Alois Lageder Pinot Grigio Dolomite 2012 375 Ml Alois Lageder Pinot Grigio Dolomite 2012 375 Ml

As always, this is a classic Pinot Grigio from the foothills of Italy's Dolomite mountains.  Rich aromas of peach and pear with an herbal accent.  In the mouth, broad, rich, and packed with orchard fruits and a dash of citrus that turns juicy on the clean, fresh, finish.  A richer style of Pinot Grigio that's as fun to sip solo as it is to pare with rich fish or cheese.

Di Lenardo Pinot Grigio Friuli 2013 Product #28571 (In Stock)
Di Lenardo Pinot Grigio Friuli 2013 Di Lenardo Pinot Grigio Friuli 2013

If you think Pinot Grigio is a neutral, flavorless, watery wine – well, you just haven’t tried the new release of this long-time customer favorite!  It’s wonderfully aromatic, with notes of crisp pear, fresh apple, white flower blossom and a touch of spice jumping from the glass.  The texture is as light, crisp, and refreshing as ever, but the flavors are bold and satisfying with notes of spicy pear, juicy green apple, tangy apricot, and just a hint of almond.  The fruit flavors keep on pumping through the long, mouthwatering, finish where the pear juice and citrus flavors linger. A great all-purpose summer white to enjoy on its own or with everything from shellfish to grilled chicken.

There's more to Oregon than Willamette!  This luscious, mouthwatering, Pinot Gris comes from Rouge Valley, further south and a touch warmer than the Portland area.  You'll find plenty of Pinot Gris pear, peach, and spicy apple fruit here with pretty floral accents and a snap of citrus at the end.  Snappy enough to enjoy as a solo sipper, rich enough to handle big Holiday meals.

"Bright and lively, with an appealing vitality to the green melon, ripe pear and delicately floral flavors, lingering on the focused finish."Wine Spectator 89 points

Ransom Pinot Gris Eola Amity 2012 Product #27740 (In Stock)
Ransom Pinot Gris Eola Amity 2012 Ransom Pinot Gris Eola Amity 2012

Very little made (just 232 cases) of this organically grown, naturally made, Piont Gris from Cattrall and Temperance Hill vineyards.  A rich, deeply-textured, take on Oregon Pinot Gris that shows the complexity of whole cluster pressing, two months on the lees, and just the right hint of residual sugar. Aromas and flavors of heirloom apples, tart pear, mountain flowers and brioche bread.  Creamy and rich on the palate but then juicy and refreshing on the mouthwatering finish where lemon custard and browned pear notes linger.

"Ample and subtly creamy, this still offers more than enough refreshing primary juiciness and an abundance of ripe peach as if close to the core: subtly piquant and salty in a manner that really stimulates the salivary glands. A garland of bittersweet floral perfume and additionally invigorating twist of lime peel add to the appeal of this outstanding value that should prove highly versatile until at least 2015."Wine Advocate 89 points

Muri-Gries Pinot Grigio 2013 Product #28748 (In Stock)
Muri-Gries Pinot Grigio 2013 Muri-Gries Pinot Grigio 2013

From a Benedictine monastery just south of the Bremmer Pass in southern Tyrol. Very pretty fruit and a silky, fine, texture.

"This working Benedictine monastery has an excellent reputation for their classy wines emerging from south of the Bremmer Pass in southern Tyrol. Founded in 1845 by Benedictine monks from Switzerland, Muri-Gries began producing wine in 1947 and has consistently performed well in my tastings. The 2013 Pinot Grigio Alto Adige was aged five months in stainless steel and 25% spent time in large neutral oak ovals (called foudres in France). It exhibits lovely notes of apple skins, honeyed apricots, white currants and spring flowers in a medium-bodied, fresh, nicely textured style. This dry white should drink well for a year or more."Wine Advocate 89 points

Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg 2013 Product #28720 (In Stock)
Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg 2013 Elena Walch Pinot Grigio Castel Ringberg 2013

Elena Walch remains one of the very top winemakers in Alto Adige and her estate Pinot Grigio is a great example of her work. Mostly made in tank, but 15% is fermented and aged in wood for more heft and depth.  Ripe peach, crunch apple, honeysuckle, anise, and fresh almond aromas and flavors take the lead with a very slight, subtle, note of honey lingering under the zippy acids.  Lip-smacking, complex, and very delicious Pinot Grigio!

"Plenty of dried apple, honey and lemon skin character. Full body, with bright acidity and a fresh and clean finish. How serious, pinot grigio."  James Suckling 92 points

Carrick Pinot Gris Central Otago 2011 Product #28901 (In Stock)

Yup - there's a lot more to New Zealand than Suavignon Blanc and Pinot Noir!  Take this lovely Pinot Gris from certified organically farmed vines grown not too far from the sea in Central Ontago. The results are a bit of a cross between Pinot Grigio and Pinot Gris, with Oregon's ripe pear fruit and rich texture paired with Italy's tangy passion fruit and bitter orange citrus notes.  Finishes long and mouthwatering with a touch of orange peel.  A fun match with Asian food or anything a bit fruity.

Kientzler Tokay Pinot Gris Kirchberg Grand Cru 2002 Kientzler Tokay Pinot Gris Kirchberg Grand Cru 2002

Yes, it's really 11 years old, having matured perfectly in importer Olivier Daubresse's warehouse.  All Pinot Gris from the grand cru Kirchberg vineyard, this opens with wildly complex aromas of peach, apricot, baked pear and more.  Fantastic attack on the palate with dried fruit and smoky slate flavors and zingy acids under the tiny amount of residual sugar.  Long, layered, and complex, it's rich enough for big foods but finishes dry and mouthwatering for wonderful refreshment.

This is simply as good as Pinot Gris gets.  Chock full of peach, pear, and yellow apple fruit with layers and layers of sweet spice, lemon peel, and smoke aromas and flavors.  Really spreads out and completely coats your palate with fantastic richness and depth before a burst of bracing acidity and smoked stone minerality emerges to scrub your mouth clean – and get you ready for the next sip.  Fantastic length to the palate and finish.  A stunner that’s irresistible right now, although you can wait a few years if you really want to.

“A pretty white, juicy and floral, offering finely knit flavors of persimmon, spun honey, white peach, smoky mineral and lemon preserves, with a fresh, stony finish. Drink now through 2020. 470 cases made.”Wine Spectator 91 points
