- Dom Des Malandes Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2011 Half Bottle Product #28285 (In Stock)
HALF BOTTLE. From 40+ year-old vines in the heart of Fourchaume, proper, harvested the first 3 days of September, just before the rain that caused so many problems with rot for others. The fruit came in just under 12.5% alcohol with vibrant acidity that benefited from 12 months in neutral oak. As estate manager Lyne Marchive says of her 2011s overall, “It's classic in style but not unduly austere plus it should drink well early if someone prefers it." Don’t miss the chance to get some in half-bottles and magnum, too!
"A very slight chew to give texture, plus plenty of bright green apple fruit. Great intensity on the mid-palate – certainly has ageing potential." Jancis Robinson Purple Pages 17/20 points
"Sweet Spot Outstanding. A dense nose of ripe white orchard fruit, floral notes and a hint of tidal pool character precedes the very rich and suave flavors that possess good power and excellent depth and length. This is a relatively big yet refined Fourchaume that displays plenty of mid-palate dry extract."Allen Meadows 90-93 points
- Dom Louis Michel Chablis 2013 Product #29174 (In Stock)
Guillaume Michel crafts his “village” level Chablis from seven different Chablis vineyards located on both sides of the river. The organically farmed vines are up to 50 years of age and produce clean, ripe, succulent fruit – even in difficult vintages like 2013. From the classic green-tinged color and modest 12.5% alcohol, you might expect this to be sharp or green tasting, but even with no oak to hide any flaws, it’s a lovely marriage of generous, ripe green and yellow apple, tangerine, and lemon/lime fruit and Chablis classic cut and salty stone minerality. An easy wine to enjoy all by itself or with a wide range of foods, but you certainly will love it with traditional Chablis matches like oysters and clams!
"Tangerine, spice and hazelnut overtones emerge from Louis Michel's 2013 Chablis. This textured, expressive, mid-weight Chablis is an excellent choice for drinking over the next few years." Antonio Galloni 87-88 points
"A more complex nose features notes of exotic dried yellow fruit, white flowers and a whiff of sea breeze. There is more volume and better punch to the delicious, clean and somewhat drier finish. This too will be approachable young."Allen Meadows 86-89 points
- Dom Des Malandes Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2012 Product #28424 (In Stock)
Not just Grand Cru, but the very best Grand Cru in all of Chablis, the famous sun-washed, chalk-laced, hill of Les Clos. Fruit this ripe, powerful, and perfect deserves extra attention, so this is the only wine at the Domaine to receive new oak (about 15%). Very Grand Cru on the nose where deep aromas of green apple, lemon oil, apple and peach blossom, and wet chalk swirl in the glass. In the mouth, powerful and deep with riper fruit – golden apple, pineapple, yellow peach – plus a good dose of lime and lime zest. Dense in the middle and long on the ripe but salty/savory finish where fruit and stone flavors linger. Give it an hour of air now or cellar for 5 years and then enjoy for 10 more. Brilliant – and less expensive than any good 1er Cru Puligny!
"Really tropical fruit, and a bit of oak here – distinguished and distinctive. Very immediate and open – a real crowd pleaser without sacrificing authenticity and typicality." JancisRobinson.com 17.5/20 points
"From a .53 ha parcel planted in 1962 and matured in mostly older oak. This is a bit more elegant compared to the Vaudésir with its ripe, pure and pretty aromas of lavender, apple, wet stone and white orchard fruit scents. There is fine density to the powerful and muscular broad-scaled flavors that manage to retain a fine sense of detail on the palate staining and wonderfully persistent finish. This is presently quite backward it will need a few years to find its center." Allen Meadows 91-93 points
"Medium yellow straw in color, this barrel fermented (95% used, 5% new) Grand Cru reveals refined aromatics with elements of citrus zest, stony minerals, and a light touch of honeyed oak. It's densely flavored with layers of rich fruit and hints of light sandalwood, finishing long with rich extract. This is a complex and elegant wine that will drink well over the next decade."i-Wine Review 94 points
- Dom Louis Michel Chablis Grand Cru Grenouilles 2010 Product #26235 (In Stock)
"This is perhaps ever-so-slightly riper still than the Vaudésir, yet the expressive nose remains cool and fresh with aromas of white flowers, tidal pool and citrus nuances that merge gracefully into full-bodied and overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that also possess plenty of acid-buffering dry extract on the tight, intense and highly enduring finish. Excellent cellar potential."Allen Meadows 92-94 points
"The 2010 Chablis Grenouilles, on the other hand, is much more closed down. Today it is the wine’s crystalline minerality that comes through most clearly. Hints of jasmine, green pears and apples develop in the glass, but this is a wine that needs time before its full personality begins to emerge. It is above all else a wine of finesse and, at times, an almost feminine vulnerability. Anticipated maturity: 2014."Wine Advocate 94+ points
