Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla 500ml Product #14281 (In Stock)
Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla 500ml Hidalgo La Gitana Manzanilla 500ml

A simply terrific bottle of classic Manzanilla Sherry - slightly lighter than Fino and with a bracing tang of the sea. Drink it cool with olives and nuts or crab soup. Jancis Robinson captured it nicely.

"Greenish pale. Very lively and bone dry. Good stuff! This is the sort of wine you could imagine devoting an entire holiday to." Jancis Robinson 16/20

La Guita En Rama Manzanilla NV 375ml Product #31266 (In Stock)

"En Rama" means "raw" and for Sherry that means unfiltered. Manzanilla Sherry is always lighter and more sea shell-like than Fino and bone dry.

"The one thing I thought I'd never see was a bottle of NV Manzanilla La Guita en Rama, an 'en rama' bottling from October 2015. The wine is exclusively from Sanlúcar, mainly from the Pago de Miraflores vineyard. If the regular bottling has seen a prodigious improvement since it was purchased from the Estévez family, the unfiltered version is simply phenomenal. I encountered a first bottle in the north of Spain and I was gobsmacked. The character of brine, green olives and mustard seeds is all there in an amplified way. The palate is medium bodied, as 'flor' eats glycerin and the wine is always sharper, always very dry and intense. This is a selection of 'botas' from centenary 'soleras' in their bodegas Misericordia and Carretera de Jerez, averaging 4.5 years of age."Wine Advocate 93 points

Tio Pepe Fino Sherry Product #22566 (In Stock)
Tio Pepe Fino Sherry Tio Pepe Fino Sherry

Tio Pepe is the world's best-selling Fino Sherry, and one sip will show you why.  Produced by Gonzalez Byass from solaras begun in 1842, this is quintessential Fino sherry - light, very dry, and loaded with aromas and flavors of green olive and almond.  A great wine with fish and tapas, serve this cold from the fridge and drink it over 3-5 days after opening.  A classic.

Hidalgo Gobernador Jerez Olorosso Seco NV Product #31265 (In Stock)

As Wine Advocate explains, "Emilio Hidalgo founded his bodega in the center of Jerez in 1874, where it is still managed by the fifth generation of the family. They have an impressive range of wines, with some of the original soleras containing wines over 100 years old."  This is a wonderfully rich - but bone dry - Oloroso that spends one year under flor before aging a total of 12 years in cask.  Pretty citrus-like fruit with notes of green tea, walnut and dry caramel and a finish that sails on and on.

For an earlier release, but still on point! "Notes of anise and clove distinguish this robust Oloroso, accenting its salinity. It recalls the coasts of Jerez with aromas and flavors of iodine, salt and the signature earthy dampness of Hidalgo's very old soleras. Firm on the palate, with sharp acidity that penetrates the depths of the wine's flavors, this would be delicious with clams sautéed in olive oil and garlic."Wine & Spirits 94 points

For an earlier release, but still accurate! "Shows lovely focus and persistence, with a prominent thread of bitter almond that runs from start to finish, while singed clove, dried orange peel, juniper, roasted cedar and ginger notes fill in the remaining space. Long finish."Wine Spectator 92 points
