Valminor Albarino Rias Baixas 2015 Product #31053 (In Stock)
Valminor Albarino Rias Baixas 2015 Valminor Albarino Rias Baixas 2015

A fabulous follow up to the highly rated 2014, the 2015 Valminor Albarino combines the almost seltzery minerality that makes this wine so refreshing with just a couple of extra notches of ripeness thanks to the fantastic 2015 vintage, which is shaping up to be a historic vintage in most of Europe, especially for white wines.

Aromas of peaches, green melon, apricot, and a hint of white flowers tempt you to take a sip. On the palate those ripe stone fruit flavors persist, but it finishes with a seltzery, saline minerality that makes it very dry and refreshing. This is a wine made for fresh seafood, but it’ll do just fine as a delicious aperitif to bring you back to life after a hot day.

“Gloriously aromatic with jasmine and flint notes; very scented. Full and fleshy palate with a mineral follow-through and an intense, harmonious finish. A very lovely Albariño that is so pure.” Decanter 92 points

Portal Do Fidalgo Alvarinho 2015 Product #31049 (In Stock)
Portal Do Fidalgo Alvarinho 2015 Portal Do Fidalgo Alvarinho 2015

Technically a Vinho Verde, it's really a stunning Portuguese take on Spain's Albarino grape.  Explosive flavors of white peach, orange and apricot coat your palate and drive on through a dry peach and flower blossom finish.  Seriously refreshing and satisfying, this is a "do not miss" winner!

"The producer is based in the Monção and Melgaço region of northern Vinho Verde. It is crisp—so fresh and cut with apple and citrus acidity. Light and poised, it has just the lightest touch of wood from the short oak aging."Wine Enthusiast 92 points

Pazo Castrelo Albarino Rias Baixas 2014 Product #31204 (In Stock)
Pazo Castrelo Albarino Rias Baixas 2014 Pazo Castrelo Albarino Rias Baixas 2014

A fun Albarino with abundant, zesty, fruit supported by classic Albarino salinity.  Excellent value, too.

"This wine is light lemon in color, with a vibrant, citrusy nose that’s accented by sweet spice. The zingy palate is doused with lime zest, crushed ginger, white peach and lemon curd. Racy acidity and hints of tannin makes this a terrific food wine. The midpalate has a touch of creaminess to soak up the tingling, vibrant juiciness. The tug-of-war of succulence and tension makes for a fun drink."Wine Enthusiast 90 points

Reguengo De Melgaco Vinho Verde Alvarinho 2015 Product #31072 (In Stock)
Reguengo De Melgaco Vinho Verde Alvarinho 2015 Reguengo De Melgaco Vinho Verde Alvarinho 2015

BIG flavor and fun here, with explosive orange and tangerine citrus, tropical fruit and a touch of apricot tang.  Very long, very delicious.

"The 2015 Alvarinho is dry and comes in at 13% alcohol. This is nicely structured, but it is most impressive for its expressive fruit. Ripe and delicious, with a solid mid-palate and crispness on the edges, this is a beautifully crafted Alvarinho. It should hold for several years, but it is hard to resist now."Wine Advocate 90 points

Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino Rias Baixas 2015 Product #30843 (In Stock)
Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino Rias Baixas 2015 Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino Rias Baixas 2015

It's not surprising that Palacio de Fifianes makes such outstanding wine - they've been at it since 1904!  The grapes grow on granite-laced soils in the Salnes Valley area of Rías Baixas. This is the "green" corner of Spain, with moisture, fog and cool temperatures blowing in regularly off the nearby Atlantic Ocean. The tang of the sea is in the air and on every table, where some of the world's best and freshest seafood takes center stage.  Not surprisingly, you'll find that same hint of brine in this delicious, all tank, Albarino.  While the 2015 hasn’t been reviewed yet, each of the past 4 releases has earned a 91 point rating from Vinous – and the 2015 is the best we’ve ever tasted!

Albarino isn't always aromatic, so the lovely scents of ripe citrus, pear, honeysuckle and white pepper are especially delightful here.  The flavors are just as lovely, with layers of orange, lime, apricot, and green apple fruit bursting across your palate and gaining complexity from dashes of fennel frond, white pepper, and salty sea shell minerality.  It's a vigorous, energetic, wine that keeps on pumping out delicious layers of flavor across a very long, mouthwatering, finish.  Well worth popping a bottle just to drink but it would be a shame not to enjoy it with briny shrimp, clams, or anything laced with olives or capers.

Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino 1583 Rias Baixas 2014 Product #29979 (In Stock)
Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino 1583 Rias Baixas 2014 Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino 1583 Rias Baixas 2014

Current owner Juan Gil de Araujo Gonzales de Careaga created this unique and luxurious Albarino as an homage to Gonzalo Sarmiento Valladares, Viscount of Fefinanes, who was born in 1583 and built the castle that holds today’s winery in the early 1600s. You’ll find plenty of classic Albarino fruit, minerality, and freshness here but also another layer of complexity and interest from careful fermentation and brief aging in wood cask.  It’s a perfect match for richer or more complex dishes – a perfect alternative to outstanding white Burgundy.  As Wine Advocate said of the 2011, "Albarino from Rias Baixas does not come much better than this."

“Green-tinged yellow. Highly expressive aromas of fresh pear, orange zest and jasmine are enlivened by a strong mineral accent. Silky, sharply focused citrus fruit and floral flavors show outstanding energy, with an undertone of chalkiness and no excess fat. Concentrated but also lithe, with a long, penetrating finish displaying firm mineral bite and a jolt of iodine.”  Vinous (Reynolds) 92 points
