- Ch La Roche St. Jean Bordeaux Rouge 2014 Product #30639 (In Stock)
For years you’ve loved the ‘little’ Bordeaux that Ch La Roche St Jean have been pumping out – proving that there’s much more to Bordeaux than eye-wateringly expensive reds that need to be cellared for decades. This large region in Southwest France makes oceans of wine, most of it at very reasonable prices like the wines from Ch La Roche St Jean. This is a classic blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon done without oak, making it a lighter take on traditional Bordeaux flavors.
The aromas are of ripe plums and blackberries, with just a hint of something floral or powdery. A little whiff of cedar reminds you you’re smelling Bordeaux varieties from their homeland and not warmer climes like California or Argentina. There’s a little Bing cherry in there, too. On the palate, that cherry flavor really carries through, and the midpalate is surprisingly rich with lovely, ripe plum flavors – a lot of wine for the money! A little chalky tannin cleans up the finish.
- Ch La Roche St. Jean Blanc 2014 Product #29625 (In Stock)
The 2014 edition of this customer and staff favorite Sauvignon Blanc starts with aromas of just-squeezed lemon and fresh cut grass. On the palate, there’s a nice, juicy hit of riper Meyer lemon that comes in, and the whole thing finishes mouthwateringly clean. While many white Bordeaux are blended with Semillon and Muscadelle to add waxy weight or fruitiness, Ch La Roche St Jean is 100% Sauvignon Blanc. There’s no oak to hide all that tangy fruit, and it’s a very reasonable 12.5% alcohol. If you’ve shied away from New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc because of its over-the-top grapefruitiness or overwhelming, pungent passionfruit flavors, this is the perfect SB for you.
