You've probably never heard of Bouzeron or tried many Aligote - certainly not many like this one! This seldom seen Cote Chalonnaise village a few minutes southwest of Santenay is dedicated to 100% Aligote - Burgundy's "other white grape." Here ripe fruit and barrel fermentation give a creamy, rich, wine that hints at Meursault texture. Lime, fresh butter, and chalky mineral flavors in the middle and then a long, lingering, fresh butter and nut finish make this a versatile wine that will sing with seafood or mushroom dishes.

The village of Fixin lies just north of Gevery-Chambertin, but the soils are heavier here and the reputation is for solid wines of good value. In a top vintage – like 2009 – you’ll sometimes find something a little more special, and that’s what we have here. Pretty, almost delicate, aromas of red fruit and spice lead to a fresh, light, palate of tangy ripe raspberry and red cherry fruit, baking spice, and a floral note. Silky and fresh from front to back, this is a fine Burgundy for roast chicken or lighter fare. Fine class for the money.
