- Celler Cecilio Priorat Negre Gratallops 2013 Product #29951 (In Stock)
From the very first estate to be granted Priorat DO status, it’s an intense, ripe, blend of Grenache for breadth and ripe fruit, Carineña for blue/black notes and minerality, Syrah for smoky depth, and Cabernet Sauvignon for structure and complexity. Full of exuberant youth now, it’s explodes from the glass and completely coats your palate with fruit, mineral, smoke and more. Enjoy it tonight with something off the grill or give it a year or two in cellar for more mineral and savory notes to emerge.
“Another unbelievable wine from 65-year-old vines planted in the schist soils of this area of Priorat. The 2013 Gratallops shows sensational aromatics of spring flowers, licorice, crushed rock, black currants and blackberry notes that all soar from the glass of this lush, seamlessly constructed full-bodied, opulent wine that is just a mind-boggling effort. It is a blend of 50% Grenache, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Carignan and 10% Syrah aged six months in barrel, as well as concrete tanks. Purity and presence of this wine in its aromatics and flavors are just remarkable. Drink it over the next 5-7 years."Wine Advocate 95 points
- Celler Cecilio L'Espill Priorat 2010 Product #29994 (In Stock)
The best way to communicate just how stunning the 2010 L'Espill is? It delivers a very high fraction of the famous Clos Mogador ($100 wine) and half the cost. An old-vine (50+ years) blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Carignan, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon that spends 20-25 days in the fermenter and then 12 months in French oak. At 5 years old, it's starting to show itself, with focused, intense, aromas of spiced blackberry and roasted meat and undertones of warm Priorat slate. It's just as focused and intense on the palate, where the spice, black fruit, charred meat, and hot stone notes repeat and keep on pumping out over fine-grained tannins and dusty crushed stone minerality. A powerful beauty to enjoy for a decade or two.
