A perennial "Top 10" wine in fine restaurants across the USA, the 2011 Cakebread once again opens with vanilla, light butter, and cinnamon/nutmeg scents. Medium-bodied, the flavors follow the nose with the addition of ripe apple, melon, and bright citrus fruit. Bright and fresh with no heaviness. These guys have been on a bit of a roll the past few vintages, with very solid results.

In 2009, Cakebread turned out their usual classic Napa Cabernet with just a touch more of everything you like. Smoky, campfire, aromas with notes of black currant, olive, and berry jam. Layered flavors of black currant, olive, smoke and spice and a clean, focused, firm, finish. Fine for steak now and will improve for 8+ years.
