Justin Cabernet Paso Robles 2010 375ml Justin Cabernet Paso Robles 2010 375ml

From the winery: Beautifully balanced, with attractive aromas of black fruit and spice. On the nose it presents an attractive mix of red and black fruit of currants, cherry and blackberry layered with spicy notes of anise, vanilla and with a subtle cedar character from an American oak influence. Complex with bright fruit of blackcurrant, cherry, and boysenberry mixed with licorice and subtle cedar notes on a long finish.

Varner Zinfandel Foxglove 2012 Product #28076 (In Stock)
Varner Zinfandel Foxglove 2012 Varner Zinfandel Foxglove 2012

Made from all Paso Robles Fruit, the 2012 Varner Foxglove Zin is unusually classy, smooth, and mellow for this AVA.  Big aromas of briary fruit and spice lead to rich flavors of raspberry, red plum, dried flowers, and cracked black pepper.  It's juicy enough to stay fresh through a second (or third!) glass but big and structured enough to handle hearty food. A very fine value.

Vina Robles Red4 2010 Product #27534 (In Stock)
Vina Robles Red4 2010 Vina Robles Red4 2010

It’s not entirely clear how a couple of guys of Swiss heritage created one of Paso Robles’ most exciting young wine estates.  Swiss native Hans Nef spent a couple of years looking for vineyard in California before deciding to buy an scrubby property dotted with oak trees in the Central Coast’s Paso Robles region in 1996.  Fellow Swiss native Matthias Gubler joined in 1999 and made Vina Robles’s first vintage that year.

Nef and Gubler motto – “European Inspiration – California Character” describes their entry-level Red4 blend perfectly.  As in France’s Rhone Valley, the wine is a blend of distinctive grapes – Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache and Mourvedre – that complement one another beautifully.

"There’s a robust heartiness to this Rhône-style blend that makes it perfect for drinking on cold nights with spicy barbecue or stew. Mainly Syrah and Petite Sirah, it’s rich in blackberry, bacon and black pepper flavors. Bone dry and moderate in alcohol, it represents great quality for the price."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Tablas Creek Vineyard Mourvedre 2010 Product #27292 (In Stock)
Tablas Creek Vineyard Mourvedre 2010 Tablas Creek Vineyard Mourvedre 2010

A beautiful wine to pair with olives or fennel.

"A fragrant bouquet evokes dark berry preserves, violet and licorice complemented by smoke and allspice notes. Sappy, smooth and expansive, offering intense blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors underscored by a zesty mineral nuance. Chewy but fine-grained tannins give shape to the clinging finish, which leaves cherry pit and spice notes behind."International Wine Cellar 91 points

"I find stunning beauty and purity in Tablas Creek’s 2010 Mourvedre. Rich yet weightless, it offers up plum, camphor, tobacco, spices and mint, all to match an impossibly refined, gracious personality. The 2010 is rich yet not at all heavy. It is a wine of incomparable textural finesse. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022."Wine Advocate 92 points

Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Beaucastel 2009 Product #25145 (In Stock)
Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Beaucastel 2009 Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit De Beaucastel 2009

"I am thrilled to see the 2009 Esprit de Beaucastel burst from the glass with an exciting melange of dark red cherries, flowers, sweet herbs, mint and spices. Exotic spiced notes linger on the finish. The 2009 boasts serious intensity, richness and depth, but it remains quite tannic and in need of further bottle age. The vintage saw both frost and drought, two conditions that are a little unusual in the same year. Now that it is in bottle, the 2009 meets all of the expectations I had when I tasted it from barrel last year. The blend is 40% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 27% Grenache and 5% Counoise."Wine Advocate 94 points
