Castello di Uviglie Barbera Bricco del Conte 2014 Product #30465 (In Stock)
Castello di Uviglie Barbera Bricco del Conte 2014 Castello di Uviglie Barbera Bricco del Conte 2014

Yes, there's a real "Castello" at this estate, perched on a hillside in the Piemonte region of Monferrato.  Like neighboring Asti, this is perfect territory for making great Barbera, with lots of summer warmth for ripening and cool nights to retain plenty of juicy acidity.  Bricco del Conte is a classic, all tank Barbera, that's loaded with dark black cherry fruit and classic floral and balsamic accents.  There's a nice plush richness here with more complexity and a better juicy, fresh, finish than you'd expect for the very attractive everyday price.  A delicious winner!

Franco Serra Barbera d'Alba 2014 Product #30220 (In Stock)
Franco Serra Barbera d'Alba 2014 Franco Serra Barbera d'Alba 2014

From a small Barbaresco producer, this fresh and fruity Barbera delivers a lot more complexity and satisfaction than it's humble price suggests.  Fresh and juicy Bing/black cherry fruit roll across your tongue with accents of fresh leather and aged Balsamic.  Long on the palate and mouthwatering finish where very light tannin gives a little extra support.  A pretty sophisticated wine for the price - great with pizza, pasta, or even on its own.

Guidobono Barbera d'Alba 2012 Product #29225 (In Stock)
Guidobono Barbera d'Alba 2012 Guidobono Barbera d'Alba 2012

A ripe and juicy Barbera that delivers $25 character at a much nicer price.  Fermented in tank and then given less than a year in older barriques, this delivers big Barbera aromas and flavors of black cherry, underbrush, and fresh cut flowers.  One notch more concentration and power than most Barbera in this price range, but still nice and fresh with mouthwatering acidity on the clean, bright, finish.

Paitin Barbera d'Alba Serra 2012 Product #30176 (In Stock)
Paitin Barbera d'Alba Serra 2012 Paitin Barbera d'Alba Serra 2012

From the northern edge of Paitin’s estate Barbaresco vineyard, Serraboella, where the slightly higher amount of clay in the soil favors Barbera over Nebbiolo.  At one time, this was a flashy, oaked-up, wine but no more!  Now it spends 12 months in old Slavonian oak casks, tempering Barbera’s juicy acidity, retaining rich fruit, and adding a tiny bit of structure and spice.  Blackberry and dark cherry fruit hold center state here with hints of crushed violets, leather and spice for complexity.  A great drinker that will pair with a huge range of foods.

"Paitin's 2012 Barbera d'Alba Serra jumps from the glass with dark red cherries, plums, spices, rose petals and tobacco are some of the many notes that meld together in the 2012 Barbera d'Alba Serra. Sweet floral and spice notes flesh out in an ample wine that overdelivers big time. The Serra was aged exclusively in Slavonian oak.  Drink 2014-2020."  Vinous (Galloni) 90 points

Ca' Viola Barbera d'Alba Brichet 2012 Ca' Viola Barbera d'Alba Brichet 2012

Wildly fun stuff.

"A big, explosive wine, the 2012 Barbera d'Alba Brichet races across the palate with a compelling melange of pomegranate. raspberry jam, wild flowers, cinnamon and French oak. The style is racy and opulent, but all the elements are in the right place. There isn't a whole lot of subtlety here, just plain deliciousness."  Vinous (Galloni) 93 points
