"Intense graphite and mineral notes underpin the 2012 Barbera d'Asti Tre Vigne. Black cherries, smoke, plums, licorice and dark spices flesh out in a vibrant, pulsating wine built on serious Asti energy. A grippy, intense finish rounds things out in style. From the family that "saved" Arneis, grapes for this wine come from the middle of the Roero area, in Santo Stefano Roero. An unoaked, dry, medium bodied white wine with crisp acidity, the Arneis is well-balanced, elegant wine with good complexity and a lingering finish.

Vietti Barbera d'Alba Scarrone 2011 Product #28390 (In Stock)
Vietti Barbera d'Alba Scarrone 2011 Vietti Barbera d'Alba Scarrone 2011

There is a ton of wine in this bottle, and it’s wine that works as well being served at a formal dinner party with sophisticated food as it does with a couple of slices of pizza shared with someone special.

"The 2011 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone is drop- dead gorgeous. Powerful, rich and intense, the 2011 flows across the palate with layers of dark, mineral-infused fruit. Smoke, tar and licorice all flesh out in a Barbera that impresses for its pure drive and pedigree. The 2011 Scarrone brings together the fabulous depth and opulence of the year, but with a marvelous sense of restraint. This is a terrific showing from Vietti."  Antonio Galloni 92+ Points

"Good saturated, bright red-ruby. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate. Fat, lush and round, offering terrific intensity to its black cherry fruit. Finishes with superb length and very suave tannins. Currado is now using more large Stockinger casks for this wine."International Wine Cellar 91 points

Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2010 Product #28236 (In Stock)
Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2010 Vietti Barolo Castiglione 2010

Winemaker Luca Currado makes his outstanding value Castiglione from the family’s smaller holdings in some of Barolo’s most famous “crus” or vineyards.  As always, the 2010 edition is based on fruit from vineyards that most bottle separately – sites like Bussia, Ravera, Bricco del Fiasco, Fossati, and Ciabot Berton – and then charge 2-3 times more for.  It’s a wine that far outshines the typical “Barolo Normale” and marries a lovely, lush, and open texture today with the acid/tannic structure Barolo needs to age for a decade plus.  Outstanding value.

“The 2010 Barolo Castiglione is beautiful in the way it brings together the vibrancy of the year with a soft, inviting textural presence. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet spices, anise and red berries are all woven together nicely in the glass. With time in the glass, the wine blossoms with exquisite finesse, floral aromatics and exquisite overall balance. Ripe, silky tannins support the exquisite finish. An insanely beautiful wine, the 2010 will give readers a good idea of just how great the 2010 vintage is at Vietti. This is first-class juice.”  Antonio Galloni 94 points

“This is a young Barolo that is very aromatic and fresh with dried flowers, plums and light cloves and nutmeg character. Full body, with firm tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Balanced and refined. More linear than the Brunate with more depth this year. Better in 2016.”  James Suckling 95 points

Vietti Barbera D'alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2010 Vietti Barbera D'alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2010

From nearly 100 year old Barbera vines in the heart of a Barolo vineyard, this once again shows off fantastic concentration and power for this varietal.  Dark, concentrated, black cherry and raspberry fruit with accents of aged balsamic, chocolate, tar, smoke, and licorice root.  The first time Wine Spectator reviewed this wine (it's 5th vintage in 1997, they gave is a whopping 95 point rating and said, “Who knew Barbera produced this quality?”  This is a fine opportunity to get to know one of Italy’s great wines – and one that’s a joy to drink as well!

"Vietti's 2010 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia shows the pedigree of these old vines. Rich and explosive in style, yet buffered by fabulous minerality, the 2010 Vigna Vecchia stands out for its exceptional balance and polish. This is a great vintage for one of Piedmont's icon wines."
