- Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County 2013 Product #30229 (In Stock)
Out of Stock Now, Expected Back In Tuesday December 22. Taking Orders Now.
The Seghesio name has been synonomous with Zinfandel ever since Edoardo Seghesio planted his first vines in Sonoma's Alexander Valley in 1895. Edoardo's great-great-great (?) grandson, Ted Seghesio, still makes the wines here, maintaining the family's 120-year tradition of care and quality – and value.
This wine, their Sonoma County Zinfandel has been pulling down "Best Buy" awards from Wine Spectator since the late 1980s and has made the Top 100 list 4 or 5 times since then. The 2013 is another winner. It’s 95%+ Zinfandel with just a touch of Petit Sirah for color and mid-palate fruit. You’ll find all of Zinfandel’s briary berry fruit on display here from the big aromas of cherry and raspberry to the red/black fruit mélange on the palate and long finish. The dash of herb, sweet spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander), and dusting of black pepper make this a sweet-and-savory party in your mouth.
"A lively, zesty red that offers bright cherry and tarragon aromas and sleekly layered flavors of briary raspberry, nutmeg and fresh-cracked black pepper. Drink now through 2021."Wine Spectator 92 points
- Trentadue Merlot 2012 Product #30315 (In Stock)
Alexander Valley and Merlot are a great fit (making us wonder why we don't see more of them). This is 100% Merlot from Trentadue's Geyersville estate, picked ripe, fermented cool, and given a just right touch of oak. Pretty aromas and flavors of red currant and cherry from front to back, framed by notes of crushed herb and spice. Finishes soft, supple, and very inviting.
- Marietta Angeli Cuvee Sonoma 2011 Product #29822 (In Stock)
Famous for their everyday Lot Series red, this is Marietta's top wine, an estate Zinfandel of real power and depth with a nice touch of class, too.
"The 2011 Angeli Cuvée (15.2% natural alcohol) is composed of primarily Zinfandel blended with Carignane and Petite Sirah. It exhibits briery, peppery, meaty, raspberry and black cherry notes, a generous, succulent mouthfeel, and a heady, lush finish. Like its siblings, this wine delivers terrific intensity, beautiful purity, and lots of value. Drink now-2020."Wine Advocate 90 points
