- Varner Zinfandel Foxglove 2012 Product #28076 (In Stock)
Made from all Paso Robles Fruit, the 2012 Varner Foxglove Zin is unusually classy, smooth, and mellow for this AVA. Big aromas of briary fruit and spice lead to rich flavors of raspberry, red plum, dried flowers, and cracked black pepper. It's juicy enough to stay fresh through a second (or third!) glass but big and structured enough to handle hearty food. A very fine value.
- Vina Robles Red4 2010 Product #27534 (In Stock)
It’s not entirely clear how a couple of guys of Swiss heritage created one of Paso Robles’ most exciting young wine estates. Swiss native Hans Nef spent a couple of years looking for vineyard in California before deciding to buy an scrubby property dotted with oak trees in the Central Coast’s Paso Robles region in 1996. Fellow Swiss native Matthias Gubler joined in 1999 and made Vina Robles’s first vintage that year.
Nef and Gubler motto – “European Inspiration – California Character” describes their entry-level Red4 blend perfectly. As in France’s Rhone Valley, the wine is a blend of distinctive grapes – Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Mourvedre – that complement one another beautifully.
"There’s a robust heartiness to this Rhône-style blend that makes it perfect for drinking on cold nights with spicy barbecue or stew. Mainly Syrah and Petite Sirah, it’s rich in blackberry, bacon and black pepper flavors. Bone dry and moderate in alcohol, it represents great quality for the price."Wine Enthusiast 90 points
