I don’t really have a template for great Spanish (much less Majorcan!) Merlot, so it may be more helpful here to think in terms of the very top St. Emilion from Bordeaux or Bolgheri super-Tuscans. Fantastic aromatics feature coffee, red plum, mocha, black currant and red raspberry leaf elements along with a nicely integrated touch of smoky oak. The wine enters with great focus and fills your mouth with flavors of plum, currant, cherry, coffee and mocha accented by touches of anise and cigar box. Everything fans out nicely on the back, leading to a broad, lingering, finish of raspberry, coffee, and anise. Concentrated but also wonderful elegance and grace. Drinking now and with a decade + in front of it.
