Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 375ml Product #29453 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 375ml Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 375ml

Half Bottle. Guillaume Michel crafts his “village” level Chablis from seven different Chablis vineyards located on both sides of the river.  The organically farmed vines are up to 50 years of age and produce clean, ripe, succulent fruit – even in difficult vintages like 2013.  From the classic green-tinged color and modest 12.5% alcohol, you might expect this to be sharp or green tasting, but even with no oak to hide any flaws, it’s a lovely marriage of generous, ripe green and yellow apple, tangerine, and lemon/lime fruit and Chablis classic cut and salty stone minerality.  An easy wine to enjoy all by itself or with a wide range of foods, but you certainly will love it with traditional Chablis matches like oysters and clams!

"Tangerine, spice and hazelnut overtones emerge from Louis Michel's 2013 Chablis. This textured, expressive, mid-weight Chablis is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years."  Antonio Galloni 87-88 points

"A more complex nose features notes of exotic dried yellow fruit, white flowers and a whiff of sea breeze. There is more volume and better punch to the delicious, clean and somewhat drier finish. This too will be approachable young."Allen Meadows 86-89 points

Dom Vincent Dampt Petit Chablis 2015 Product #30967 (In Stock)

The only thing "Petit" about this wine is the appellation - and the price!  A stunning Chablis, super rich in flavor but lean and pure in texture, exploding with fresh green citrus, stone fruit, and Granny Smith apple plus a huge dose of chalky, stony, minerality.  Simply fantastic drive and cut and intensity here with a dry finish that just won't quit.  No oak, loads of pleasure.  Hands down the best Petit Chablis we've ever tasted.

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2014 Product #30544 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2014 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2014

Just another fantastic wine from the Chablis traditionalists at Domaine Louis Michel. We love the marriage of ripe, wide-open, Chardonnay fruit with Chablis’ crisp acidity and lingering, refreshing, wet-stone minerality.  The rich texture makes this delicious to sip all on its own, but it will sing with shellfish, halibut, and creamy mushroom and chicken dishes, too.  Bravo!

"Good pale, bright yellow. Deeper on the nose than the Petit Chablis but also a bit shy and metallic, offering scents of lemon and acacia flower. Delivers more sweetness and stuffing, with fruit-driven flavors of lemon and orange carrying nicely on the aftertaste. This fresh, easygoing wine was made from fruit picked during the last two days of the harvest."  Vinous (Galloni) 87-88 points

"An interesting nose that features notes of petrol, citrus and menthol leads to wonderfully vibrant, detailed and intense flavors that possess good minerality on the lingering finale. This mildly fruity effort should be accessible young but be capable of rewarding a few years of bottle age as well."Allen Meadows 87-90 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014 Product #30673 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014

Grown on slightly deeper soil, Vaillons displays somewhat richer aromas and flavors of ripe stone fruits and almonds. This is fun to drink from first arrival, although it will just bet better over the next few years.

“A blend of very old vines and another parcel replanted in 1985.  Very shy nose hints at stone fruits. Round and mouthfilling, with ripe stone fruit flavors complicated by a saline edge. In a sunny style, as usual, but from vines picked early."  Vinous (Tanzer) 88-90 points

“This is riper still with notes of yellow orchard fruit, citrus blossom, ocean breeze and a hint of iodine. The attractively textured flavors possess both good energy and an appealing salinity before concluding in a finer but not nearly as long or complex finale.”Allen Meadows 89-91 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Forets 2013 Product #29450 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Forets 2013 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Forets 2013

"The 2013 Chablis Forêts is a little richer and more powerful than the Montmains owing to the slightly warmer microclimate. At the same time, the heavy presence of limestone in these soils yields a wine with bright, saline-infused minerality and considerable steely tension."  Antonio Galloni 90-92 points

"Here too there are notes of mineral reduction on the citrus, apple and algae suffused nose. The generous yet refined medium-bodied flavors possess good mid-palate concentration as well as a lovely bead of minerality that continues onto the clean, refreshing and saline finish. This isn't quite as refined as the Montmains but it compensates by displaying a bit more minerality and persistence."Allen Meadows 88-91 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Forets 2014 Product #30672 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Forets 2014 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Forets 2014

One of the more mineral and detailed of the Louis Michel Premier Crus, solid rock is only a few centimeters underneath the very shallow topsoil. Always exciting on release and for mid-term cellaring.

“Pale straw-yellow. Expressive nose offers scents of peach, acacia flower and vanilla. Round and pliant if still a bit youthfully unforthcoming, with a peach flavor nicely shaped by ripe acidity and firm mineral spine. Finishes dry, saline and linear, with good length.”  Vinous (Tanzer) 88-90 points

“A wonderfully pure nose offers up plenty of classic Chablis aromas in the form of iodine, oyster shell and mineral reduction along with floral and citrus scents. There is fine delineation to the delicious, intense and energetic medium weight flavors that culminate in an overtly stony and bone dry finish. This is textbook Forêts.”Allen Meadows 89-92 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montee Tonnerre 2014 Product #30674 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montee Tonnerre 2014 Dom Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Montee Tonnerre 2014

Back in 2010, critic Steve Tanzer explained why Montee de Tonnere is the wine to buy.  “If this vineyard does not quite reach the level of the region’s grand crus in depth and sheer palate presence, it often does in aromatic complexity and class. In a perfect classification system, it would be ranked between premier and grand cru. Why should you care? In a word: value. Because Chablis usually is significantly cheaper than white Burgundy from the Côte de Beaune in the first place, the best examples of Montée de Tonnerre can offer remarkable quality/price rapport. If Chablis is the insider’s white Burgundy, then Montée de Tonnerre is the insider’s Chablis premier cru.”

