Macrostie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 375ml Product #30012 (In Stock)
Macrostie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 375ml Macrostie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 375ml

Half Bottle  The 2012 was the best Macrostie Chard we'd had in years - but the 2013 is better still.  From vineyards in Carneros, the Russian River Valley, and Wildcat Mountain.  Rich and lush, with plenty of sweet pineapple and tropical fruit, a lash of butter, and bright green apple acids to hold everything in balance. Our favorite value so far from the outstanding 2013 California Chardonnay crop.

Bench Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2014 Product #30986 (In Stock)

This is one of those "whole lot of wine for the money" bottlings - specifically, a wine that plays in the $30+ Pinot range in terms of quality and character for a lot less.  Like all the best California Pinot Noirs, this comes from cool sites - mostly from Sagiacomo Amaral Ranch just north of San Pablo bay plus a little big of Russian River fruit for depth and structure.  Harvested completely ripe (at just 13.8% abv) and then allowed to rest 11 months in French oak (30% new) for roundness, smoothness, and a touch of spice.

The Russian River component - while small - shows up clearly in this fresh Pinot Noir's bright cherry and red berry fruit on the nose and palate.  A handful of crushed flower blossoms plus dashes of earthy sweet spice give even more complexity to the rich texture and long, lingering, finish.  A satisfying match for salmon, poultry or pork dishes and definitely delicious to just enjoy on its own.

Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014 Product #30493 (In Stock)
Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014 Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014

A fascinating blend of rich, ripe, buttery fruit and a touch of lemony, citrusy, snap.  Big aromas of tropical fruit, ginger, spice, and tangy butter on the nose lead to a palate of green pear, apple, and pineapple.  You'll feel the limited new oak more than taste it - it gives the wine body and depth - and love the crisp, clean, lightly buttered finish.

"The less expensive label for Paul Hobbs is his Crossbarn label. He has done a magnificent job of elevating the quality of these wines, which are all made from purchased fruit. Take, for example, the Crossbarn 2014 Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast. There are over 16,000 cases of this wine, which is bone-dry. Ten percent is barrel-fermented, and the rest aged in steel, so it is essentially a naked style of Chardonnay, and the 2014 is just a beauty, with crisp acidity, notes of apple blossom, tangerine oil and honeyed lemons in an extroverted, beautifully pure and natural style. This is delicious, and a terrific value in Chardonnay to drink over the next few years."Wine Advocate 92 points
