Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2011 Product #28893 (In Stock)
Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2011 Hall Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2011

These guys seem to really shine in "difficult" vintages.  Balanced, luscious, delicious.

"The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is dark, rich and voluptuous. Mocha, espresso, plum, black cherry and intense spices all meld together in a textured, layered wine loaded with class and personality. As always, the Hall Cabernets are forward, fruit-driven and super-rich. This is a great introduction to the house style."  Antonio Galloni 90 points

"This is fairly rich and concentrated, with excellent depth, exhibiting a range of flavors built around dark berry, mocha, espresso, cedar and tobacco notes, with ripe, interwoven tannins. Turns graceful midpalate, ending with a persistent finish. Drink now through 2024."Wine Spectator 92 points

Foxen Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vnyd 2011 Product #28546 (In Stock)
Foxen Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vnyd 2011 Foxen Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vnyd 2011

From Bill Wathen and Dick Dore's 7200 project that focuses on Bordeaux varietals, this medium-bodied Cabernet is fragrant and complex.  It opens with exotic aromas of resinous herbs and blackberry jam.  On the palate, the tannins are ripe but firm, and it's got plenty of juicy acidity, making it a great partner to a wider variety of foods than most California Cabernets.

Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2010 Product #28771 (In Stock)
Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2010 Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2010

Keenan's blend of Spring Mtn. fruit for power and nuance and Pope Valley grapes for lusciousness. Delicious now and - 2020.

"The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is laced with an exciting melange of black cherries, incense, tobacco, mocha, graphite and dried flowers. Deceptively medium in body, the 2010 possesses gorgeous aromatics and tons of pure nuance, all in an understated style I find highly appealing. Today, the wine is a bit compact, but it should grow nicely with further time in bottle. The 2010 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, 61% from Spring Mountain and 39% from Pope Valley. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025."Wine Advocate 91+ points

Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012 Product #28760 (In Stock)
Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012 Paul Hobbs Crossbarn Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012

Another fine release of Paul Hobb's CrossBarn Cab is here! Fruit from several different Napa vineyards gets a nice French oak treatment here, delivering lush aromas and flavors of black currant, black cherry, mocha, fresh herb and spice.  Plenty of tannin hiding down under the lush fruit to pair with robust foods, but it's soft and mouthfilling enough to just drink.

Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012 Product #28408 (In Stock)
Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2012

We all like to show at our best for a big event – like, for example, a 40th Anniversary!  And Chuck Wagner and his family have certainly succeeded in putting their best foot forward (and best wine in the bottle) for the 40th release of the benchmark Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Napa.  Always a classic, classy, Napa Cabernet, Chuck took full advantage of the fantastic 2012 growing season to capture all the black fruit and power you hope for in top-notch Napa Cab – and took advantage of the big harvest to let us bring this to you at a very, very, attractive price!

The wine is dead young right now, but already bursting with aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry, blackcurrant, sweet plum, dark chocolate, and spicy, smoky, oak.  It’s a big, mouth filling wine, that pumps out intense flavors from first contact through the long, lush, sweetly fruited finish where fine-grained tannins provide just the right support for big foods.  At this young age, it needs time in decanter and to be paired with intensely flavored foods – think smoked prime rib or spice-rubbed steak.  If you can wait, the baby-fat will begin to drop away and deliver more nuanced aromas and flavors and a more classically muscular California Cab structure.  But, don’t wait to grab a case (or two, or three!) now while you can at the lowest price we’ve ever offered on this Napa Valley legend.

"I am old enough to remember Chuck Wagner and his father, who I first met at Caymus in the late seventies. This is clearly one of Napa Valley’s iconic wineries, as well as one that, amazingly, never went through a bad patch. Obviously, no matter which generation is in the driver’s seat (or should I say tractor’s seat), Caymus Vineyard knows how to deliver flavor and deliciousness. They appear to be immune to some of winedom’s less than intelligent trends and fads that we see from time to time, and the result is a spectacular 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon 40th Anniversary offering. Its dense purple/black color is followed by copious quantities of crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, silky tannins, a voluptuous texture and stunning purity as well as length. This full-bodied effort is a fabulous example of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon as well as a tribute to this amazing family. It is so good now, why wait? However, I’m sure that like most vintages of Caymus, it will last for 20-25 years. Amazing!"Wine Advocate 96 points

Elyse Cabernet Morisoli Vnyd Napa Valley 2008 Product #28273 (In Stock)
Elyse Cabernet Morisoli Vnyd Napa Valley 2008 Elyse Cabernet Morisoli Vnyd Napa Valley 2008

What a treat - a late-released Napa Cab from the outstanding 2008 vintage to enjoy right now!

"The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard is a beautiful, if somewhat inward wine graced with exquisite finesse. Freshly cut flowers, mint, blackberries and cassis are some of the nuances that emerge from this delineated, finessed Cabernet Sauvignon. Today the wine is a bit tight, but it should soften with another year or so in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020."Wine Advocate 92 points

Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2010 Product #28781 (In Stock)
Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2010 Mount Eden Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2010

"Often the most overlooked wine in the Mount Eden range, the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon shows the pedigree of this great vintage. Firm veins of tannin support a core of black fruit, tar, grilled herbs, smoke and incense in a wild, savory mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that dazzles with its exceptional overall balance and personality. This is another fabulous new release from Mount Eden."  Antonio Galloni 94+ points

"Most of the fruit for this restrained, savory cabernet comes from cuttings Emmett Rixford purportedly sourced from Château Margaux in the 1890s. Martin Ray propagated his own cuttings from that selection to plant in this vineyard’s shallow, shale-laced soils at 1,800 feet of elevation in the 1940s and 50s, and later Jeffrey Patterson replanted it in the 1980s with a selection from those vines. Is it just a coincidence that, tasting this blind, my thoughts turned to a 1985 Margaux I tasted recently? Maybe it was the gentle elasticity of the texture, the vibrant acidity, the rosy glow streaming through a curtain of ripe, earthy tannins. This feels layered with complexity: Beyond the pure cassis tone you might find lavender, graphite, redwood bark, black olive and green herbs. But you don’t need to go fishing for descriptors to appreciate its nuances: just think of it as lovely, integrated, old-school California cabernet. Buy a case and try not to drink most of it until 2030. (1,505 cases)"Wine & Spirits 96 points

Taplin Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Terra 9 2009 Product #29016 (In Stock)
Taplin Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Terra 9 2009 Taplin Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Terra 9 2009

Taplin family members have grown wine grapes in Napa Valley for five generations, and now siblings Melinda, Bill, and Stephen (who lives here in the DC area) are making their own wine.  The Terra 9 wine is named for ancestor John Lewelling's comments about the St. Helena soil:  9 parts rock to 1 part dirt!  Of course, that's just about perfect for ripening pure, intense, Cabernet Sauvignon like you'll find in the bottle here.  Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, crushed herb and spice lead to a focused palate of dark berries and plums dusted with cocoa, spice and herb.  The finish is firm enough to handle a ribeye, but supple enough to enjoy with lighter foods or even on its own.  An excellent value in handmade Napa Cabernet that's ready to drink now.
