Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 375ml Product #29453 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 375ml Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 375ml

Half Bottle. Guillaume Michel crafts his “village” level Chablis from seven different Chablis vineyards located on both sides of the river.  The organically farmed vines are up to 50 years of age and produce clean, ripe, succulent fruit – even in difficult vintages like 2013.  From the classic green-tinged color and modest 12.5% alcohol, you might expect this to be sharp or green tasting, but even with no oak to hide any flaws, it’s a lovely marriage of generous, ripe green and yellow apple, tangerine, and lemon/lime fruit and Chablis classic cut and salty stone minerality.  An easy wine to enjoy all by itself or with a wide range of foods, but you certainly will love it with traditional Chablis matches like oysters and clams!

"Tangerine, spice and hazelnut overtones emerge from Louis Michel's 2013 Chablis. This textured, expressive, mid-weight Chablis is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years."  Antonio Galloni 87-88 points

"A more complex nose features notes of exotic dried yellow fruit, white flowers and a whiff of sea breeze. There is more volume and better punch to the delicious, clean and somewhat drier finish. This too will be approachable young."Allen Meadows 86-89 points

Dom Des Malandes Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2011 Half Bottle Product #28285 (In Stock)
Dom Des Malandes Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2011 Half Bottle Dom Des Malandes Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2011 Half Bottle

HALF BOTTLE.  From 40+ year-old vines in the heart of Fourchaume, proper, harvested the first 3 days of September, just before the rain that caused so many problems with rot for others.  The fruit came in just under 12.5% alcohol with vibrant acidity that benefited from 12 months in neutral oak.  As estate manager Lyne Marchive says of her 2011s overall, “It's classic in style but not unduly austere plus it should drink well early if someone prefers it."  Don’t miss the chance to get some in half-bottles and magnum, too!

"A very slight chew to give texture, plus plenty of bright green apple fruit. Great intensity on the mid-palate – certainly has ageing potential."  Jancis Robinson Purple Pages 17/20 points

"Sweet Spot Outstanding. A dense nose of ripe white orchard fruit, floral notes and a hint of tidal pool character precedes the very rich and suave flavors that possess good power and excellent depth and length. This is a relatively big yet refined Fourchaume that displays plenty of mid-palate dry extract."Allen Meadows 90-93 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013 Product #29452 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013

Some of the most chalky soils in Chablis here, and you’ll taste the chalk and limestone in the wine.  Forets has more power, but Vaillons delivers fantastic tension and purity.

"The 2013 Chablis Vaillons is bright, punchy and expressive. White flowers, green pear and lemon oil jump from the glass as this expressive, wonderfully nuanced wine shows off its class and personality. The hugely appealing finish is all about direction, energy and focus."  Antonio Galloni 91-93 points

"There is good freshness to the floral, pear and apple aromas that exhibit a top note of mineral reduction. The medium weight flavors possess that wonderful element of inner mouth perfume along with subtle minerality before terminating in a detailed and lingering finish."Allen Meadows 89-91 points

"The 2013 Chablis Forêts is a little richer and more powerful than the Montmains owing to the slightly warmer microclimate. At the same time, the heavy presence of limestone in these soils yields a wine with bright, saline-infused minerality and considerable steely tension."  Antonio Galloni 90-92 points

"Here too there are notes of mineral reduction on the citrus, apple and algae suffused nose. The generous yet refined medium-bodied flavors possess good mid-palate concentration as well as a lovely bead of minerality that continues onto the clean, refreshing and saline finish. This isn't quite as refined as the Montmains but it compensates by displaying a bit more minerality and persistence."Allen Meadows 88-91 points

Dauvissat Chablis Village 2013 Product #29526 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis Village 2013 Dauvissat Chablis Village 2013

Yes, the Dauvissat village Chablis costs as much as many growers’ 1er Crus.  I’d argue it out-drinks most 1er Cru Chablis, though.  It’s very, very, good and you can drink it tonight with joy and satisfaction.

