Fun, fruity, fizz here from the very serious folks at Mas de Daumas. Made from juice bled off young-vine Cabernet vats, the still fermenting pink wine finishes in sealed stainless steel tanks to capture frothy fizz. Loaded with ripe strawberry, candied cherry, and watermelon fruit and just a hint of Cabernet herb and mineral, this finishes soft and clean. Makes you smile.

Critics' scores are a poor way to understand wines this unique and complex, but the Advocate's review of the 2006 includes a very nice description (if an understated rating!).
"The 2006 Mas de Daumas Gassac red leads with pungent brown spice- and pepper-dusted fresh mulberry and black currant. Like its 2007 counterpart, fresh, faintly tart, bitter blue and black fruits rule the palate, accompanied by smoky black tea, tobacco, and cedar. The wine’s lean, bright cast is well-grounded in a palpable sense of sheer density, leading to a finish of impressive tenacity. This promises at least 8-10 years of interesting bottle maturation – again, based on an experience with mature vintages that was recently considerably refreshed." Wine Advocate 88 points
