We think of Northern Rhone Syrah as being powerful and dark, but here’s an example of Crozes-Hermitage that is almost Burgundian in grace and complexity. The aromas are floral and swirling with nice hints of black plum, blackberry, and smoked meats. In the mouth, it’s vibrant and fresh with plenty of spicy black fruit in the middle and then floral and stone notes emerging at the end. An elegant take on Crozes that will work beautifully with smoked pork or grilled lamb or even roast chicken.