"Bright yellow. Ripe aromas of lemon drop, spices and honey. Ripe, sweet and easygoing, offering lovely texture for village wine. No shortage of tension here but this very fresh, dense wine comes across as sweeter and fatter than the 2012 version. Finishes sweet and long, with good precision to its citrus and stone flavors. As in most vintages, this is a potentially superb village wine."  Steven Tanzer 89-91 points

"Lemon oil, white flowers and orchard fruit are laced together in Dauvissat's 2013 Chablis. There is plenty of nuance in the glass, but I also can't help noting how open the Chablis is at this very early stage. The 2013 finishes with notable freshness and vibrancy. Today my sense is that the 2013 will be a very pretty early drinker, but then again, the wines here have a proven track record of aging exceptionally well."  Antonio Galloni 87-99 points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Sechet 2012 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Sechet 2012

"Stony aromas of white pepper, biscuit and white truffle. Dense and energetic, with a distinctly savory saline quality leavening the intense lemon and mineral flavors. Finishes stony and very long, with terrific energy and grip."  Steve Tanzer 92+ points

"The 2012 Chablis Sechet opens with the most exquisite, expressive aromatics imaginable. Weightless and totally gracious in the glass, the 2012 is a wine of sublime understatement. Hints of petrol, graphite and smoke on the finish suggest the 2012 will develop considerable aromatic nuance in bottle. What a gorgeous wine this is."  Antonio Galloni 94 points

Dom Des Malandes Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012 Product #28424 (In Stock)
Dom Des Malandes Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012 Dom Des Malandes Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012

Not just Grand Cru, but the very best Grand Cru in all of Chablis, the famous sun-washed, chalk-laced, hill of Les Clos.  Fruit this ripe, powerful, and perfect deserves extra attention, so this is the only wine at the Domaine to receive new oak (about 15%).  Very Grand Cru on the nose where deep aromas of green apple, lemon oil, apple and peach blossom, and wet chalk swirl in the glass.  In the mouth, powerful and deep with riper fruit – golden apple, pineapple, yellow peach – plus a good dose of lime and lime zest.  Dense in the middle and long on the ripe but salty/savory finish where fruit and stone flavors linger. Give it an hour of air now or cellar for 5 years and then enjoy for 10 more.  Brilliant – and less expensive than any good 1er Cru Puligny!

"Really tropical fruit, and a bit of oak here – distinguished and distinctive. Very immediate and open – a real crowd pleaser without sacrificing authenticity and typicality."  JancisRobinson.com 17.5/20 points

"From a .53 ha parcel planted in 1962 and matured in mostly older oak. This is a bit more elegant compared to the Vaudésir with its ripe, pure and pretty aromas of lavender, apple, wet stone and white orchard fruit scents. There is fine density to the powerful and muscular broad-scaled flavors that manage to retain a fine sense of detail on the palate staining and wonderfully persistent finish. This is presently quite backward it will need a few years to find its center." Allen Meadows 91-93 points

"Medium yellow straw in color, this barrel fermented (95% used, 5% new) Grand Cru reveals refined aromatics with elements of citrus zest, stony minerals, and a light touch of honeyed oak. It's densely flavored with layers of rich fruit and hints of light sandalwood, finishing long with rich extract. This is a complex and elegant wine that will drink well over the next decade."i-Wine Review 94 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2010 Product #26235 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2010 Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2010

"This is perhaps ever-so-slightly riper still than the Vaudésir, yet the expressive nose remains cool and fresh with aromas of white flowers, tidal pool and citrus nuances that merge gracefully into full-bodied and overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that also possess plenty of acid-buffering dry extract on the tight, intense and highly enduring finish. Excellent cellar potential."Allen Meadows 92-94 points

"The 2010 Chablis Grenouilles, on the other hand, is much more closed down. Today it is the wine’s crystalline minerality that comes through most clearly. Hints of jasmine, green pears and apples develop in the glass, but this is a wine that needs time before its full personality begins to emerge. It is above all else a wine of finesse and, at times, an almost feminine vulnerability. Anticipated maturity: 2014."Wine Advocate 94+ points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013 Product #29529 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2013

Always excellent, in 2013 Vaillons is clearly one of the better 1er Cru vineyards of the vintage.  Always a vivid, minerally, wine, this edition seems to have an extra gear of concentration and depth.

"Bright yellow. Ripe aromas of lemon drop and biscuit, with sexy nuances of wild herbs, ginger and white flowers. Vibrant and energetic in the mouth, spreading out to saturate the palate with classic, sharply chiseled flavors of ginger and crushed stone. Finishes tactile, saline and palate-staining, with impressive penetration. Vaillons appears to have been a favored cru in 2013, as most of this cru's fruit was ripe enough to have benefited from an early harvest, before conditions deteriorated."  Stephen Tanzer 91-93 points

"Slate, crushed rocks, smoke and white orchard fruit blossom in the 2013 Chablis Vaillons, a wine that sizzles with energy, tension and pure class. The flavors are remarkably pure and vivid from start to finish. I very much like the intensity here. There is so much to look forward to in this tense, tightly wound Vaillons."   Antonio Galloni 92-94 points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2013 Product #29530 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2013 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2013

Cooler soils than Vaillon and Sechet means Forest (or Forets – you’ll see it both ways) ripens a bit more slowly, but these 40 year-old vines (average age) deliver concentration and honeyed richness that’s uncommon at the 1er Cru level.  Always a favorite.

