- Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014 Product #30493 (In Stock)
A fascinating blend of rich, ripe, buttery fruit and a touch of lemony, citrusy, snap. Big aromas of tropical fruit, ginger, spice, and tangy butter on the nose lead to a palate of green pear, apple, and pineapple. You'll feel the limited new oak more than taste it - it gives the wine body and depth - and love the crisp, clean, lightly buttered finish.
"The less expensive label for Paul Hobbs is his Crossbarn label. He has done a magnificent job of elevating the quality of these wines, which are all made from purchased fruit. Take, for example, the Crossbarn 2014 Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast. There are over 16,000 cases of this wine, which is bone-dry. Ten percent is barrel-fermented, and the rest aged in steel, so it is essentially a naked style of Chardonnay, and the 2014 is just a beauty, with crisp acidity, notes of apple blossom, tangerine oil and honeyed lemons in an extroverted, beautifully pure and natural style. This is delicious, and a terrific value in Chardonnay to drink over the next few years."Wine Advocate 92 points
- Paul Hobbs Chardonnay Russian River 2014 Product #30934 (In Stock)
Another great release of this rich but lightly oaked RRV classic. A very food-friendly Chard that still has good depth and weight.
"The 2014 Chardonnay (Russian River Valley) is bright, fresh and very nicely delineated, with plenty of orchard and yellow stone fruit nuances. This attractive, mid-weight Chardonnay will drink well pretty much upon release." Vinous (Galloni) 89-92 points
"As for the 2014 Chardonnays, they all possess great acid and obvious intensity. I’ll keep my notes short, but they are all brilliant wines, including the 2014 Chardonnay Russian River, which has plenty of citrus oil, white flowers, quince and peach."Wine Advocate 90-92 points
