- De Forville Chardonnay Cascina Buc Piemonte 2011 Product #25984 (In Stock)

There's actually a lot of Chardonnay grown in Italy, but it tends to suffer from one of two faults: too expensive or not very good. This is the exception! Barolo's DeForville family planted a small vineyard in Barbaresco to Chardonnay in the mid-1980s and the results are very, very, impressive. This bright, crisp, Chardonnay is vinified and raised in stainless steel to preserve freshness and energy. It's creamy in the mouth with juicy pineapple, green apple, fresh butter, and a touch of chalk but finishes with a lovely squirt of lemony acidity. Great with seafood or just to start off a meal.
- De Forville Barbaresco 2009 Product #26834 (In Stock)

Valter and Paolo Anfosso turn out very traditional, very delicious, Barbaresco and the ripe and wide-open 2009 is a fine example. From vines averaging 35 years of age scattered across Barbaresco, the wine is fermented in tank and then aged 18 months or longer in large oak "botti" before bottling. The 2009 shows classic aromas and flavors of dark red berries, truffle, rose, earth, tar and a hint of leather with bright acidity and firm, but very silky, tannins. Sure, it's going to be better in 5 years, but air it out and pair it with rich meat today and you'll be very, very, satisfied!