"Bright, subdued aromas of pear drop and citrus fruit. Densely packed and saline in the mouth, offering terrific stony energy and depth along with a sexy impression of sucrosite. Still tight, austere and uncompromisingly dry for all its richness. More obviously soil-driven than the foregoing samples--really classic stony Chablis premier cru."  Steven Tanzer 91-94 points

"An exotic, beguiling beauty, the 2013 Chablis La Forest seems to bring together the expansiveness of the Sechets and the intense minerality of the Vaillons. Graphite, minerals and exotic, perfumed fruit nuances grace the palate in an exceptionally beautiful, vivid Chablis to treasure over the next two decades."   Antonio Galloni 92-94 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012 Product #29472 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012 Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012

"Here the nose is reduced and exhibiting enough SO2 to warrant decanting the wine if you're going to try a bottle young. Otherwise there is superb intensity and striking minerality to the rounded big-bodied flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration before terminating in a bitter lemon and youthfully austere finish. I like the persistence and if this can add more depth than my score envisions I could be overly conservative."Allen Meadows 92 points

"Flinty minerality and earth on the nose, with a hint of citrus zest in the deep background. Dense and rich but unforthcoming and austere, with stony mineral and oyster shell flavors complicated by a sea breeze salinity. Quite backward today (these grand crus were bottled two months before my early-June visit), finishing with a lemony nuance, a suggestion of youthful bitterness and a late hint of almond."International Wine Cellar 92+ points

Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2013 Product #29531 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2013 Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2013

The largest of Chablis Grand Cru, probably the first planted, and usually credited as the very best.  Les Clos never lacks for depth or power, but can be more restrained and even shy in its youth.  A profound, even intellectual, wine.

"Bright pale yellow. Pure, bright aromas of crushed stone and lemon are much tighter than those of the Preuses. At once pure and powerful, with a strong spine of citrussy acidity and stony minerality keeping the complex flavors of lemon, sweet gingery spices, vanilla and pepper under wraps today. Seems much less evolved and showy today than the Preuses. Finishes with a superb light touch and subtle palate-staining citrus persistence."  Stephen Tanzer 94-96 points

"While the Preuses is an obvious wine that literally jumps out of the barrel, the 2013 Chablis Les Clos is a far more intellectual wine. There are more questions than answers in a seductive Chablis full of allure. Seamless and silky in the glass, the Clos is all about texture. Hints of citrus, green pear, sage and mint open up, but the Clos hovers in a stratosphere of pure pleasure. In a word: magnificent."  Antonio Galloni 94-96 points

Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2013 Product #29532 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2013 Dauvissat Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses 2013

On the northern end of the Grand Cru slope, Preuses gets plenty of sunshine – an aid to ripening – but has an amphitheater shape that protects Dauvissat’s vines from the heat of the afternoon sun.  The result is a ripe, succulent, Grand Cru that avoids exotic notes and retains all of the wonderful Chablis acidity and minerality we love.

"Knockout nose melds musky ginger, quinine, caraway seed and elderflower, lifted by a violet topnote. Dense, layered and ineffably complex, conveying a powerful impression of saline dry extract to its explosive flavors of ginger, flowers, crushed warm stones and noble herbs. Outstanding density and sucrosite here; generous rather than austere, even if the remarkably vibrant, rocky finish and outstanding length promise a long and graceful evolution in bottle. This east/southeast-facing amphitheater vineyard is protected against the hottest afternoon sun, notes Dauvissat. This wine is frequently among my favorites in a given vintage, and that's certainly the case in 2013."  Stephen Tanzer 95-97 points

"The 2013 Chablis Preuses stands out from the rest of this lineup for its extraordinary bouquet. I could stand in front of this barrel all day. Dried flowers, sage, slate, crushed rocks and lime race across the palate as this tense, pulsating Chablis captivates the senses with its extraordinary purity and finesse. Magnificent from the very first taste, the 2013 Preuses might also turn out to be one of the wines of the vintage. Sadly, yields are down 30%."  Antonio Galloni 94-96 points
