- Champteloup Rose d'Anjou 2012 Product #27061 (In Stock)
-
-
While we in the USA tend to focus on rosé from the South of France, in Paris pink wine from Anjou in the nearby Loire Valley gets plenty of attention. And, this is classic Parisian bistro rosé, made from from 70% Grolleau for fruit and 30% Cabernet Franc for herbal notes and spice. Gentle aromas of cherry, strawberry, and crushed fresh herb lead to a juicy, fruity, mouthful of red berry fruit and a bit more herb. A hint of watermelon candy comes up in the middle and the finish is frankly fruity and round, but dry and clean. Cherry and watermelon Jolly Rancher notes linger on. A fun wine to just sip on it's own and a great match for Asian dishes or anything with fruit.
- Henri Bourgeois Sauvignon Petit Bourgeois 2011 Product #26227 (In Stock)
-
-
Basically a “baby Sancerre”, this exciting young Sauvignon Blanc is grown on the same chalky slate soils you’ll find across Sancerre from 10-40 year-old vines, fermented in stainless steel and allowed to rest 3 months on the fine lees. The vineyard is located just outside the legal boundary of Sancerre, but the flavors make you feel right in the middle!
Generous, fresh, aromas of fresh flowers, just cut grass, white grapefruit, and a hint of wet stones burst from the glass. Then in your mouth this crisp, lithe, wine fairly vibrates with more citrus and green apple fruit, tangy gooseberry, and fresh grass. The acidity is refreshing, if a touch softer than last year, and the fruit flavors are juicy and bright. Served cold, it’s thirst quenching and refreshing. Let it warm up a touch and it’s layered, complex, and a fantastic match for seafood, fresh vegetables, and – of course – goat cheese. - Ch De Chasseloir Muscadet Chereau Carre 2011 Product #26736 (In Stock)
-
-
One of Muscadet's oldest and best estates turned out a classic wine in the fine 2011 Loire vintage. Aromas of sea shell, lime skin, and a hint of bready lees carry through on the bright, energetic, palate. A fine mouthwatering Muscadet that has enough buffering richness (from time on the lees) to enjoy on it's own as well as with the classic pairing of raw oysters.
- Manoir De La Tete Rouge Bagatelle Saumur 2011 Product #27140 (In Stock)
-
-
Manoir de la Tete is run by Guillaume Reynouard and is entirely biodynamic. Vineyard work is impeccable and work in the winery is kept as simple and clean as possible. Fermented in cement tank and then aged in stainless steel, pretty much everything you'll get from this bottle came straight from the vineyard.
Like a church bell on a winter morning, this is clear and true. Plenty of pure, ripe, fresh raspberry fruit and just a touch of fresh herb that never veers off into bell pepper territory. There's enough earthiness for any Loire Cab Franc fan, but the purity and ripeness of the juicy fruit makes this easy for anyone to love. It's easy, but definitely not simple.
- Dom De Villargeau Coteaux Du Giennois 2011 Product #26073 (In Stock)
-
-
If you're a fan of Pouilly-Fume, you'll delight in the classic aromas of pithy lemon, white grapefruit, and fresh herbs here. On the palate it's crisp and refreshing, with a streak of sophisticated minerality on the finish. This delightful Sauvignon Blanc comes from one of the many lesser-known pockets of the Loire Valley that make wonderful wines, but are overshadowed by more famous neighbors. We hope that the Coteaux du Giennois stays under the radar so that we can keep buying it at this great price!
- Dom Du Salvard Cheverny 2012 Product #27183 (In Stock)
-
-
From a little-known appellation in the Loire that allows a small amount of Chardonnay blended into its Sauvignon Blanc comes this zippy little white from Kermit Lynch. In 2012, a tad more richness on the palate, but the nose is all Sauvignon Blanc - fresh, citrusy and herbaceous. The fruit lingers nicely on the mouthwatering finish where a slate stone note adds complexity.
- Henry Pelle Menetou-Salon Blanc 2011 Product #26105 (In Stock)
-
-
From Loire vineyards not far from Sancerre and thought by some to potentially rival Sancerre's quality. This Sauvignon Blanc offers up beautiful aromas and flavors of perfectly ripe white grapefruit accented by notes of citrus zest and slaty mineral. The texture is rich and soft but there's fantastic purity and focus here with fine precision to the flavors. Delicious.
- Henri Bourgeois Pouilly-Fume La Porte De l'Abbaye 2011 Product #26959 (In Stock)
-
-
A fine follow-up to the 91 point 2010, this 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Pouilly-Fume delivers big aromas of white peach, straw, and white grapefruit. Bright, loaded with flinty mineral and smoke, and very long, it delivers more citrus, peach, and fresh almond flavors and a long, smoky/flinty, finish. A textbook Pouilly-Fume for fish and cheeses.
- Dom Taille Aux Loups Vouvray Caburoches Sec 2011 Product #26652 (In Stock)
-
-
Winemaker Jacky Blot breaks from Vouvray tradition by raising his Chenin Blanc in oak barrels, but other than a touch of extra richness, you won't find any oak notes here. The 2010 edition of this lovely, ripe, and zesty white earned a 92 point rating from Wine Spectator, and this should be in that ballpark as well. Complex, waxy, aromas and flavors of ginger, orange blossom, acacia flower and fresh fig coat your mouth and linger nicely. A great wine for cheese and crackers, fresh river fish, or just sipping.
- Dom Regis Cruchet Vouvray Sec 2011 Product #26791 (In Stock)
-
-
A fantastic bottle of Chenin Blanc that teeters brilliantly on the border between "sec" and "demi-sec". Complex and captivating aromas of waxy asian pear and herb honey open things up. Then, juicy on the entry and explosive flavors of pear, apple, flowers, and a touch of spice that gain richness from a hint of sweetness before the acids break through and deliver a dry, crisp, finish. Very complex with deep flavors and excellent acids.
- Marc Deschamps Pouilly Fume Vignes De Berge 2009 Product #26656 (In Stock)
-
-
Take Pouilly Fume's cut and mineral drive and give it just a touch more flesh from the warm 2009 vintage, and you get delicious Sauvignon Blanc for fans of everything of Sancerre to New Zealand. The aromas show off ripe citrus and a touch of stone fruit that are echoed on the round, ripe, palate where a touch of fresh almond weaves in and out. The classic gunflint minerality comes up on the long, really delicious, finish. Great with chevre, salads, seafood, or even richer poultry dishes.
- Dom De La Bergerie Quarts Du Chaume 1999 (500ml) Product #26739 (In Stock)
-
-
A stunning, fully mature, example of Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley’s top site for sweet wines - Quartes de Chaume. The rich, decadent, aromas show off notes of honey, chamomile, black tea, and quince. In the mouth, rich, opulent, but still vibrant with more honey and quince, a dash of dried herb, and a hint of peach with botrytis accents. Long, luscious and lovely.
