- Ch Puy Servain Bergerac Rose 2012 Product #27062 (In Stock)
-
-
You'll find fine rosé in virtually every corner of France, including Bordeaux - after all, what else would the Bordalais want to drink after a hot day working in the vines? This beauty from the satellite appellation of Bergerac is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon bled off the vats used for red wine. Very fresh and winey on the nose with definite aromas of tobacco leaf, fresh herb, and tangy cherry. In the mouth the herb comes up strong and clear over the cherry and watermelon fruit and a bright beam of acidity cuts under the rich texture. Finishes spicy and mouthwatering with fine length and freshness.
- Ch Le Prieure St-laurent Bordeaux 375ml 2011 Product #26689 (In Stock)
-
-
No big name winemaker or famous vineyards here. Instead, just a tasty, juicy, mouthful of Bordeaux currant fruit with a whiff of fresh herb. Savory and satisfying and built to enjoy now on its own or with roasts or stews. Nice value.
- Ch La Chapelle Du Couvent Blaye 2009 Product #26362 (In Stock)
-
-
From the sturdy wood case to the sophisticated label and sophisticated aromas and flavors, this is the kind of young Bordeaux you’d expect to cost $30 or more. Right out of the gate, classic Bordeaux aromas of blackcurrant, black raspberry, cedar and tobacco with just a hint of roasted coffee. Very polished and elegantly textured in the mouth where the blackcurrant fruit shines and accents of more cedar, coffee and bitter chocolate are lifted by sophisticated acidity. On the finish, the blackcurrant, tangy cherry and coffee flavors linger nicely as fine, polished, tannins provide support and a last whiff of uncured tobacco curls around at the end. If you enjoy just drinking fine Bordeaux by itself, this is a beauty – silky, perfumed, and subtle – but it will really shine with beef, lamb, or pork loin as well as earthy mushrooms with thyme.
- Ch La Roche St. Jean Blanc 2012 Product #26989 (In Stock)
-
-
Another terrific release of our best-selling Bordeaux Blanc ever! A difficult vintage for reds, but just about perfect for whites, the 2012 harks back to 2009's richness and breadth. Aromas and flavors of white pineapple, honeysuckle, and orange zest in a round, wide-open, Sauvignon Blanc that finishes with a squirt of white grapefruit acid and a pleasant touch of citrus pith. The richness and round texture would make you think there's Semillon in there somewhere, but it's just 100% Sauvignon Blanc harvested at perfect ripeness. A great all-purpose white for parties, salads, fish, or just sipping on a warm afternoon.
- Ch La Roche St. Jean Bordeaux Rouge 2011 Product #26807 (In Stock)
-
-
A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%). This is a soft, fruit filled, take on Bordeaux that fills your mouth with juicy red currant and black berry fruit accented by a touch of spice. Subtle notes of fresh herb and tobacco keep this anchored in Bordeaux, and there’s just the enough ripe tannin to let it work well at table (but not enough to get in the way of solo sipping).
- Ch La Rame Bordeaux Blanc 2011 Product #26930 (In Stock)
-
-
While most white Bordeaux are a more even blend of Bordeaux's 3 white grapes, this delicious white from Ch La Rame is 95% Sauvignon Blanc with just a touch of Semillon. Its fresh aromas of cut grass and citrus rind are bracing and inviting. On the palate, it's refreshing and has a delicious hint of salinity. Bring on the fish and goat cheese!
- Ch Graville Lacoste Graves 2011 Product #26339 (In Stock)
-
-
A delicious white Bordeaux in an unusual style. Ch Graville-Lacoste's Graves Blanc contains 75-80% Semillon most years, with Sauvignon Blanc and a touch of Muscadelle making up the balance. The aromas are delicate, but inviting - pear skin, fresh hay, and that candle wax/lanolin aroma typical of Semillon. On the palate it's softer and rounder than most white Bordeaux we taste, and it somehow manages to create this roundness without a lot of excess weight. While it's a young wine, it somehow feels a bit more mature and resolved than you'd expect. This would make an absolutely delightful aperitif, and would also be fantastic with mild cheeses or gently spiced Indian food.
- La Fleur D'or Sauternes 2010 375ml Product #26686 (In Stock)
-
-
Classic Sauternes flavors that won't break the bank! The aromas feature candied pineapple and lemon with a hint of creme caramel. Starts off bright and almost tangy before the sweet honey, candied fruit, and creme brulee flavors expand to coat your palate. Bright acidity freshens things at the end and lead to a long, gently sweet, finish.
- Ch La Cardonne Medoc 2009 Product #27116 (In Stock)
-
-
Agree with everything Parker wrote, except perhaps the slightly too low rating. An excellent Bordeaux to enjoy now - 2020 or so.
