Dom De l'Eveche Bourgogne Blanc 2011 Product #29283 (In Stock)
Dom De l'Eveche Bourgogne Blanc 2011 Dom De l'Eveche Bourgogne Blanc 2011

This is white Burgundy in its most pure and unassuming form - and at a very unassuming price, too!  The Joussier family has only owned Domaine de l'Eveche for 30 years, but they've already established themselves as one of the most talented, quality-oriented, estates in the Cote Chalonnaise.  Their Bourgogne Blanc is 100% Chardonnay from  limestone rich vineyards and vines 15-30 years old.  The ripe, carefully selected, fruit ferments and ages entirely in tank to preserve the fresh fruit flavors and avoid masking these fine sites' classic minerality.

You'll find aromas and flavors of fresh peaches, nectarine, green pear and apple at the wine's core with accents of citrus and fruit blossom.  With air, pretty notes  of warm spice and hazelnut peak out and snappy acids help drive mineral, pear, nut, and citrus flavors through the long finish.  The balance here is perfect and the structure pristine, so you can drink this on the warmer side to really let the flavors shine with no loss of refreshment or vigor.  Delicious, but limited.

Dom Michel Sarrazin Cremant De Bourgogne NV Product #29289 (In Stock)
Dom Michel Sarrazin Cremant De Bourgogne NV Dom Michel Sarrazin Cremant De Bourgogne NV

The Sarrazin brothers craft their Cremant from 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay harvested early (to preserve fizz-friendly acidity) from 30 year-old vines just outside the village of Givry.  They blend the tank-fermented base wines and then perform secondary fermentation and aging on the lees in bottle (just like in Champagne).  Once the wine has picked up the distinctive notes of toast, bread dough, and grilled nut only Methode Champignois can deliver, the bottles are riddled, disgorged, and topped up with a very modest 6 grams/liter dosage – enough to round out the acids but still leave the wine crisp and dry on the finish.

The folks at locally-based International Wine Review said of the previous release, “it is richly flavored and a very attractive alternative to non-vintage Champagne.”  The aromas are luxurious: rich scents of toasted nut, brioche and bread dough over golden apple fruit.  The texture is creamy and luxurious, too, with generous flavors of peach, pear, apple, toasted hazelnut and tangy butter.  A red cherry streak peaks out on the back and continues on through the buttered nut and white fruit flavors of the long, fresh, finish.   Better than most $40 Champagnes and fine value at the $25 regular price.

Dom Cordier Vire Clesse Vielles Vignes 2012 Product #29347 (In Stock)
Dom Cordier Vire Clesse Vielles Vignes 2012 Dom Cordier Vire Clesse Vielles Vignes 2012

The Vire Clesse appellation was created in 1999 in recognition that this limestone-rich stretch of vineyards was of higher quality than most Macon sites, if not quite up to the level of Pouilly Fuisse.  By law, all Vire Clesse wines must be bone dry, giving the best examples (like this one) an almost Chablis-like cut and vibrancy.

This beauty opens with a wonderful saline nose of crushed rock, crisp apple, stone fruit and fresh mint.  The palate is sophisticated, luscious, and quite complex, with layered flavors of apple, apricot, and pineapple fruit framed by more mineral and a touch of lees.  Finishes pure, clean, and long with salty caramel, fresh fruit, and white flower notes and a mouthwatering burst of fresh pineapple with a touch of chalk left behind.  Utterly delicious and compelling now and for the next 2-3 years.

“The 2012 Viré Clessé Vieilles Vignes has a well-defined, precise bouquet with fragrant white peach and persimmon notes that remain focused and taut. The palate is well-defined and crisp with brisk acidity and very fine tension to the slightly austere finish that deserves a few months in bottle. This is well-crafted and might well repay just a few months in bottle if you choose to do so. Drink 2014-2019.”Wine Advocate 89 points

Langlois Pere Et Fils Cassis Nv Product #28099 (In Stock)
Langlois Pere Et Fils Cassis Nv Langlois Pere Et Fils Cassis Nv

The first thing you'll notice about this delicious creme de cassis is its almost neon color, a gorgeous, glass-staining magenta.  Made from super-ripe cassis berries grown on the Langlois estate, this is sweet, rich and lucious, to be sure, but also has an intriguing undercurrent of something leafy and herbal that keeps it from becoming cloying.  If you've never had a real creme de cassis, try adding a few drops to sparkling wine for a Kir Royale you won't forget!

