"Matured 11 months in American oak, 60% new, the 2011 The Boxer Shiraz gives a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of creme de cassis, blackberry preserves and mocha plus an undercurrent of vanilla and cedar. The palate is very generously fruited, offering a whopping mouthful of spiced blackberry flavors with a low to medium level of silky tannins, enlivening acid and a long finish. Drink this one now to 2016+.
Botrytis wiped out Mollydooker’s Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek vineyards in 2011 yet the top vineyards in McLaren Vale were largely unaffected. The vintage yielded moderate heat, not nearly as hot as the previous vintages, and although the Scooter Merlot could not be made in 2011, other wines in the Mollydooker did not miss a beat."Wine Advocate 89 points
