- Paitin Arneis Langhe Elisa 2014 Product #29935 (In Stock)
If this crackling 2014 Piemonte white seems a little zestier, fresher, and more mineral than you'd expect - well, that's what blending 15% Riesling into the Arneis base does. Peach and passion fruit aromas and flavors get a boost from Riesling's lime and stone notes. A dash of white pepper and hints of fresh fennel add interest and plenty of juicy stone and citrus fruit drive the mouthwatering finish where hints of stone and slate linger. Tasty stuff indeed!
- Paitin Barbaresco Serra 2012 Product #30172 (In Stock)
Paitin makes three different wines from their excellent Serraboella vineyard, with Serra coming from the “young” vines – although much of this stock is 15-20 years old. “Vibrancy” is the key word here, with fresh aromas of red berry, ginger, nutmeg, and smoke and a zippy cherry/raspberry palate with accents of spice and herb. Even since Galloni tasted this, it’s smoothed out and shows plenty of fruit and a silky texture. The most immediately delicious of the three Barbaresco (although sure to improve).
"Paitin's 2012 Barbaresco Serra bursts from the glass with exuberant red fruit, flowers, spices and crushed rocks. There is no shortage of intensity, although the Serra comes across as a bit rough around the edges, especially next to the 2011. It will be interesting to see what the last bit of aging brings. Drink 2016-2024" Vinous (Galloni) 89-91 points
"A bright, juicy, red exhibiting cherry, raspberry, licorice, spice and floral flavors. Becomes more tannic, lingering on the moderately long finish. Decant now or cellar for two to three years. Best from 2018-2013."Wine Spectator 92 points
- Paitin Barbaresco Sori Paitin Vecchie Vigne 1999 Product #30175 (In Stock)
Made from the 65 year-old vines at the heart of the Sori Paitin vineyard within view of the villages of Neive, Treiso and Barbaresco. The 1999 vintage marked the first time these vines had ever been bottled separately, and ever since then, this has been Paitin's top wine.
"The 1999 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin Vecchie Vigne is dark, powerful and opulent, with more than enough stuffing to age well for the better part of the next decade. Smoke, menthol, tar, black fruit and French oak blossom in the glass as this resonant, exuberant Barbaresco show off its unique, totally compelling personality. The French oak is present, but well balanced at the same time." Vinous (Galloni) 92 points
"Impressive wine. Rich aromas of ripe fruit and freshly ground spices. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, long finish. A blockbuster, yet very polished. Best after 2003. 500 cases made."Wine Spectator 93 points
