The fruit is attractive, but the real story here is the zesty, salty, almost seltzery minerality that comes up in the mid-palate and flows across the mouthwatering, saline, finish. You'll love having a cold glass of this great value anytime, but it will shine with steamed shrimp, clams, or mussles, grilled sardines, or any dish that makes you think of the sea.

It's not surprising that Palacio de Fifianes makes such outstanding wine - they've been at it since 1904! The grapes grow on granite-laced soils in the Salnes Valley area of Rías Baixas. This is the "green" corner of Spain, with moisture, fog and cool temperatures blowing in regularly off the nearby Atlantic Ocean. The tang of the sea is in the air and on every table, where some of the world's best and freshest seafood takes center stage. Not surprisingly, you'll find that same hint of brine in this delicious, all tank, Albarino.
Albarino isn't always aromatic, so the lovely scents of ripe citrus, pear, honeysuckle and white pepper are especially delightful here. The flavors are just as lovely, with layers of orange, lime, apricot, and green apple fruit bursting across your palate and gaining complexity from dashes of fennel frond, white pepper, and salty sea shell minerality. It's a vigorous, energetic, wine that keeps on pumping out delicious layers of flavor across a very long, mouthwatering, finish. Well worth popping a bottle just to drink but it would be a shame not to enjoy it with briny shrimp or clams.