"This is a major sleeper of the vintage and the best wine I have ever tasted from La Cardonne, which is in the northern end of the Medoc, near the town of Blaignan. A blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, this 2009 offers up notes of tobacco leaf, cassis, and loamy soil with underbrush nuances. With excellent texture, impressive purity, and medium to full body, this is a rich, over-achieving cru bourgeois to drink over the next decade." Wine Advocate 88 points
- Clos Du Roy Fronsac 2009 Product #26342 (In Stock)
-
-
Another great 2009 Bordeaux with plenty of stuffing but also loads of immediate appeal. Mainly Merlot here in Fronsac and just a touch of new oak. It's rich and creamy on the nose and palate with ripe red and black currant fruit, cedar, baking spice, and tobacco notes. A hint of bitter chocolate starts on the back and lingers on the long finish. Juicy and fresh in the middle with a dark, creamy, character at the end.
- Les Gartieux De Pichon Lalande Pauillac 2004 Product #26385 (In Stock)
-
-
Made only in larger cope years from younger vines at this "Super Second" Pauillac estate. The 2004 edition opens with classic Pauillac aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco and cedar that get stronger with air. Still young and powerful in the mouth, but mellows with air to show ripe, almost lush, fruit with accents of cigar, cedar and spice box. Rock solid and very good now and for another 5 or so years.
- Ch Mondot Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2004 Product #26632 (In Stock)
-
-
The second wine of top Saint Emilion's Troplong Mondo, this is still mainly Merlot but with more Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc than the "big wine." Like so many of the better 2004s, this has developed beautifully and now delivers a lovely expression of velvety St. Emilion. Aromas of currant, plum, cedar and tobacco carry through on the silky palate where a note of dusty cocoa emerges. Lovely stuff with beef, lamb, or even all by itself.
- Ch Rieussec Sauternes Grand Cru 375ml 2007 Product #25276 (In Stock)
-
-
"This has a very primal nose, the oak exposed at the moment although there is obviously a great deal of fruit concentration underneath. The palate is well balanced, a little oaky on the entry, dried honey, lemon curd, apricot and orange peel towards the linear finish. Tightly coiled Sauternes, quite modern in style, this should develop over 8-10 years in the bottle before really opening up and one hopes, evolve a little more “personality”. Drink 2011-2025."Wine Advocate 93 points
"Balanced and very spicy, with almond paste and apricot. Full-bodied, medium sweet, with a long, fruity, tangy finish. Layered and stylish."Wine Spectator 93-96 points
- Ch Prieure-Lichine Margaux 2004 Product #18954 (In Stock)
-
-
The better wines of the often maligned 2004 vintage are graceful, silky, things that deliver plenty of classic Bordeaux flavor in a silky smooth package. That's what you'll find here in a wine that's right in the window today but with another 8 or so years of growth to come.
"A sleeper of the vintage, the deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Prieure-Lichine is all about finesse and flavor intensity. Not a blockbuster, but rather a wine of sensual appeal, it offers superb aromatics of cherry liqueur, underbrush, cedar, and spring flowers. Silky and soft, with medium body, beautiful fruit, and a depth that builds incrementally, this consumer-friendly Margaux can be enjoyed over the next 12-15 years. This defines charm."Wine Advocate 90 points
- Ch Leoville Poyferre St Julien 2006 Product #25714 (In Stock)
-
-
A bit of a monster now, but getting close to showing the complexity burried within. Give it another few years and then watch it sing!
"Full ruby-red. Ripe aromas of currant, milk chocolate and smoky oak. Lush, sweet and full, with superripe yet backward flavors of dark berries, dark chocolate and minerals. Wonderfully layered, structured wine whose excellent vinosity and firm tannins call for several years of patience."International Wine Cellar 91 points
"Dense ruby/purple, with sweet blackberry and black currant fruit with hints of smoke, espresso roast, and new saddle leather, this is another impressively endowed but tannic, backward style of wine. The concentration, brightness, and depth are all present, but I can't see it being even approachable in less than 5-7 years. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2028."Wine Advocate 91 points
- Ch Latour Pauillac 2004 Product #26094 (In Stock)
-
-
Just entering the drinking window now and ready to last another 20 years.
"A terrific effort from Administrator Frederic Engerer and owner Francois Pinault, the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Latour exhibits a strong cassis character intermixed with notes of crushed rocks, earth, cedar, and forest floor. Racy, elegant, but powerful with medium to full body, and sweet tannin, it will benefit from 5-7 years of cellaring, and should keep for three decades. It is a very impressive offering."Wine Advocate 95 points
"Captivating aromas of currant, black licorice and spices, with just a hint of sweet tobacco. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long, long finish. Structured and racy. Best after 2011."Wine Spectator 95 points
