- Educated Guess Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Product #29697 (In Stock)
Better than Caymus? Three times in the past 3 months, we've shown this blind vs. Caymus and other highly rated Napa Cabs. The verdict? About 3-to-1 tasters like Educated Guess better when they can't see the label!
It's the best vintage yet for this consistent winner in the "value Napa Cab" category. It doesn't hurt that 95% of the fruit is from prime Rutherford and St. Helena vineyards or that the gutsy Cabernet gets a complexity boost from 6% Merlot and dashes of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. You'll find loads of black fruit (blackberry, currant, and cherry) framed by notes of spice box, chocolate, and crushed mint. It's soft and supple and mouthfilling and the fruit gushes right on through the spicy chocolate and herb finish. There's a touch of something like Rutherford dust at the end, just enough to stand up to a steak but not so much to interfere with everyday sipping. A stellar value.
"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Educated Guess simply must be one of the best buys in Cabernet Sauvignon in all of Napa Valley. The blend includes 10% Merlot and little dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The wine shows a black/ruby color, juicy blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, spice box, Christmas fruitcake, supple tannins, low acidity and a lush, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel. This is an amazing effort for the price point, and just a gorgeously sexy, lush wine that delivers the goods at an amazing price. Drink it over the next 5-6 years."Wine Advocate 90 points
