Bishops Peak Chardonnay Central Coast 2013 Product #28265 (In Stock)
Bishops Peak Chardonnay Central Coast 2013 Bishops Peak Chardonnay Central Coast 2013

As always, the folks at Talley do a fine job with their "no oak" Bishop's Peak program. More aromatic than many inexpensive Chardonnays, this features aromas of ripe golden apples and pears.  On the palate, no oak and no malolactic fermentation keep it fresh and crisp, with flavors of more tart green apples and a little citrus zest.  A great everyday Chardonnay for light poultry dishes or sipping before a meal.

Jackhammer Pinot Noir Central Coast 2012 Product #29212 (In Stock)
Jackhammer Pinot Noir Central Coast 2012 Jackhammer Pinot Noir Central Coast 2012

Yes, the label and name lack a little Burgundian class.  But this is seriously delicious Central Coast Pinot Noir that tastes just like – wait for it – California Pinot Noir!  The talent and experience of the team that formed this value Pinot producer help, but the real secret here is probably California’s outstanding 2012 harvest.  So, here we have perfectly ripe fruit at a very Pinot-like 13.5% abv, all aged in neutral French oak.  Big, rich, aromas of macerated Bing cherries, spice, and a touch of Central Coast cola.  Round and supple in the mouth with more ripe cherry and strawberry fruit complicated by notes of damp earth, smoke, and cola.  The texture is silky smooth, but there’s enough structure here to work with grilled salmon, seared mushrooms, or even lean beef.  A fine Pinot value.

Mount Eden Chardonnay Wolff 2011 Product #29060 (In Stock)
Mount Eden Chardonnay Wolff 2011 Mount Eden Chardonnay Wolff 2011

From a unique, cool, vineyard in the Edna Valley, this is a fantastically classy and stylish Chardonnay at a very compelling price.

"Lively citrus and orchard fruit scents are complicated by notes of sweet butter and honey. Fleshy and smooth in texture, offering spicy pear, orange and fig flavors and a touch of bitter quinine. Nicely concentrated but lively and dry as well, finishing long and tangy, with nervy cut and a hint of anise. As usual, this is a great introduction to Mount Eden's powerful but energetic style of chardonnay at a price almost any wine lover can justify."International Wine Cellar 90 points

Tuck Beckstoffer Grenache California Melee 2012 Tuck Beckstoffer Grenache California Melee 2012

Tuck Beckstoffer's Melee Grenache is a big mouthful of red berry fruit, fresh earth, warm stones, and even a little "garrigue" - with all the ripeness you'd expect from California but also with more restraint and class.  The crisp finish features notes of anise and current fruit lingering over a pretty mineral streak and mouthwatering acids. Try it with Middle Eastern food or even curry!

Foxen Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vnyd 2011 Foxen Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vnyd 2011

From Bill Wathen and Dick Dore's 7200 project that focuses on Bordeaux varietals, this medium-bodied Cabernet is fragrant and complex.  It opens with exotic aromas of resinous herbs and blackberry jam.  On the palate, the tannins are ripe but firm, and it's got plenty of juicy acidity, making it a great partner to a wider variety of foods than most California Cabernets.

America's favorite "power Pinot" is more intense and rich than ever in the fine 2013 harvest. From the Wagner family of Caymus fame.

"Presents a distinctive mix of raspberry and huckleberry flavors that border on jammy, shaded by smoky, toasty oak. Turns graceful and elegant, with supple, refined tannins and lingering flavors of herb and black olive. Drink now through 2023."Wine Spectator 90 points

Bonny Doon Le Cigare Volant 2010 Product #29243 (In Stock)
Bonny Doon Le Cigare Volant 2010 Bonny Doon Le Cigare Volant 2010

Back in 1983, Randall was searching for a name to use with his first release of a homage to Chateauneuf du Pape from Central Coast.  Drawing inspiration from a Chateauneuf du Pape municipal ordinance forbidding flying saucers from landing in the local vineyards, he hit upon “Le Cigare Volant,” the French term for UFOs.  If you look at the label closely, you’ll notice the cigar-shaped spacecraft beaming up Chateauneuf grapes – and, certainly, a big mouthful of those flavors have landed here!

"Distinct crushed lava rock aromas meet with dust, cinnamon, cola and Dr Pepper on this blend of 28% Syrah, 22% Grenache, 17% Cinsault, 17% Mourvèdre and 16% Carignane. Light red fruits of cranberry and slight strawberry show on the palate that dives into serious tannins quickly."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Jonata Todos Vineyard Blend Santa Ynez 2009 Product #27581 (In Stock)
Jonata Todos Vineyard Blend Santa Ynez 2009 Jonata Todos Vineyard Blend Santa Ynez 2009

A super-interesting, very composed, wine from this very quickly up-and-coming estate.

"Readers who want to explore the Jonata wines without investing in the top bottlings will want to check out the 2009 Todos, which is strikingly beautiful. It shows marvelous intensity, great depth and tons of intensity from start to finish. Layers of dark red and black fruit and flowers flow effortlessly from this flashy, totally dazzling wine. Today, the 2009 boasts huge fruit and an equally compelling personality. Although priced well below some of the other wines in this lineup, it is not clear to me the Todos is far off the mark of those wines at all. Todos is a bit of a kitchen sink blend composed of 63% Syrah, 12% Sangiovese, 11% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and dollops of Grenache, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."Wine Advocate 93 points
