Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er Les Vergers 2007 Product #25220 (In Stock)
Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er Les Vergers 2007 Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er Les Vergers 2007

Labeled for us under the Marie Bernard name to comply with Virginia's restrictive distribution rules, this is the exact same wine sold under the Marc Morey label in France and the rest of the USA.

“Outstanding. Moderate golden color. A perfumed nose of straw, citrus and white peach leads to intense, delicious and beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors culminate in a long, mouth coating and impressively long finish. I quite like this as there is just a touch of backend austerity that confers a "clean" and refreshing character to the finish without falling over into severity. In sum, lovely juice with 3 to 5 years of upside potential, perhaps a bit more.” Allen Meadows 91 points

“The Marc Morey 2007 Chassagne Montrachet Les Vergers smells of honeysuckle, lily, lime, and honeydew melon; comes to the palate lush in texture yet lusciously juicy; and finishes with chalk and stone undertones that offer a perfect foil to the dripping ripeness of melon and liquid flowers. Hints of lime zest and red currant in the finish offer further counterpoint and serve for a bit of invigoration. This is irresistible already, although I imagine one could hold if for a half dozen years.” Wine Advocate 91 points

Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er En Virondot 2007 Product #25222 (In Stock)
Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er En Virondot 2007 Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er En Virondot 2007

Labeled for us under the Marie Bernard name to comply with Virginia's restrictive distribution rules, this is the exact same wine sold under the Marc Morey label in France and the rest of the USA.

“Outstanding. A pretty and attractively scented nose features notes of citrus, baking spice, lychee nut and rose water that precedes the nicely rich, round and relatively powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent focus and drive on the impressively long and mineral-driven finish. After two hours in a decanter, this was a radically different, and better, wine than when it was initially opened.” Allen Meadows 91 points

“From a steep, rocky section of vines above the Caillerets, the Marc Morey 2007 Chassagne Montrachet En Virondot offers an aromatic and gustatory combination of brine and meat stock mingled with fresh lemon – along with an eventually sense of overt chalkiness – remind me of Chablis. Crystalline mineral aspects seem to shimmer through the citrus, leading to a refreshing and invigorating finish. Some tasters might find this lacking in sweetness of fruit, although there is a Chenin-like note of quince. This is one of Mollard's most interesting wines of the vintage, and should prove fascinating to follow over at least the next 5-6 years.” Wine Advocate 91 points

Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Chassagne 1er les Chenevottes 2008 Product #25217 (In Stock)

“Outstanding. A touch of reduction knocks down the expressiveness of the nose somewhat but not enough to conceal the otherwise cool, ripe and pretty orchard fruit and citrus aromas. The delicious, rich, round and nicely plump flavors possess good mid-palate concentration and are set off against a racy, intense, detailed and lightly mineral-suffused finish that also displays a touch of austerity. Excellent.”Allen Meadows 91 points

Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Chassagne 1er Les Vergers Product #29379 (In Stock)
Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Chassagne 1er Les Vergers Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Chassagne 1er Les Vergers

Facing almost due East towards the road to St. Aubin, Vergers clay and limestone soils always gives wines of fine precision and clarity. In 2010, there’s an extra dose of richness and ripe fruit but still plenty of cut and definition.  Delicious right now and for at least another 5-8 years.

“Cool and chalky on the nose. Intense and fresh. Neat and nicely delineated. Very juicy and appetising. Very successful.”  JancisRobinson.com 17/20 points

“This is aromatically similar to the Chenevottes in the sense of displaying very mild exotic fruit aromas, but it too remains quite fresh, indeed even relatively cool. There is good energy, cut and detail to the medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a linear, dry and sneaky persistent finish. Moreover the flavor profile and mouth feel are substantially finer and this is actually notably finer than usual.”Allen Meadows 91 points

“Mineral and earth tones underline this apple- and grapefruit-laced white. Steely, with vivid acidity and well-integrated oak. Finishes clean and long. Drink now through 2021.”Wine Spectator 93 points

Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Puligny 1er Les Referts 2007 Product #25225 (In Stock)
Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Puligny 1er Les Referts 2007 Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) Puligny 1er Les Referts 2007

“From contract fruit, the Marc Morey 2007 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts is dominated by nut oils, lime, white peach, and honey, playing against chalk, salt and iodine, in a display that hints at Chablis or at Riesling. This is silken-textured, irresistibly luscious, and forward, yet not without mineral fascination, and lingeringly savory. I would expect it to perform well for 5-6 years, but can see no other good reason to wait.” Wine Advocate 92 points

Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Chassagne 1er En Virondot Product #29377 (In Stock)
Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Chassagne 1er En Virondot Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Chassagne 1er En Virondot

Virondot sits at the very top of the Chassagne-Montrachet hill, just above the famous Caillerets.  The vineyard is separated from the rest of the 1er Cru sites below it by a small path and is surrounded by scrub rather than vines – only the rocky, very well-drained, soil allows grapes to thrive this high up the hill. As Bernard likes to joke, Virondot is a “label monopole.”  Because the only other grower (who owns about 10% of the vines) doesn’t bottle a wine with this vineyard name, Marc Morey is the only producer that sells a Chassagne-Montrachet En Virondot.  In 2010, it’s the perfect blend of ripe, pure, Chardonnay fruit with Burgundy’s distinctive minerality and length.

“Sweet Spot Outstanding. Very mild reduction reduces slightly the expressiveness of the white flower, lemon rind and wet stone suffused nose. There is wonderful transparency to the cool, rich and palate coating flavors that conclude in a mineral-inflected, dry, clean and gorgeously intense finish that combines both outstanding length with superb complexity. This is the finest example that I have ever seen and is well worth your consideration.”Allen Meadows 93 points

Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Puligny 1er Les Referts Marie Bernard (Marc Morey) 2010 Puligny 1er Les Referts

With its neighbors Combettes and Perrieres, the Referts vineyard makes up Puligny Montrachet’s boundary with Meursault. There’s always plenty of power and spice to this wine at Marc Morey, and in 2010 there’s an extra-fine texture and precision as well.  A truly delicious Puligny Montrachet!

“Sweet Spot Outstanding. Here too there is a mild touch of reduction that does not materially detract from the very ripe pear, white peach and apricot aromas. There is impressive opulence to the plush, round and sappy flavors that enjoy excellent mid-palate concentration that end in a textured, intense and well-balanced finish that delivers strikingly good length. I also like the lovely complexity and overall, this is a relatively refined Referts.”Allen Meadows 92 points
