Macrostie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 375ml Product #30012 (In Stock)
Macrostie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 375ml Macrostie Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 375ml

Half Bottle  The 2012 was the best Macrostie Chard we'd had in years - but the 2013 is better still.  From vineyards in Carneros, the Russian River Valley, and Wildcat Mountain.  Rich and lush, with plenty of sweet pineapple and tropical fruit, a lash of butter, and bright green apple acids to hold everything in balance. Our favorite value so far from the outstanding 2013 California Chardonnay crop.

Bench Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2014 Product #30986 (In Stock)

This is one of those "whole lot of wine for the money" bottlings - specifically, a wine that plays in the $30+ Pinot range in terms of quality and character for a lot less.  Like all the best California Pinot Noirs, this comes from cool sites - mostly from Sagiacomo Amaral Ranch just north of San Pablo bay plus a little big of Russian River fruit for depth and structure.  Harvested completely ripe (at just 13.8% abv) and then allowed to rest 11 months in French oak (30% new) for roundness, smoothness, and a touch of spice.

The Russian River component - while small - shows up clearly in this fresh Pinot Noir's bright cherry and red berry fruit on the nose and palate.  A handful of crushed flower blossoms plus dashes of earthy sweet spice give even more complexity to the rich texture and long, lingering, finish.  A satisfying match for salmon, poultry or pork dishes and definitely delicious to just enjoy on its own.

Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014 Product #30493 (In Stock)
Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014 Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Chardonnay 2014

A fascinating blend of rich, ripe, buttery fruit and a touch of lemony, citrusy, snap.  Big aromas of tropical fruit, ginger, spice, and tangy butter on the nose lead to a palate of green pear, apple, and pineapple.  You'll feel the limited new oak more than taste it - it gives the wine body and depth - and love the crisp, clean, lightly buttered finish.

"The less expensive label for Paul Hobbs is his Crossbarn label. He has done a magnificent job of elevating the quality of these wines, which are all made from purchased fruit. Take, for example, the Crossbarn 2014 Chardonnay from the Sonoma Coast. There are over 16,000 cases of this wine, which is bone-dry. Ten percent is barrel-fermented, and the rest aged in steel, so it is essentially a naked style of Chardonnay, and the 2014 is just a beauty, with crisp acidity, notes of apple blossom, tangerine oil and honeyed lemons in an extroverted, beautifully pure and natural style. This is delicious, and a terrific value in Chardonnay to drink over the next few years."Wine Advocate 92 points

Arnot-roberts Syrah Sonoma Coast 2014 Product #30903 (In Stock)

"The 2014 Syrah North Coast is quite possibly the single best wine in the Arnot-Roberts range this year when it comes to quality and price. Pliant, expressive and giving, the 2014 possesses notable depth and intensity. Lavender, sage, menthol, blue/purplish fruit, licorice and graphite meld into the rich, textured finish. The 2014 was done with 100% whole clusters, but that does not take away from the wine's immediacy and sheer deliciousness, even at this early stage. Duncan Arnot and Nathan Roberts have chosen to focus on Sonoma Coast sites, many of which are bottled separately by many other producers, including Solas, Baker Lane, Clary Ranch, Que Syrah and Griffin's Lair, which is why this wine is now labeled Sonoma Coast (previously it was North Coast)."  Vinous (Galloni) 92 points

Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch 2014 Product #30740 (In Stock)
Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch 2014 Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch 2014

Home run aromas of pear, butter, spice, apple and toast.  Very pure and fresh on the palate before spreading out to coat your palate with creamy pear and yellow apple before finishing with a nice burst of mineral and lemon zest.  Delicious!

"The 2014 Chardonnay Watson Ranch is deep and intense, with distinctive floral and savory notes that flesh out as the wine shows off its ample frame. Dried apricot and chamomile add further shades of dimension. These vines, planted on clay over limestone yield an especially generous style of Chardonnay within the Arnot-Roberts style."  Vinous (Galloni) 92 points

Hirsch Vyd Chardonnay Estate Sonoma Coast 2013 Product #30739 (In Stock)
Hirsch Vyd Chardonnay Estate Sonoma Coast 2013 Hirsch Vyd Chardonnay Estate Sonoma Coast 2013

Having come to fame as a premier source of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for Kistler and Williams-Seylem, Hirsch has now become one of California's top winemakers in their own right.  At once rich and vibrant, deep and fresch, this is a very special bottle of Chardonnay.

"Hirsch's 2013 Chardonnay Estate is absolutely gorgeous. Fresh, generous and super-inviting, the Chardonnay captures all of the nuance and pure pedigree of this magical site on the coast. Lemon peel, white flowers and mint are all strikingly delineated, but it is the wine's texture and overall feel that elevate it into the echelon of the truly special. To be honest, I had a hard time moving on to the Pinots."  Vinous (Galloni) 95 points

Kistler Chardonnay Sonoma Mountain 2014 Product #31070 (In Stock)
Kistler Chardonnay Sonoma Mountain 2014 Kistler Chardonnay Sonoma Mountain 2014

Very pure and striking with moderate oak and fantastic length.

"Wonderfully open and expressive, with striking aromatics and compelling overall balance. Candied lemon, mint, nutmeg and almonds are nicely layered throughout. This is a gorgeous wine at the appellation-level. from Kistler that bodes very well for the single-vineyard offerings."  Vinous (Galloni) 91 points

"It is an outstanding effort with a note of roasted hazelnuts (hence the name) loads of sexy citrus oil, honeysuckle and a touch of tropical fruit. It is meant to be drunk in its first 2-3 years of life."Wine Advocate 93 points

Pahlmeyer Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 Product #30259 (In Stock)
Pahlmeyer Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013 Pahlmeyer Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013

An American classic of fine precision and richness.

"Deep, rich and textured, with considerable phenolic weight and intensity. Just bottled, the 2013 is tightly wound at this stage, but it is nevertheless impressive. Hints of lemon peel, butter and tropical fruit meld into the rich, textured finish. The vineyard sources are Waters and Antica, both on Atlas Peak."  Vinous (Galloni) 93 points

"An expansive style, with lively acidity. Plump, ripe and buttery, this coats the palate with a rich array of fig, melon and tropical tangerine flavors, adding a floral, jasmine scent, enlivened by a nervy edge of acidity."Wine Spectator 93 points

Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vyd 2011 Product #30217 (In Stock)
Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vyd 2011 Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vyd 2011

Yes, it's really Marcassin from Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer. Limted.

"The 2011 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard has sweet berry fruit, roasted herbs, incense, a touch of background wood spice and foresty notes all present in this medium-bodied, slightly lighter style of Pinot Noir from Marcassin. This was a challenging vintage, but the wines turned out outstanding, and very Burgundian. The alcohol is 13.9%, which is one of their lowest sugar levels. The wine presents a very attractive, moderately intense perfume, good acidity and excellent precision. Drink it over the next 7-8 years."Wine Advocate 92 points
