Dom Daniel Pollier Saint Veran En Messie 2014 Product #30200 (In Stock)
Dom Daniel Pollier Saint Veran En Messie 2014 Dom Daniel Pollier Saint Veran En Messie 2014

As The Washington Post said in their three-star review of the 2012 vintage, "This wine demonstrates why we should not snub “oaky” chardonnays. Yes, oak is evident in the toastiness and richness of texture, but it is beautifully balanced with fruit and mineral flavors, making this as good a chardonnay as I’ve had under $20."  In the fine 2014 vintage, there's a lovely creaminess to the texture and generous doses of orchard fruits - pear, apple, peach - with a just-right touch of oak.  An excellent white Burgundy value to delight any Chardonnay fan!

Dom Chene Macon Villages 2014 Product #29733 (In Stock)
Dom Chene Macon Villages 2014 Dom Chene Macon Villages 2014

The Chêne family has been growing grapes and making wine in Macon for five generations, but traditionally sold all of their crop to the local co-op.  In 1999, Cedric Chêne decided that his vineyards and hard work deserved better and began bottling and selling his own wine as Domaine Chêne Pere et Fils - and we're glad he did!

This 100% Chardonnay from sites just north of the town of Macon serves up pretty aromas of lemon custard, fresh orchard fruit, and a touch of toasted hazelnut.  Rich and creamy in texture, the gentle pear fruit is lifted by a squirt of lemony acidity and gets added complexity from notes of fresh mint and hazelnut.  Finished bright and clean with mint and lemon curd flavors lingering nicely.

Dom Dubois Bourgogne Aligote 2014 Product #30051 (In Stock)
Dom Dubois Bourgogne Aligote 2014 Dom Dubois Bourgogne Aligote 2014

Textbook Aligote, Burgundy's other white grape. Like all Aligote, it's a bit shy on the nose with notions of apple and toasted nut peaking out.  On the palate, pure and fresh and savory with Granny Smith apple, green pear, toasted hazelnut, and a leesy richness that carries through the mouthwatering, saline, finish.  Balanced and round enough to sip solo and a great companion to seafood and poultry.

Dom Dureuil - Janthial Bourgogne Aligote 2013 Dom Dureuil - Janthial Bourgogne Aligote 2013

More "Bourgogne" than "Aligote," this is a stunning white Burgundy value.  A touch of wood frames spicy citrus, apple, and fresh butter aromas.  Rich and deep on the palate where a hint of fresh herb adds complexity to the rich citrus and orchard fruit flavors with accents of buttered nut and crushed chalk.  Really coats your mouth but stays fresh and pure and shows impressive length on the palate and finish.

Dom Feuillat-Juillot Montagny Les Crets 2014 Product #30082 (In Stock)
Dom Feuillat-Juillot Montagny Les Crets 2014 Dom Feuillat-Juillot Montagny Les Crets 2014

This beautiful Chardonnay comes from 25 year-old vines growing on limestone and clay soils in a 1 hectare slice of the respected Le Crets vineyard.  Hand harvested grape bunches are destemmed and fermented and aged in tank and cask with 8 months spent on the fine lees to gain richness and depth.

Brilliantly clear and a light yellow-gold color (a hallmark of fine Montagny), the wine serves up beautiful aromas of chalky mineral, lime skin, toasted hazelnut, green tea, and garden flowers.  On the palate, it's precise, transparent, and perfectly balanced with flavors of green apple, tangy peach, toasted nut and just a hint of fresh, creamy, butter.  A touch of honey emerges with air as the peach/apple fruit gains strength, with brisk, lemony, acidity and chalky mineral showing on the crisp, generous, floral-scented, finish.  Wonderfully sophisticated and pure already, this will sing with shellfish or raw tuna now and gain more richness over the next 2-4 years.

Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne Blanc 2013 Product #30357 (In Stock)
Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne Blanc 2013 Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne Blanc 2013

If you met Thibault when he visited the store last April, you learned that this very intense maker of very serious Burgundy has a fun side, too.  And that’s what he lets shine forth in his sole white wine, just the 3rd vintage of this blend of fruit from two top southern Burgundy regions:  Macon Loche, near Pouilly Fuisse, and Montagny in the Cote Chalonnaise.  Just like Thibault’s more serious red wines, it’s made with abundant care and respect for naturally grown fruit and terroir.  Here that means fermenting the wine cool (to maintain fruit) and aging it entirely in stainless steel so that fruit keeps on singing through.

You’ll love the generous, tempting, aromas of nectarine, Yellow Delicious, pineapple, fresh flowers, butter, hazelnut and spice.  In your mouth, the texture is superb; big and rich and mouthfilling with no hard edges and just enough acidity and dusty mineral to hold the wine in shape.  The flavors are big and generous, too, with notes of green pineapple, stone fruit, ripe apples, butter, hazelnut and more.  Finishes with a nice burst of stone and mineral and lingering ripe orchard fruit that pulls you back for another sip.  Wine Advocate gave the 2012 90 points and called it “an outstanding value at $23.00.”  The 2013 is better, and better value, too.  Snap it up!

Dom Deliance Givry 1er Cru Les Combes 2013 Product #30458 (In Stock)
Dom Deliance Givry 1er Cru Les Combes 2013 Dom Deliance Givry 1er Cru Les Combes 2013

From an estate established in 1935 that made first red and white still wines, then sparkling Cremant, and now - with the new generation - is moving back to still wine production.  And very good still wine it is!  This is a delicious, ready young, bistro-style red Burgundy with plenty of pretty Pinot Noir fruit - cherry, red berry - plus just a touch of earth and spice for complexity.  Easy to drink, but with true Burgundy minerality and cut.  Excellent value.

Dom Feuillat-Juillot Montagny 1er Cru Les Coeres 2014 Product #30083 (In Stock)
Dom Feuillat-Juillot Montagny 1er Cru Les Coeres 2014 Dom Feuillat-Juillot Montagny 1er Cru Les Coeres 2014

Les Coeres’s pedigree as the best vineyard in Montagny is on display here in a wine that beautifully marries power and finesse, showy ripeness and finesse.  From vines planted 23 to 74 years ago, this is fermented and aged in French oak (just 10% new) and allowed to rest on the lees for 8-10 months.

A darker, more brassy-gold, color than Le Crets, but just as brilliantly clear.  The nose is generous and distinctive, with classic 1er Cru white Burgundy scents of lemon curd, Granny Smith apple, toast, vanilla, grilled hazelnut and tangy butter.  On the palate, rich with fine volume with no excess weight, the flavors of ripe lemon, green apple, hazelnut, butter, mint and more show impressive clarity and drive.  A fine dose of minerality and juicy acids propel the long finish of tangy fruit, buttered nut, and dusty chalk.  Lobster, shrimp, roast chicken and mushrooms will all work here in a wine delicious right now and built to improve for 4-6 years.

Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St George La Charmotte 2012 Product #29164 (In Stock)
Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St George La Charmotte 2012 Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St George La Charmotte 2012

An elegant, impressive, Burgundy, that's showing nicely with air now and will develop in cellar for years.

"Rose petals, mint, pine and rosemary meld into sweet red fruits in the 2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges La Charmotte, a wine that stands out for its energy and tension. There is a crystalline purity to the fruit that is impossible to miss. The Charmotte is shaping up to be a beauty."  Antonio Galloni 90-92 points

"Redcurrant and floral aromas show an almost liqueur-like ripeness. Dense, fat and sweet, offering terrific intensity and inner-mouth tension to its flavors of dried berries and rose petal. The finish builds impressively for village wine. Liger-Belair told me the crop level here was just ten (!) hectoliters per hectare."International Wine Cellar 91 points
