Odoardi Savuto Red 2013 Product #30699 (In Stock)
Odoardi Savuto Red 2013 Odoardi Savuto Red 2013

A paradox - how can such a fresh, vibrant, red come from the brutally hot Southern Italian DOC of Savuto in Calabria?  Elevation (Odoardi's vineyards are at up to 2,000 feet) helps, as does a big dose (45%) of Gaglioppo, the soft and bright grape called Arvino locally.  Gaglioppo gives this bright cherry/berry fruit and a soft, round, juicy mid-palate while Aglianico (25%) adds structure and Magliocco Caniino, Greco Nero, and Nerello Cappuccino perfume and complexity.  A great pizza, sausage, pasta, grilled food red, especially with a chill.

Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2013 Product #31614 (In Stock)
Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2013 Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva 2013

Best vintage yet for this long-time southern Italian favorite!

"The Cantele 2013 Salice Salentino Riserva shows a greater level of depth and finesse compared to many of its peers. The wine is packed tight with blackberry fruit, with Maraschino cherry, plum and prune in abundance. The wine is chewy and rich for sure, but it also provides an authentic and generous portrait of a red wine from Puglia. A spicy beef or lamb dish would make the perfect pairing partner."Wine Advocate 90 points

Cantine Farro Falanghina 2015 Product #30830 (In Stock)
Cantine Farro Falanghina 2015 Cantine Farro Falanghina 2015

This is 100% Falanghina, the best white grape of Southern Italy. From first aromas through the lingering finish, the region’s volcanic soils speak clearly here.  Aromas of tangy pineapple, peach, apricot, fresh straw and white flowers lead to tangy, brisk, flavors of stone fruit, lemon curd, and green peach.   A fantastic food wine to pair with pasta primavera, or even fennel-laced Italian sausages.

Diomede Aglianico Campania 2014 Product #31114 (In Stock)
Diomede Aglianico Campania 2014 Diomede Aglianico Campania 2014

While Aglianico can be pretty serious, it can also be fruit-filled and fun just like it is here!  Ripe raspberry and Bing cherry fruit is layered with clove, cracked pepper and a touch of earth.  The firm tannins are ripe and melt away easily, making this a fantastic pizza and salumi red and a fine introduction to this sometimes formidable Campania grape. Juicy, fruit-filled fun!

d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2013 Product #31684 (In Stock)
d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2013 d'Angelo Aglianico del Vulture 2013

A textbook example of Aglianico anchored in tradition but with enough modernity to avoid palate-shredding toughness.  18 months in large, neutral, wood preserves the dark red cherry and wild berry fruit while giving just a hint of fresh leather, herb and earthy tar.  As always with Aglianico, there's plenty of acidity and tannin, but both are well integrated and the tannins are powdery and supple.  A great match for sausages or lamb with olives or roasted peppers!

Terredora Di Paolo Fiano Di Avellino 2014 Product #30729 (In Stock)
Terredora Di Paolo Fiano Di Avellino 2014 Terredora Di Paolo Fiano Di Avellino 2014

Terredora’s “basic” wine is a benchmark for classically styled Fiano, with loads of tropical fruit and a rich, full-bodied, texture balanced by mouthwatering acidity and laser-like focus.  Grapes harvested in the first 10 days of October ferment and age in steel including a few months on the lees.  The aromas and flavors are captivating if hard to describe:  flowers, pear, apricot, citrus, acacia, herb honey and toasted hazelnut notes weave in and out.  Brilliant stuff!

"Rich aromas of apple, herbs and flint. Very fresh and saline, showing a juicy mouthfeel and sneaky concentration to its stone fruit and herb flavors. Finishes with noteworthy persistence."   Vinous (D'Agata) 90+ points