Langlois Pere Et Fils Mure Nv Product #28100 (In Stock)
Langlois Pere Et Fils Mure Nv Langlois Pere Et Fils Mure Nv

Wild blackberries harvested from around the city of Nevers in Burgundy make this unctuous liqueur, traditionally drunk with Bourgogne Rouge for a sort of brunette sister to the Kir called a Berrichon.  After the berries are harvested, they are frozen to break down their cell walls, making for more concentrated flavors.  Combining the sweetness of ripe fruit with more earthy, musky aromas than the more common creme de cassis from the same region, this is unusual and delicious.

Dom Michel Sarrazin Mercurey La Perriere 2012 Product #28815 (In Stock)
Dom Michel Sarrazin Mercurey La Perriere 2012 Dom Michel Sarrazin Mercurey La Perriere 2012

A winner of a red Burgundy that delivers the perfect blend of luscious Pinot Noir fruit, toasty oak, and authentic Burgundy earthy minerality.  The Sarrazin brothers grow this in the fine La Perrriere vineyard, just next to the 1er Cru Le Clos L'Eveque, prick it ripe, and give it a luxurious stay in 75% new French oak.  In 2012, it's wonderfully rich and concentrated, but never rough or rugged and has absorbed the wood beautifully. Aromas and flavors of sweet red cherry, red plum, and raspberry with accents of crushed violet and smoke. The fruit is nicely sweet and fresh - more than enough for any Willamette Valley Pinot drinker - but with a touch of Burgundy's own iron ore and warm stone minerality.  You'll love how the fruit gets more sweet and fresh with air without losing the focus of the firm finish. A classy but easy-to-drink Burgundy that shines at table or for a crowd.

"The 2012 Mercurey La Perriere Village displays perfumed red cherry and plum aromas. On the palate it has excellent depth of flavor and layered flavors with a firm tannic finish. This wine should provide drinking pleasure until 2019 or longer."  i-Wine Review 90+ points

Dom Cordier Pouilly Fuisse Vielles Vignes 2010 Product #29346 (In Stock)
Dom Cordier Pouilly Fuisse Vielles Vignes 2010 Dom Cordier Pouilly Fuisse Vielles Vignes 2010

A fine Pouilly Fuisse should be rich, generous, and just a touch exotic - and this fantastic 2010 from old vines delivers all of that and more.  The aromas are just classic:  ripe pineapple, fresh peach, creamy butter, and sweet mint all burst from the glass.  The palate is rich and buttery with generous flavors of apricot, passion fruit, citrus, grilled pineapple and creme fresh.  The flavors completely coat your palate but avoid heaviness as tangy pineapple, passion fruit, lemon zest, mint and crushed stone flavors linger over the geneours, mouthwatering, finish.  Still a baby with at least 5-6 years of cellar development in front of it, but hard to resist for the rich fruit right now.

“Sweet Spot Outstanding. The big, rich and powerful medium-bodied flavors exude a palate staining dry extract that pushes the otherwise firm acid spine to the background but not so much that the complex and impressively long finish loses its focus. This should be terrific and offer an extended cellaring potential if desired yet the abundance of sap will allow this to be enjoyed young.”Allen Meadows 90-93 points

“Full-bodied with sunny warmth, this golden wine has a pale earthiness touched by some exotic notes of kumquat and mango. Seashell minerality integrates the alcohol into the fruit. The flavors last, ready to serve with roast sea bass.”Wine & Spirits 90 points

“A broad, powerful white, evoking fennel, grapefruit, pineapple and apricot flavors tinged by oak spice. Well-structured and long, with a mineral aftertaste. Drink now through 2018.”Wine Spectator 91 points
