- Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014 Product #30493 (In Stock)
A fascinating blend of rich, ripe, buttery fruit and a touch of lemony, citrusy, snap. Big aromas of tropical fruit, ginger, spice, and tangy butter on the nose lead to a palate of green pear, apple, and pineapple. You'll feel the limited new oak more than taste it - it gives the wine body and depth - and love the crisp, clean, lightly buttered finish.
"The less expensive label for Paul Hobbs is his Crossbarn label. He has done a magnificent job of elevating the quality of these wines, which are all made from purchased fruit. Take, for example, the Crossbarn 2014 Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast. There are over 16,000 cases of this wine, which is bone-dry. Ten percent is barrel-fermented, and the rest aged in steel, so it is essentially a naked style of Chardonnay, and the 2014 is just a beauty, with crisp acidity, notes of apple blossom, tangerine oil and honeyed lemons in an extroverted, beautifully pure and natural style. This is delicious, and a terrific value in Chardonnay to drink over the next few years."Wine Advocate 92 points
- Macrostie Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2013 Product #31342 (In Stock)
BIG value here - best Pinot in the store under $30 right now. Ripe and vibrant red berry fruit with lift from cranberry and pomegranate accents. Lots of dark, spicy, fruit on the palate and right on through the long, smoky, finish. An outstanding all-purpose Pinot for sipping, rich foods, and entertaining.
"The winery's larger production offering, this is made from a handful of vineyards, including many used in vineyard-designates. Blending prowess shows in this wine that explodes in plum and clove. Tight, bright acid buoys flavors of strawberry, cranberry and orange, with a twisted funk of earth on the finish."Wine Enthusiast 91 points
