Il Bastardo Sangiovese Toscana 2015 Product #30909 (In Stock)
Il Bastardo Sangiovese Toscana 2015 Il Bastardo Sangiovese Toscana 2015

Another outstanding 2015 from grapes grown near Rufina in Chianti. Bursting with ripe cherry and red berry fruit that get surprisingly dark and rich with air and keep on pumping right through the easygoing finish.  It's bright enough to sing with pizza and pasta and smooth enough to enjoy on its own. This tasty, easygoing, Sangiovese is just about the perfect casual Italian spaghetti night red.  And, at this great price, you can put it in the spaghetti, too and pop, pour, and enjoy with a crowd.

La Bastarda Bianco Toscana 2015 Product #31041 (In Stock)
La Bastarda Bianco Toscana 2015 La Bastarda Bianco Toscana 2015

As the whimsical label suggests, there's no reason to take this fresh and fruit-filled Trebbiano (70%) and Chardonnay blend too seriously.  Big, juicy, white peach, apricot, and lemon fruit sings out here with more zesty peach fruit and a touch of bitter almond on the finish.  A fine sipper and even better companion for trout, scampi or white fish. Very hard to beat at this price!

Poggio Alloro Chianti DOCG 2014 Product #30149 (In Stock)
Poggio Alloro Chianti DOCG 2014 Poggio Alloro Chianti DOCG 2014

Here’s proof that great farming and straight-ahead winemaking can deliver fine Chianti – and even finer value! – from outside the Classico zone.  More and more Chianti is either all Sangiovese or Sangiovese strengthened with dollops of Cabernet or Syrah.  Here, a family dedicated to natural, organic, farming turns back to Tuscan tradition to make Chianti from an old-school blend of grapes:  Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino and Ciliegiolo.  Sangiovese gives the wine heft and structure, while Canaiolo adds volume, Colorino deepens the color, and Ciliegiolo – Sangiovese’s genetic parent – soft red cherry fruit.

All of this comes together to deliver a ripe, zesty, Chianti that’s very easy to drink.  Ripe black and red cherry fruit forms the wine’s core and gains interest and complexity from accents of crushed violets, red licorice, rich earth, and sweet spice accents.  There’s no oak influence at all, allowing ripe fruit to shine through while retaining outstanding freshness and just the right touch of structure at the end.  A fine party Chianti, for sure, and one that will be as much fun to drink with a big bowl of pasta as with burgers or rosemary-scented pork.
