Franco Serra Barbera d'Alba 2013 Product #29356 (In Stock)
Franco Serra Barbera d'Alba 2013 Franco Serra Barbera d'Alba 2013

From a small Barbaresco producer, this fresh and fruity Barbera delivers a lot more complexity and satisfaction than it's humble price suggests.  Fresh and juicy Bing/black cherry fruit roll across your tongue with accents of fresh leather and aged Balsamic.  Long on the palate and mouthwatering finish where very light tannin gives a little extra support.  A pretty sophisticated wine for the price - great with pizza, pasta, or even on its own.

Guidobono Barbera d'Alba 2012 Product #29225 (In Stock)
Guidobono Barbera d'Alba 2012 Guidobono Barbera d'Alba 2012

A ripe and juicy Barbera that delivers $25 character at a much nicer price.  Fermented in tank and then given less than a year in older barriques, this delivers big Barbera aromas and flavors of black cherry, underbrush, and fresh cut flowers.  One notch more concentration and power than most Barbera in this price range, but still nice and fresh with mouthwatering acidity on the clean, bright, finish.

Vietti Barbera D'asti Tre Vigne 2013 Product #29811 (In Stock)
Vietti Barbera D'asti Tre Vigne 2013 Vietti Barbera D'asti Tre Vigne 2013

The winery's "calling card" red is better than ever in the warm 2013 vintage.  Like the Wine Spectator Top 100 2012, it's a bright, juicy, Barbera with a touch of flash from time spent in small oak barrel.  Black cherry, blackberry, and currant fruit courses through the mid-palate with spicy oak giving attractive accents.  Fun to sip and great with everything from pizza to pasta to beef.

Oddero Barbera d'Alba 2011 Product #28605 (In Stock)
Oddero Barbera d'Alba 2011 Oddero Barbera d'Alba 2011

The go-to producer of our go-to varietal for refreshing, food friendly, fun has fully captured the potential of the outstanding 2011 Barbera harvest in Piemonte.  What makes 2011 so exciting for Barbera is how the hot summer days delivered more black cherry and blackberry fruit than usual while the cool nights retained classic levels of acidity and freshness.  While the best examples (like this one) will do nicely in your cellar for a few years, there’s no reason to delay gratification beyond the time it takes you to get home from the store.

Here you’ll find generous aromas of juicy black and red fruit plus a handful of crushed violets and the barest hint of smoke.  Take a sip and you’ll love the super smooth, almost slick, texture and big flavors of crushed berries, black cherry, licorice and subtle sweet spice.  The fresh, juicy, finish will keep pulling you back for another sip and I suspect you’ll find yourself saying “Yum” a lot as the bottle drains.  Even though it’s delicious by itself, where this bright Barbera shines is at table with sausage, roast chicken, grilled pork, and – of course – pizza or pasta.  A do not miss stunner.

Vietti Barbera D'alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2010 Product #26716 (In Stock)
Vietti Barbera D'alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2010 Vietti Barbera D'alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia 2010

From nearly 100 year old Barbera vines in the heart of a Barolo vineyard, this once again shows off fantastic concentration and power for this varietal.  Dark, concentrated, black cherry and raspberry fruit with accents of aged balsamic, chocolate, tar, smoke, and licorice root.  The first time Wine Spectator reviewed this wine (it's 5th vintage in 1997, they gave is a whopping 95 point rating and said, “Who knew Barbera produced this quality?”  This is a fine opportunity to get to know one of Italy’s great wines – and one that’s a joy to drink as well!

"Vietti's 2010 Barbera d'Alba Scarrone Vigna Vecchia shows the pedigree of these old vines. Rich and explosive in style, yet buffered by fabulous minerality, the 2010 Vigna Vecchia stands out for its exceptional balance and polish. This is a great vintage for one of Piedmont's icon wines."