“Subtle, pure, scented nose combines stone fruits, crushed rock, spices and a touch of flinty minerality. Big and rich in the mouth but still a bit youthfully compact, conveying a dusty impression of extract from its strong underlying minerality. Finishes tactile and long.”  Vinous (Tanzer) 90-92 points

“This too is quite floral yet at the same time manages to be more elegant with its wafting nose of iodine, apple and oyster shell hints. There is terrific energy to the refined, detailed and saline-inflected medium-bodied flavors where an intense minerality adds lift to the clean and dry finish.”Allen Meadows 90-93 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2013 Product #29475 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2013 Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2013

From the largest and, arguably, best of Chablis Grand Cru vineyards, this is a majestic, if tightly-wound, wine.  Powerful and fresh at once.

“A mysterious wine, the 2013 Chablis Les Clos isn't ready to show all of its cards just yet. Chamomile, spices, sage and mint grace the palate in an exquisite, subtle Chablis long on class. Today the Clos is quite reticent and unexpressive, but I found that with many wines from this site in 2013, so that is not terribly surprising.”  Antonio Galloni 91-93 points

“Don’t Miss! A penetrating nose features pungent notes of mineral reduction, wet stone, rose petal and citrus peel. There is excellent volume and detail on the intense, and intensely stony, flavors that possess ample size, weight and muscle. This is less youthfully monolithic than it usually is, indeed this is really quite succulent and approachable though note that it should improve for up to a decade.”Allen Meadows 91-94 points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Sechet 2014 Product #30591 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Sechet 2014 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Sechet 2014

From 50+ year-old vines on hard white chalk-laced soils, Sechet delivers a fine blend of ripe fruit and classic Chablis stoniness.

“Bright yellow. Tight nose hints at crushed stone and menthol, plus a whiff of petrol. Tactile, intense and clean; shows strong minerality and acidity, and thenervosité that comes from calcaire, and yet it's not austere. A lovely ripe peach flavor emerged with air.”  Vinous (Tanzer) 90-92 points

“Despite the fact that this had only just finished its malo, the expressive nose displays plenty of citrus and Chablis-like elements that can also be found on the succulent yet vibrant middle weight flavors that are underpinned by racy acidity on the lingering and notably dry but not really austere finale.” Allen Meadows 89-91 points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014 Product #30592 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2014

Vaillons is always vivid, focused, and very mineral-driven, and the 2014 edition shines in that vein.  Over the past few vintages, Dauvissat’s Vaillons has shown a bit more flesh on the mid-palate, making it a fine choice to enjoy young and with age.

“Bright, pale yellow-green. Lemon, menthol and wet stone on the nose, lifted by a floral topnote. Juicy, intense and firm, delivering sharply chiseled lemon and mineral flavors. Strong acidity suggests early harvesting. Really vibrates and rises on the long, brisk aftertaste. A terrific Vaillons.”  Vinous (Tanzer) 91-93 points

“Notes of cool mineral reduction combine with restrained aromas of mostly white orchard fruit, iodine, pepper and hints of algae. The gorgeously textured middle weight flavors exhibit plenty of minerality on the tighter, more intense and chiseled finish that deliver excellent length. This beauty should drink well both young and old as there is very good mid-palate density.”Allen Meadows 90-93 points

Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2014 Product #30593 (In Stock)
Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2014 Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru La Forest 2014

Cooler soils than Vaillon and Sechet means Forest (or Forets – you’ll see it both ways) ripens a bit more slowly, but these 40 year-old vines (average age) deliver concentration and honeyed richness that’s uncommon at the 1er Cru level.  Always a personal favorite and at its best about 4-5 years from the vintage.

“Pale, bright yellow. Underripe pineapple, white grapefruit, mint and crushed stone on the nose. Offers a compelling combination of texture and energy on the palate, showing incisive grapefruit and crushed rock flavors and finishing with near-grand cru depth and persistence. A superb Forest.”  Vinous (Tanzer) 92-94 points

“This is more restrained still, indeed so much so that the nose only reluctantly reveals its notes of classic Chablis aromas that include green fruit, iodine, tidal pool and oyster shell. There is outstanding volume and almost painful intensity to the medium-bodied flavors that brim with a fine minerality before concluding in a stony, long and impeccably well-balanced finale where once again a hint of bitter lemon appears. This will need a few years of bottle age to fully harmonize and to become more accessible.” Allen Meadows 91-93 points

Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2013 Product #29473 (In Stock)
Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2013 Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2013

A powerful, fruit-filled, Grenouilles that’s almost too tempting right now.  Ripe and exotic, here you’ll find tropical fruit like mango, papaya, and even pineapple to go with the green apple and salty stone character more typical of Chablis.  And, it’s very, very, long.

“Rather exotic aromas of yellow peach, mango, menthol and spices. Rich, broad and tactile, but with nicely integrated acidity (actually the highest of these 2013s, along with Les Clos, at 4.0 gram per liter) leavening the wine's fat and sweetness. Nicely balanced wine from 50-year-old vines.”  Steve Tanzer 89-92 points

“Sweet Spot Outstanding. This isn't quite as ripe and the nose is a bit fresher if perhaps not quite as complex with its pretty aromas of mineral reduction, citrus and dried white flowers. Here too there is a good sense of underlying tension to the broad-shouldered and generously proportioned flavors that possess plenty of palate coating dry extract, all wrapped in a saline, long and intense finish that engenders that involuntary salivating reaction. This too should be accessible in its youth.”Allen Meadows 91-93 points
