresh and refreshing.  Great wine for fresh water fish!

Kellerei Kaltern Caldaro Lagrein 2012 Product #28228 (In Stock)
Kellerei Kaltern Caldaro Lagrein 2012 Kellerei Kaltern Caldaro Lagrein 2012

Lagrein is sort of the Dolcetto of Alto Adige, the bold but flexible everyday red that pairs perfectly with cheese, sausage and savory main courses.  This one's a beauty, ripe and dark and loaded with earthy cherry and plum fruit and bitter chocolate notes.  The texture is generous and round- making it a nice sipper - but bright acidity and fine tannins let it shine at table. Delicious and fine value!

"Sleek and rich with red fruit and black tannins, this is a peppery lagrein that shows edges of alcohol and leafiness. Those edges will add spice to most anything beefy, particularly a steak."Wine & Spirits 88 points

Kellerei Kaltern Muller Thurgau 2012 Product #27693 (In Stock)
Kellerei Kaltern Muller Thurgau 2012 Kellerei Kaltern Muller Thurgau 2012

It's way too easy for Muller-Thurgau - a Swiss crossing of Riesling with table grape Madeleine Royale - to be a ripe, flabby, mess. But, keep your yields low, let the fruit ripen fully, and take great care in winemaking, and you get something like this mouthwatering, fresh, beauty!  Generous aromas of grapefruit, peach, nutmeg and herb lead to mouthwatering flavors of citrus and stone fruit with a dash of mroe herb and spice.  Delicious by itself and a great match for seafood or any dish with plenty of fresh herb.

Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Di Sorbara Vecchia Modena 2013 Product #28266 (In Stock)
Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Di Sorbara Vecchia Modena 2013 Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Di Sorbara Vecchia Modena 2013

A stunning dry Lambrusco that will rock with pizza or cured meats.

"Bright red-ruby. Exotically perfumed bouquet evokes red berry preserves, violet and sweet spices. Fleshy raspberry and red cherry flavors are quite primary, picking up cinnamon and vanilla qualities with air. Shows no rough edges and finishes with good clarity and sweet, vibrant persistence. Very elegant for lambrusco and deliciously crammed with clean, sweet red berry flavors that linger long on the aftertaste. Lambrusco doesn't get much better than this."International Wine Cellar 90 points

Muri-Gries Pinot Grigio 2013 Product #28748 (In Stock)
Muri-Gries Pinot Grigio 2013 Muri-Gries Pinot Grigio 2013

From a Benedictine monastery just south of the Bremmer Pass in southern Tyrol. Very pretty fruit and a silky, fine, texture.

"This working Benedictine monastery has an excellent reputation for their classy wines emerging from south of the Bremmer Pass in southern Tyrol. Founded in 1845 by Benedictine monks from Switzerland, Muri-Gries began producing wine in 1947 and has consistently performed well in my tastings. The 2013 Pinot Grigio Alto Adige was aged five months in stainless steel and 25% spent time in large neutral oak ovals (called foudres in France). It exhibits lovely notes of apple skins, honeyed apricots, white currants and spring flowers in a medium-bodied, fresh, nicely textured style. This dry white should drink well for a year or more."Wine Advocate 89 points

Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg 2013 Product #28720 (In Stock)
Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg 2013 Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg 2013

Elena Walch remains one of the very top winemakers in Alto Adige and her estate Pinot Grigio is a great example of her work. Mostly made in tank, but 15% is fermented and aged in wood for more heft and depth.  Ripe peach, crunch apple, honeysuckle, anise, and fresh almond aromas and flavors take the lead with a very slight, subtle, note of honey lingering under the zippy acids.  Lip-smacking, complex, and very delicious Pinot Grigio!

"Plenty of dried apple, honey and lemon skin character. Full body, with bright acidity and a fresh and clean finish. How serious, pinot grigio."  James Suckling 92 points

Manincor Mason Pinot Nero 2011 Product #27875 (In Stock)
Manincor Mason Pinot Nero 2011 Manincor Mason Pinot Nero 2011

From a 4 hectare site at 400-450 meters altitude that seemed to have been created just for Pinot Noir.  Sandy clay and limestone soils and an excellent southern exposure let Pinot Noir ripen slowly and fully here, giving plenty of fruit but also vibrant acids and an elegant texture.  Raspberry, cranberry, rose petal, licorice, fresh herbs and more swirl around this lively, complex, wine before a fine mineral streak comes up on the finish.  Just a touch of oak for spice and roundness.  Lovely stuff for a wide range of foods or just to pay attention to all on its own.
