Valminor Albarino Rias Baixas 2014 Product #30075 (In Stock)
Valminor Albarino Rias Baixas 2014 Valminor Albarino Rias Baixas 2014

A clean, sea breeze, Alabrino with tangy fruit - green melon, apricot, passionfruit and pink grapefruit - with accents of lime zest and green apple.  The fruit is attractive, but the real story here is the zesty, salty, almost seltzery minerality that comes up in the mid-palate and flows across the mouthwatering, saline, finish.  You'll love having a cold glass of this great value anytime, but it will shine with steamed shrimp, clams, or mussles, grilled sardines, or any dish that makes you think of the sea.

Vina Cartin Albarino 2014 Vina Cartin Albarino 2014

Like any fine Rias Baxis Albarino, Vina Cartin's is one of the best shellfish wine you can imagine and tasty on it's own, too.  It's loaded with tangy lemon and passon fruit aromas and flavors with a broad, saline and seltzer mineraly streak.  Plenty of lemony freshness and lift from front to back in this crisp, juicy, fine, value Spanish white.

Shanela Albarino Rias Baixas 2013 Product #30480 (In Stock)
Shanela Albarino Rias Baixas 2013 Shanela Albarino Rias Baixas 2013

Albarino - from the Galicia region in northwestern Spain - is all about the sea.  Proximity to the ocean makes this one of Spain's few green, verdant, regions and oysters, clams, shrimp, and other seafood appear on tables (and in paella) throughout the region.  Not surprisingly, Galicia's best white grape, Albarino, is all about the sea, too, loaded with fresh citrus fruit and a selzer/salty minerality that shines with briny fish.

Shanela is a great example, 100% biodynamically grown Albarino that's hearvested ripe, fermented cool, and then given a full 16 months on the fine lees to develop savory, mineral, complexity. Unusually rich and creamy-textured for Albarino, this shows ripe citrus and stone fruit on the nose and palate with an attractive sweet ripeness balanced by firm, salty, minerality.  Zesty, fresh, and delicious - with or without the seafood paella!

Frore de Carme Envidia Cochina Albarino 2014 Product #30393 (In Stock)
Frore de Carme Envidia Cochina Albarino 2014 Frore de Carme Envidia Cochina Albarino 2014

Yes, it's organic/biodynamic (check out the bottling info on the back label), aged in barrel, rests in a strange bottle and has a snail on the label.  Ignore all that, because this wine shines like sunshine in the glass. It's a rich, creamy, selzery Albarino with tightly wound apricot, passion fruit, and seashell aromas and flavors that broaden and deepen with air.  It's a compelling drink-alone choice but shellfish (or even snails) are its natural match. A stunner.

Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino 1583 Rias Baixas 2014 Product #29979 (In Stock)
Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino 1583 Rias Baixas 2014 Palacio De Fefinanes Albarino 1583 Rias Baixas 2014

Current owner Juan Gil de Araujo Gonzales de Careaga created this unique and luxurious Albarino as an homage to Gonzalo Sarmiento Valladares, Viscount of Fefinanes, who was born in 1583 and built the castle that holds today’s winery in the early 1600s. You’ll find plenty of classic Albarino fruit, minerality, and freshness here but also another layer of complexity and interest from careful fermentation and brief aging in wood cask.

The aromas here are compelling - spicy, lightly smoky, scents of apricot, pear, orange and honeydew melon with touches of creamy vanilla and anise.  Fantastic balance in the mouth with a core of sliced lime, peach, and apricot fruit surrounded by just a bare hint of oak and loads of saline mineral.  The finish is super detailed, precise, and long with wood grilled fruit and zesty lemon-lime acidity sailing on and on.  As Wine Advocate said of the 2011, "Albarino from Rias Baixas does not come much better than this."
