Los Medanos Malbec Mendoza 2013 Product #28150 (In Stock)
Los Medanos Malbec Mendoza 2013 Los Medanos Malbec Mendoza 2013

Here's a fun, classy, Malbec made entirely from organically grown grapes in the high and dry sunshine of Mendoza.  Aromas of dark black fruit - cherry, currant, raspberry - lead to richly textured flavors of dark fruit, cedar, vanilla and baking spice.  Mouthfilling, but not heavy, it finishes with generous notes of creamy cherry, cedar and spice.  Terrific value and great with burgers or anything roasted or off the grill.

Gouguenheim Malbec 2013 Gouguenheim Malbec 2013

A ripe, meaty, Malbec that will work at table or on it's own.  100% Malbec pleasure with almost no wood influence. Pretty aromas of black berries, spice, lavender and red licorice lead to smooth, rich, flavors of blackberry and blueberry and a lash of coffee and smoky spice.  An easy drinker that has more meaty heft going on than you'd expect for the price.  Bet this would sing with steak rubbed with coffee and ancho chile!

Bodegas Monteviejo Malbec Festivo 2012 Product #28581 (In Stock)
Bodegas Monteviejo Malbec Festivo 2012 Bodegas Monteviejo Malbec Festivo 2012

A lot more serious fun than most Malbec in this price range, it's soft enough to sip and deep enough to love rich food.  This vintage is a bit darker and jammier than the last, but it still finishes clean thanks to the firm structure.  No oak, but plenty of spice and fine-grained tannin.

Zorzal Terroir Unico Malbec Tupungato 2013 Product #29129 (In Stock)
Zorzal Terroir Unico Malbec Tupungato 2013 Zorzal Terroir Unico Malbec Tupungato 2013

The big Wine Advocate rating actually understates the quality of this remarkable, fresh, Malbec.  No oak, but loads of flavor - fruit, mineral, spice - and a wonderfully creamy texture.  Delicious as a sipper and outstanding at table, too.

"Zorzal is a young winery, created in 2008 with the objective of showing the terroir of Gualtallary, Tupungato in the Uco Valley, where the vineyards are located at 1,350 meters altitude and the soils are alluvial with granite and calcium carbonate. The 2013 Terroir Unico Malbec is unoaked and sourced from a special vineyard close to the winery, planted in poor soil. The code name they use internally to identify the wine is “chalk.” It does have a strong sense of minerality and the pure character of the Malbec, with fresh floral notes (violets), pungent aromatic herbs (lavender), and a spicy twist. The palate is very fluid, with tension. This is pure Malbec juice such that I had not experienced before. Unbelivable quality for the price! Drink 2014-2018."Wine Advocate 92 points

Bodegas Monteviejo Lindaflor Petite Fleur 2010 Product #28201 (In Stock)
Bodegas Monteviejo Lindaflor Petite Fleur 2010 Bodegas Monteviejo Lindaflor Petite Fleur 2010

A serious, dark, Malbec blend with notes of chocolate and superb concentration.  Needs air and big meant now.  This is great value.

"The 2010 Petite Fleur is a blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah and 10% Merlot cropped at nine tons per acre. It has a ripe bouquet of creme de cassis, marmalade and blood orange that could be overbearing, but it is undeniably nicely controlled. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle grip on the entry. It has superb weight of fruit, while the finish is powerful yet elegant, with Asian spices, dark cherry and dried orange peel lingering on the aftertaste. Drink 2013-2018."Wine Advocate 90 points

Angulo Innocenti Malbec La Consulta 2012 Product #28301 (In Stock)
Angulo Innocenti Malbec La Consulta 2012 Angulo Innocenti Malbec La Consulta 2012

A big Malbec that stays poised and focused, with half the wine raised in tank for freshness.

