A stunner of a Chateauneuf, les Safres is about 95% Grenache with just a touch of Syrah. Full of dark raspberry and black cherry fruit with layers of spice, floral, and crushed stone accents, this is silky and poised now and will get fleshier and more rich with time.

As always, one of the most impressive wines in all of Chateauneuf, this marries the intense ripeness of old-vine Grenache to the earthy complexity and power of Mourvedre. Only 70 cases made and about half that imported to the USA. Probably the most pure power you’ll find in any Chateauneuf of the vintage.
