Lagrein is sort of the Dolcetto of Alto Adige, the bold but flexible everyday red that pairs perfectly with cheese, sausage, and savory main courses. This one's a beauty, ripe and dark and loaded with earthy cherry and plum fruit and bitter chocolate notes. The texture is generous and round - making it a nice sipper - but bright acidity and fine tannins let it shine at table. Delicious and fine value.

From the hills of Alto Adige, the red Lagrein grape can give bitter, astringent, wine. Here, though, you'll find complex aromas of blackberry, blueberry, smoke, pepper and licorice. In the mouth, the blue/black fruit continues as a note of lavender joins the licorice and spice. Finishes long, pure, and fine. Juicy, vibrant, and just utterly, utterly, delicious.