"The opaque purple-colored 2012 Malbec is a big (14.5% natural alcohol), 1,800-case cuvee that spent time in both neutral tanks (50%) and oak (50%). It reveals some spicy oak notes along with a big, sweet kiss of blackberry and black raspberry fruit as well as hints of camphor and white flowers. The complex aromatics are followed by a medium to full-bodied, lush, opulent Malbec to enjoy over the next 4-5 years, perhaps longer."Wine Advocate 91 points

Chakana Estate Selection Red 2013 Product #28969 (In Stock)
Chakana Estate Selection Red 2013 Chakana Estate Selection Red 2013

This remarkable blend of 60% Malbec and equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah has racked up 94 and 95 point ratings from Robert Parker in The Wine Advocate the past two years.  The 2013 will end up at least that high with the rating appears in December. I love how there’s nothing thick or heavy here – hard to believe the 14.5% abv! – and how silky it is from first sip through the long finish over silky tannins.  Mouthwatering and well integrated, this is a very impressive wine for steak or even more sophisticated dishes.

Robert Parker’s 95 point review for the 2012 is equally applicable to this not yet reviewed 2013:  “60% Malbec, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Shiraz aged 10 months in 100% new French oak. This killer red comes from Chakana-s two well-placed vineyards in southern Mendoza, Agrelo and Alta Mira. Aromas of flowers, blackberries, camphor, forest floor and subtle new oak emerge from this full-bodied, textured, opulent blockbuster. Extremely pure and rich, this bargain-priced Malbec should drink well for 6-10+ years. If this were a Napa Valley or Bordeaux red, it would undoubtedly be priced between $150-200.”  Don’t miss  this one!

A luscious Mendoza blend of 62% Malbec with 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Syrah.  Big aromas of macerated blackberries and mint lead to a rich, complex, mouthful of tangy cherry, black plum, and blackcurrant with accents of roasted coffee and tobacco.  Richly textured with plush tannins, it finishes broad and mouthcoating but not heavy. Angulo Innocenti Unisono La Consulta 2010 Product #27494 (In Stock)
Angulo Innocenti Unisono La Consulta 2010 Angulo Innocenti Unisono La Consulta 2010

A "WOW" wine, one that makes an immediate impression with its rich, luscious, chocolate-covered fruit and then keeps pumping out blackberry, mocha and spice notes until the bottle's all gone.  Nothing subtle here - big flavors and textures for big food on the grill.

"The 2010 Unisono is a blend of 67% Malbec, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc from La Consulta in the Finca Piedras Blancas vineyard in the Uco Valley. Approximately two-thirds is raised in French oak for 13 months. It has an impressive bouquet, rich and generous with scents of dark plum, boysenberry, fresh dates and a smear of dark chocolate. The aromatics are well-defined and open nicely over the course of one hour. The palate is full-bodied with a supple, luscious entry. There are layers of sweet dark plum, mocha and licorice fruit with just a touch of alcoholic burn at the back of the throat. It does have a gloriously seductive, velvety texture and the rounded cashmere finish is a delight. This is a well-crafted, opulent Malbec blend that offers immediate drinking."Wine Advocate 90 points

"This dark, suave red mixes creamy cassis and dark blackberry coulis notes with layers of mocha, spice and savory cured olive. Compact, with fine tannins and juicy acidity pushing along the fruit-filled finish. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2015."Wine Spectator 92 points

Alta Vista Alto Malbec Mendoza 2007 Product #28339 (In Stock)
Alta Vista Alto Malbec Mendoza 2007 Alta Vista Alto Malbec Mendoza 2007

A "wow" Malbec that's ready to enjoy tonight with steak from the grill!

"The 2007 Alto is a blend of 70% Malbec and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new French oak. Purple/black in color with an alluring nose of sandalwood, exotic spices, black cherry, lavender, and black plum, on the palate it displays opulence, considerable power accompanied by finesse. It has enough structure to evolve for several years and will offer a drinking window extending from 2014 to 2027."Wine Advocate 92 points

"Densely packed, but ripe, lush and inviting, with unabashed licorice, plum sauce, melted fig and boysenberry fruit flavors that glide over hints of spice and mocha. The long, velvety finish pumps out the fruit in spades, with a loamy edge to keep it all honest. Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2011 through 2015." Wine Spectator 94 points
