Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2014 Product #31477 (In Stock)
Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2014 Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc Napa Valley 2014

As you'd expect from this estate, here's a right down the middle, classically styled, Napa Sauvignon Blanc - or "Fume Blanc" as Robert Mondavi christened the style.  A blend of 90% Sauivgnon Blanc, 6% Semillon and 4% Sauvignon Musque (for extra aromatics), all aged 5 months in neutral barrel.  Big aromas of sweet citrus, tropical fruit and fresh flowers lead to mouth-filling flavors of grapefruit, green melon, white peachh and a hint of smokey herb.  Finishes clean and crisp and dry.

A perennial "Top 10" wine in fine restaurants across the USA, the 2014 Cakebread once again opens with vanilla, light butter, and cinnamon/nutmeg scents.  Medium-bodied, the flavors follow the nose with the addition of ripe apple, melon, and bright citrus fruit. Bright and fresh with no heaviness.  These guys have been on a bit of a roll the past few vintages, with very solid results.

Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Product #30583 (In Stock)

Dennis Cakebread turns out a classic Napa Cabernet with fine fruit and a firm finish.

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has beautiful crème de cassis fruit, excellent structure on the palate’s backside and represents a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot. Aged primarily in French oak, the wine is youthful and young, with the coiled, restrained character of many 2013s, but the concentration is impressive and the purity is there. Beautiful black and blue fruits are obvious, and the wine structured, delineated and vibrant. Reasonably good value as well. Give it another 6-12 months bottle age, and drink it over the following 12-15 years."Wine Advocate 90+ points

"Sizable, tightly woven tannin wraps itself around black fruit with moderate acidity in this thick, tangy wine, which has 9% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot within the blend. Given less than two years in French oak, 60% of it new, it's an approachable, enjoyable wine that will also age. Drink now through 2021."Wine Enthusiast 91 points
